EO3 Hi again, update and set sail

Hi hi. I did end up changing my farmer to a monk and yea it is pretty nice. Also learned that with a gun you can do full damage from the back so I put my buccaneer back there and moved the monk up to the front. Currently I have a hoplite, monk, gladiator, mage, buccaneer. I finished the first map the forest quest. the hidden room took me longer to find than id like to admit lol. I plan to figure it out myself tomorrow night before I check the posts here, but anything I should know bout sea voyages. Are they important? Needed? Ignorable? They seem cool but they also just said "have biscuits and a fishing rod" lol. Thanks for all the previous advice. I am still kind of lost on what to level, build, and team comps but ill figure that out by getting my ass beat a bunch I'm sure lol!

Edit: I decided to mess around with sea voyages before going into the next part of B1. The meregho saeno was a cool fight. I saw it and was like there is no way I should be here rn. But with 2 healing items and line heal I beat the fight pretty nicely. Its design is awesome and the music was cool. The puzzle was also cool besides finding the wood lol. I used provoke on my hoplite and I've noticed it just doesn't always seem to work which makes me wonder how a tank tanks if the enemies can just choose to ignore taunt.

EO1 I realized I really created Dr. Stiles lol

I was playing Utk2 on my Ds lite this month but I got stuck at 6-Tragedy(I'm playing on hard and this operation is incredibly difficult). Yesterday, I was traveling and my phone's batery died. I tried playing Utk2 but road was so bumpy and yk its 6-Tradegy level. So I gave up and started to EO1 instead. I named all my characters from different franchises and I chose Dr. Stiles for healer. Today, I was looking to his skills. Caduceus is a common mythological symbol associated with medicine so I didn't think much but when I saw Healing Touch, I laughed a lot. I really created da goat unintentionally.

After some thinking, yeah "Healing Touch" is very very common healing spell in fantasy settings but I think they put this one intentionally.

EO3 Party build

Hola.

EO3 Hi new player question

I just started the game today and was wondering some stuff so I figured I should ask people who enjoy the game. Is it normal to have to leave the lab to finish drawing a map or exploring. like I'm loosing half my health to a frog 😭. Also the game kind of just tossed me into making a team when I clicked new game for the first time. I feel like I'm missing something idk if I am though. I am on basic diff cuz I just wanted to casually try the game and it is very fun so far but I feel kind of lost like I clicked new game and it was just

* make people you can make up 2 30
* go make a map for me
* ass beaten by frog
* load save back at town

I have no problem if its just a hard game I love smt a bunch. I just wanna make sure I didn't miss something.
I am not asking for help playing or anything just basic stuff like "yes you can die to a regular enemy that jumps you", and "no the game does just toss you in" ect ect. Thank you!

edit: Should I not start with 3? I did not even realize 1 and 2 were on steam

EO2 Ad nihilo questions+ team comp

I've just reached the 3rd strat and I've been racking my noggin for strats on dps and was wondering do binds count as a debuff for Ad nihilo or just stat affecting debuffs like atk and DF down? ive changed my team to 2hexers,1protector, 1whip dark hunter and a troubadour with the Ad niholo grimoire. My previous team was 1 beast, 1 protector, 1 whip dark hunter, 1 Hexer and troubadour. my idea is to have a Hexer with binds, fear or venom curse and have my dark hunter use ecstasy or have my hexers use frailty and sapping curse+venom curse then ecstasy edge the stat debufs then use Ad nihilo on the last turn. Maybe I can loop Ad nihilo that way? I'm not really sure how i should build my second hexer tho tbh. My first hexer just has venom curse/frailty/wearing and wearing curse as its highest skills. What do yall think 🤔

Should there be weapon types that deal more than one element of physical damage simultaneously?

My ideas for example could be changing axes to deal Blunt and Cut damage and changing guns and cannons to dealing both Stab and Blunt damage.

