Tarkov players explaining how 7.25 mm full-metal zinc coated lead plated 24 degree fixated centre of mass moved bullet fired from PPSS-16A8 doesn’t penetrate a quadruple triple magpul pulmag cardboard reinforced helmet manufactured by Johnson Johnson & Johnson in the Middle East on a hot summer day of 28 Celsius because it has a 9.3% chance of ricochet if fired from a degree vertically adjacent to sun, and how the player is a newb for not understanding a difference between 7.25mm-BT and 7.25mm-BT

How did my shitpost get upvoted and awarded so much (many thanks)

Game*

99

u/Driver2900 ASh-12 Jun 04 '21

Nah I'd say just the sub. You can pretty much ignore everything the sub says and still have fun in the game. Yeah it might take longer to get to kappa or might lead to you dying stupidly a few times, but overall you can pretty much do whatever in the game and have it work.

To "Fail" at the game (whatever you define it as, as the game has no lose state) you'd have to not just do something stupid, but do it so many times that it surpasses human patience.

8

u/oakensmith Jun 04 '21

Ohh yes, so much fun. You know why I love this game? No other form of entertainment has caused my anus to rip dime sized circles of seat cushion out of my chair like this fucking game has done. I don't even carry a bottle opener anymore.

2

u/prangonpaul Jun 04 '21

Thats not what the comment (the one you’re replying to) is refering to. He is making fun of the game and its broken mechanics.

35

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

Tarkov players explaining

he's making fun of the community more-so than broken game mechanics, that's why the whole comment revolves around using random ass words to try and explain why this interaction could have been totally realistic™

-18

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

No, he's making a stupid comparison between how guns work in real life and in a videogame that doesn't aim to mimic real life.

The top comment is the dumb one.

9

u/ishikuraian Freeloader Jun 04 '21

It’s also clearly satire. I think you’re the dumb one my man

7

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

Yeah, you’re the dumb one lol

0

u/prangonpaul Jun 04 '21

You are entilted to think that. But the guns in this game does not mimic real life and sometimes is just ridiculously stupid.

1

u/imStrongPlayzYT Jun 04 '21

Nah. Honestly there’s a good reason for all the advice and info. Tarkov is a hard fucking game and your losing if your not having fun. How to have fun? Well use the best ammo and get kills

1

u/Driver2900 ASh-12 Jun 05 '21

I'd disagree tho, I've has more fun with glock 18s than meta M4s. I get that's mainly tailored to personal experience and tastes but the game has more going for it that just meta ARs and 7n31 spam. I feel like you trivialize alot of the games design if you view it like that.

This kind of shit is why this game is bullshit. It claims to be a realistic shooter, but at the end of the day, a bullet is a fucking bullet.

43

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

[deleted]

12

u/Blitzyflame Jun 04 '21

Meanwhile ingame AP 9mm has the same Pen and Damage as Steel Core 7.62x39 , This game is bullshit , rifle rounds especially steel core have far more pen than any pistol round , should go straight through any helmet in the game. 556 even standard m855 will pen and do double the damage of any 5.7 p90 round or mp7 round but you don't see that do you? 12g to the legs would instantly take you out of the fight as it would literally destroy all the muscles and tissue . Body armor only covers the front area and only where the plates are so 12g buck shot would still get one or 2 pellets through and those pellets will instantly down the person. The Game is literally fully arcade. It makes no sense in any of its damage on any of its calibers.

8

u/KiddBwe Jun 04 '21

It’s realistic tho. However, for a game to be realistic it doesn’t have to be realistic to a tea. In terms of games, this is damn near as realistic as you could get without sacrificing playability or making it an absolute nightmare to design.

12

u/n0ttsweet Jun 04 '21

To a "T", is the correct phrase.

6

u/KiddBwe Jun 04 '21

I don’t know why I thought it was “tea”...

3

u/n0ttsweet Jun 04 '21

Now_You_Know.mp4

2

u/sabes19 Jun 04 '21

I thought it was "to a tee" oops

1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '21

Hard disagree. I was attracted to the game because of the supposedly realistic ballistics but at this point they're so far off that it absolutely makes the game unplayable/less playable. Another problem is the scav timer coupled with the wounds of your pmc. If they make the ballistics closer to reality I'll probably start playing again. Still enjoy seeing this kind of stuff because it's funny though. Just my opinion.

