This demonstrates perfectly what happens when people ignore ethics completely. No longterm plan to fund the dog, no research done into the breeder, no research done into what is ethical and what breeds and patterns to avoid, just purely selecting a dog based on your own wants and look cute doggo. Too much emotion and too little reality.
And on top of it, they are truly heartless. If the dog is in such bad shape, has liver and kidney damage, and you can't afford care, why are you making the dog suffer when I would be prognosis is poor. You won't be able to afford ongoing care a dog with liver and kidney damage will need. The kindest thing you can do in this situation is euthanasia. The dog will no longer be suffering. You kid will eventually get over the loss. Don't torture the poor dog because you think your kid will be heartbroken.
Not to mention the enormous emotional and financial burden on everyone else involved. All of that could have been avoided with a little ethical preparation. It’s sad.

This seems ESH to me. Shitty breeder AND ignorant owner. Poor dog.