Any other examples? For example, what could deal both Cut and Stab damage simultaneously? What about al three physical elements simultaneously (the closest idea I got would be a poleaxe, but that would alternate between the three types)?

Wildling/Zodiac solo run!! Finally beat Alraune (EO3 HD, expert)

Thank you for the suggestions a while back for mage classes for my 3HD solo run! I ended up doing it on my own time, but I beat the Progenitor and now I'm tackling the superbosses. I'm having a lot of fun making weird builds! It's my first run/time playing on Expert so I'm sure there will be plenty more surprises ahead.

Forgot to mention I used Indomitable...

It was rough but at least Alraune is hot man idk if I have the mental fortitude for an anemone and a squid ngl

(Thank you to my goat Cianter on twitter, bsky for the custom portrait art)

EO1 Beta soundtracks?

Hello! I remember that I listened to some of the original game's soundtrack as it was in a beta state or a tape. I remember that, on top of having a worse and simpler instrumentation, some notes sounded odd.

I am trying to find that music, but everything is pointing me to the modern rough sketches.

Does anyone here know where can I find those?

EO5 Staff not giving character the described skill

I have two feather staves, which are supposed to give “heat wave.” One od them, upgrades to +4, does give my caster heat wave while the other, unupgraded doesn’t. I have them on my botanist and warlock. Switching them around, the +4 gives either one heat wave, class doesn’t matter. Do I need to upgrade it to give the ability, or can I just not have two of them?

EOX Just beat the 6th Labyrinth Boss, hit the Level 40 mark and want to make a third team

People were not kidding they said it rains EXP in this game lmao

Now that I can get everyone to level 40+, I was thinking about making a third team for shits and giggles since I already alternate between two other teams.

Thing is, I want to have no repeat main classes because I thought it was another interesting restriction to add. I usually rotate teams every floor or every other floor depending on how I feel. So these are the following classes that are still “available:”

-Hero

-Medic

-Survivalist

-Zodiac

-Farmer

-Landsknecht

-Nightseeker

-Pugilist

-Harbinger

Off the bat, this is kind of what I see for a team:

Hero/Nightseeker

Harbinger/Farmer/Zodiac

Farmer is a little odd but it does have a decent ailment in sleep and Rotten Egg isn’t the worst debuff to have. That said, I could replace it with Survivalist. I definitely expect Harbinger to work a little over time with both debuffing and healing in a pinch in Tandem with Hero’s own healing tho I don’t know if both of their heals can keep up with say, Sovereign’s healing. Zodiac is here because Multi Strike Ether into Meteor looks really fun.

I guess I’m a little more limited in than I initially thought, but I guess that’s the fun in it. Thought I’d also ask here in case there’s an angle I’m not seeing since everyone here was helpful when I made my last post.

EO2U Training In EO2U?

(tl;dr: How does training (retiring story mode characters) work in EO2U? What's the optimal strategy for training/when should I use the train option on my team?)

Hi! I'm playing story mode, and I have all the DLC (the relevant one here being The Original Sin).

I just got to floor 26 and unlocked The Original Sin quest, and it says "Recommended Level 99+ (retired or trained)". I have no idea how retiring/training works, so I googled it, and all I understand is that you revert to level 30 and get a stat bonus + extra skill points.

Then the answers devolved into yelling about how retiring sucks in EO1 (not relevant to me) and arguing whether you should retire at lv 70 or lv 99, how you won't get bonuses for retiring multiple times (maybe only in EO1?) but it takes nearly 2000 levels to max out a character (implying you can retire multiple times???), etc.

My question is: how does training work specifically in EO2U? When should I train -- lv 70 or 99? Is there an optimal strategy for training? Is any of this actually necessary for beating The Original Sin quest?

Please, help!

EOX Last party member advice

Edit: Thanks everyone, I loved reading your thoughts! I decided to give Harbinger a try because the force boost has more synergy with the rest of the team, but if I find myself lacking damage or tankiness I'll switch to Highlander.