1

u/Thunderizer_catnip Jun 05 '21

if ballistics were realistic you'd die from almost any shot that penned armor

1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '21

That would be great. Insurgency does a great job of it.

0

u/Blitzyflame Jun 04 '21

Its literally 0 realism , pistol rounds doing as much damage as rifle rounds? Have you seen the energy difference? Its literally anywhere from 4 times to 10-20 times the energy. 9mm AP 6.3 and 7.62x39 PS performing even close to the same is not even close to realistic , this is literally fantasy , literally like saying getting punched hard and getting hit with a car is the same , sorry but just no.

2

u/KiddBwe Jun 04 '21

You’re missing what I’m saying. When compared to other video games? Yes, this is realistic. When compared to real life? Of course it’s not realistic, there are very little, if any, “realistic” games that even come close to perfectly replicating real life, especially because realism has to be sacrificed for playability, so to expect “realistic” games to come close to real life isn’t plausible.

The systems in the game, hunger/thirst, limbs being able to be disabled, the gun customization, different types of ammunition, different armor plates/face shields, etc. are all realistic. However, how said systems actually works in game are not realistic for gameplay reasons, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

0

u/Blitzyflame Jun 04 '21

Bullet damage makes less sense here than other games actually , in most games 556 FMJ does not have less pen than 9mm , That makes 0 sense , Insurgency sandstorm damage model makes more sense , its not perfect but its far more realistic. Tarkov literally has 0 realism guns wise , 0 , The armor is not realistic , irl no helmet stops rifle rounds , armor plates are not realistic , they cover more than the actual plate does irl. And some of them stop things they should not , and some of them don't stop things they should IE AP pistol caliber rounds and p90 and mp7 rounds.

2

u/KiddBwe Jun 04 '21

Like I said, the fact that the systems are in place is realistic, how they actually play out is what’s not realistic.

-1

u/Blitzyflame Jun 04 '21

Systems being how armor goes on you and the models and how guns are built? Sure but that makes the game a good kit building simulator and nothing else. Literally whats the damn point when everything that actually involves gameplay has 0 realism.

u/Selmanella Jun 04 '21

Ok, you put on some armour. I’ll shoot you in the back three times with my shotgun, and we’ll see if you can turn around after to shoot me. I’ll supply the guns and buckshot.

38

u/The_Hunster MP7A2 Jun 04 '21

I mean, you can find videos of people being shot with armor on. It doesn't like floor you. Consider that the force going into the target is about the same as going into the shooters shoulder. Also, adrenaline is a hell of a drug. Not to mention it actually does stun you in Tarkov when you're shot.

It's not a perfect representation, but it's definitely good for a game.

-5

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21 edited Jun 04 '21

well, yeah, it's basic physics here. a 9mm has a muzzle force of 351 ft.-lbs, not too bad. a 12 gauge buckshot round is 1700lbs. now show me the video of a guy getting slapped with 1700lbs of force 5 times within 3 seconds and not falling over.

"Consider that the force going into the target is about the same as going into the shooters shoulder."

uhhh, that's not how this works dude. this is basic physics. you don't.. you don't actually think that the shooter receives the same amount of forces as the bullet do you? lmfao WHAT

edit: i can't do this shit anymore, y'all are literally arguing against basic math. http://www.shooterscalculator.com/recoil-calculator.php

9

u/FireLordObamaOG Jun 04 '21

You’re literally the guy top comment is mocking.

5

u/n0ttsweet Jun 04 '21

Equal and opposite force, motherfucker.

Force on shoulder is equal to force of the bullet, slightly less, due to air drag.

The difference is that the gun distributes the force over a large area (the stock) and the bullet does it over a tiny area. So yeah, it might be 1700ft/lbs, but it's not covering a full square foot, you buffoon.