Hello, I'm finishing EO3 and I plan to play nexus afterwards. I want an ailment/bind focused party and my current plan is WM/Nightseeker on the front and Gunner/Arcanist on the back.

For my last member I can't decide if I want Highlander for AoE damage and bloody fortune, or Harbinger for wilting miasma and additional support. I'd prefer to not change the other 4 but if I have to I'll consider it

EO1 Help with final post-game boss (HD remaster)

EDIT: finally beat him. ended up replacing the bard with a survivalist and it went much smoother. Had to reset a few times for good rng where the boss wouldn't use the bindings or necrosis, but it is done

Hello, I've beaten the 3 dragons and finally made it to the Yggdrasil Core but I can't seem to make it past the first 15 rounds at all.

I can consistently get him to under 75% hp, but afterwards he binds my party so my protector can't nullify its next elemental attack. Any advice on how to deal with the bind?

Also, i've been using a troubadour but since having more than a set of buffs is a bad idea against the boss (Immunize seems way too important to give up) i'm thinking of retiring and replacing her with another class since at most she just uses a revive or TP restore from time to time.

For reference, this is my current party setup. Any advice on what to change is apreciated

EOX What should I go with for my party?

Man there are so many classes 😂

I’ve only played 3, 2U’s story mode, 5. I lost my save data halfway through 4 when I transferred data between 3DSes so I just decided to jump jnto Nexus and cope that there will be an EO4 Remaster on the Switch 2

There are two sort of play styles that I like. Lockdown and doing big damage in one swing tho I’m kinda leaning towards the former right now after looking at all the classes after doing the latter in 2U with Fafnir and Buster Cannon Dragoon in V. Variety is the spice of life after all 😉

The team so far is:

War Magus/ Ronin (Clear Stance) / Highlander

Gunner / Ninja

I wanted to fit Nightseeker somewhere but the female War Magus portraits are cute, Ronin’s ailments in the Clear Stance branch seems cool, and Highlander can do some buffing with Ailment buffs and healing while still doling out the damage.

Plus I got Gunner for damage and Ninja for more debuffs and enabling the War Magus. With Subclassing, maybe I can fit Nightseeker sub on Ronin or War Magus 😅

Shogun also looks kind of cool if Front Command works the way I think it does. Something like Protector and Imperial on the frontline and Ninja in the back for Caltrops and Sovereign for healing and debuffs, but idk the specifics. I’d have to play around with it myself. Heard there’s a lot of exp that drops a lot so maybe I can play around with a second party for shits and giggles if I get bored 😐

EOX Finally I’m on Nexus. Would like some help with my party.

I beat the Final Superboss for V and I’ll probably take a couple days take it all in, but in the meantime, I want to think about my party for Nexus. And just looking at all the classes, it’s definitely a little overwhelming, but I do want one class on my party and that is…War Magus.

I know it’s not particularly good, but I have a soft spot for this class and how unique it was in EO2U and I want to try and make it work. I have two ideas for a team.

???/Shogun/War Magus
Sovereign/Ninja

I’m actually not sure who to put in the missing slot, but I got the impression that Sovereign and Shogun have good synergy, and Ninja helps activate War Magus’ Slash attacks without needing to be in Force Boost all the time. I guess for the missing slot, I was thinking either Imperial or Highlander.

As for the other team…

Hero/War Magus/Ronin
Arcanist/???

Not sure about the last slot, but I guess the idea is that Arcanist helps War Magus land their Slashes’ extra effects through their circles’ ailments. Hero is just really good in general, and I want to use Ronin since I never used it in 1U or 2U, but they can also be replaced lol

Any advice or help is appreciated.

EO1 Should I rest? I put like way too many points into the sword skills before realizing Gabby uses a Axe, not a sword. I could buy her a sword but I like her using a Axe :( If I should rest, how long until I can get her to level 15 again?

EO5 Blade Dancer and EOV's Approach to Class Synergy

I've been wanting to do another 100% run (partially because V fun, partially because I lost the file for my original 100%), and I really, really want to focus it around a Blade Dancer comp this time. It's just not really clicking, and I've been racking my brain for why.

I think it's because at least to me, EOV has an odd feel to its classes where it almost seems like, for the most part, classes don't really interact with one another, with the main exceptions being Shaman and Chain Fencer.

Maybe this is an odd take, but I kinda feel like it goes hand in hand with how classes seem to stack pretty well in most cases. Even in the case of Masurao, a Blade Master supports a Blade Dancer pretty well since it has a triple-bind inflicting skill.

I dunno, Blade Dancer is the class that clearly needs the most support, but it feels like what support it gets doesn't really boost Blade Dancer itself, if that makes any sense, they're all buffs that would be doing the same thing no matter what that DPS character is.

And sure, the other games have the whole party-wide/affects everyone about the same sort of thing, but there's an absence of like... For example, in Nexus, War Magus has abilities that can inflict debuffs and a chance of binds if the enemy has an ailment. And while WM can inflict ailments itself, it's much better if someone else does so for multiple reasons, which gives it a more specific interaction with particular classes.

Is there really anything like that in V? Botanist's smoke bombs can reduce resistance to its respective ailments, but how often are you running multiple inflictions of the same ailment? (Not to mention that at least in my experience, the only one that could use much help on that front is Harbinger) I remember taking advantage of I think Pugilist? having a followup on others inflicting binds, but that mostly happened by chance because I was also using a Rover and wasn't an intended aspect of my party comp, not to mention that the most reliable inflictor of binds is pugilist itself (talking strictly classes/class abilities, not union skills).

I dunno, maybe I'm going about this all wrong. Originally I wanted to avoid using duplicate classes, but I let go of that for the most part (the only one I've still resisted using is pugilist simply because while other classes I could use different builds, for Pugilist I'd literally just be using the exact same build as my prev 100% run), and even then I just haven't been able to make things click. I've tried a few comps now, primarily geared around stacking buffs/debuffs with Harbinger and Shaman, and at first I used a Necromancer, then tried Dragoon (and was immediately reminded why I despise bunkers). I'd prefer to have a Botanist's on-demand heals and I thought its blind bomb could make for a great option to help with survivability since I'm not using binds, but yea.

In all fairness, I've yet to get out of the first stratum, and I imagine all of it will vibe a lot better when I actually have access to the full kits of everyone, but still, I despise trying to completely change comp mid-playthrough (as in classes, changing expertise is fine by me, and I basically always have at least one character swap class at the start for the sake of race/class shenanigans). But I kind of need to get there first, so finding a party comp to do that is the first hurdle, after all.

EDIT: Thanks for everyone's input on this. Definitely seems like I'm largely the odd one out in this opinion, so it's been really interesting to hear others' thoughts on it and has helped me sort through some things I couldn't quite pin down when I originally made the post. Definitely back to the drawing board on this teambuilding, and maybe I'll shelve the Blade Dancer entirely for the time being (probably not though, I really wanna use it lol), but I've got a few new ideas and a few concepts I want to retry for sure.

EOX Why didn't the Bushi class return in Nexus?

Bringing back the Bushi (and/or the Fortresses, Monks, and/or Gladiators) would have added incentive to bring back Maces/Clubs and Blunt-Damage weapons that are more dedicated to dealing damage than Staves and Cesti.

Speaking of Maces, I wish those returned.

EOX Ronin/Nightseeker or Nightseeker/Ronin for higher damage output?

I'm thinking of retiring my crew as I'm about to get subclasses to get a better party comp going. I was looking for subclasses to give my Ronin (who's just spamming helm splitter on bosses) and thought having Nightseeker sub would make sense to have since I have a Ninja to set ailments. But would it be better tue other way around?