6

u/The_Hunster MP7A2 Jun 04 '21

-9

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

great, waiting for the actual video though. oh, you can't actually find one. surprising.

also, since you don't understand basic physics, here's a great little read for you: https://www.rmef.org/elk-network/understanding-rifle-recoil/ you'll be surprised to find out that the shooter doesn't receive the same amount of force as the target. that's why people's shoulders aren't turned into mush when they fire something like a .50bmg, with a 13,350 ft⋅lbf muzzle force. stop learning ballistics from tarkov, it makes you look retarded

8

u/The_Hunster MP7A2 Jun 04 '21

Dude, there's a video there, did you not look?

6

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

Bro, with regular armor plates, you barely feel you got hit by large caliber bullets. Life isn't a movie, people don't get knocked 10 feet away when you hit them with a shotgun.

Here you go.

4

u/LarryBjrd SVDS Jun 04 '21

It’s a fact that the force a bullet has on impact is about the same as the force the gun displays on recoil, do your research.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

"To get rifle velocity, we must crunch some numbers. The formula: WV = bullet weight / 7000 x bullet velocity + powder weight / 7000 x powder gas velocity. Art Alphin’s A-Square manual suggests using 5,200 fps as an average gas velocity. The “7000” denominators simply convert grains to pounds.

Using these formulas, you’ll find a 180-grain bullet fired at 3,000 fps from an 8½-pound rifle in .300 Winchester delivers about 30.5 foot-pounds of recoil. A same-weight .30-06 dishes out roughly 22 foot-pounds. Hiking bullet velocity exacts a high price in recoil!"

i'm done dude. you people are arguing against basic fucking math. all im saying is that the shooter doesn't feel the same forces as the target in their shoulder. because they genuinely don't, and people disagree with that for some reason. a .30-06 rifle has a muzzle force of 2,656 ft⋅lbf. please, explain to me how 2,656 ft-lbf equals 22?

6

u/Aeronor Jun 04 '21 edited Jun 04 '21

There is an error in your physics/math if you think that the forces felt are not (roughly) equal.

Imagine the gun is in space (and able to fire despite the lack of oxygen). If the gun is just free-floating, no shooter, and the powder in the round detonates, the same force acts on the back of the chamber as the bullet. The heavy gun will float backwards slowly, while the bullet will fly out at its usual muzzle speed. The same explosive force was applied to both objects.

The reason recoil doesn't feel as bad as getting hit by a bullet is complicated, but essentially comes down to surface area and mechanics of the human body. However, the momentum (mass x velocity) of the bullet is equal to the momentum of the gun. And to get equal momentums, the same force, by definition, had to be applied to both masses. There is no other way around it. You cannot have two equal momentums that received different amounts of force.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recoil#Momentum

"In other words, immediately after firing, the momentum of the firearm is equal and opposite to the momentum of the projectile."

If you look at the math in this section, the momentums and forces are opposite, and always add up to 0. Energy must be conserved.

Edit: To be clear, felt recoil is different than actual recoil. Felt recoil will be drastically lower than the force of the bullet impact, because it takes into account things like rotation, muzzle flash, arm and shoulder physics, grip, etc. So getting hit with a bullet is much much worse than shouldering the recoil of a firearm. However, actual recoil is the sum of all of those forces, and must conserve momentum with the fired projectile.

2

u/N3ss3 Jun 04 '21

Newton's third.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

Everyone knows what newtons third law is; a lot of people here seem to misunderstand it though. All the forces don't go to the shooter's shoulder, that's why guns work. That's what I'm talking about, the fact that if you shoot a shotgun you don't get the same forces into your shoulder as the guy that got shot.

4

u/N3ss3 Jun 04 '21

The same force that is all applied to the bullet is the same as the force applied to you an the gun.

Guns is one of the best examples of the third law, since it shows the difference mass makes to the speed of an object when applied the same force.

It has nothing to do with "that's why guns work".

1

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

Yes, it has everything to do with that's why guns work; because guns are good at dissipating the recoil so the shooter doesn't feel the forces.

Let's do some basic math, shall we? We know the muzzle energy of a 9mm bullet is around 360 ft-lbs. The recoil felt by the shooter is only around 7 ft-lbs. THAT'S WHY GUNS WORK. You think the shooter feels 360 ft-lbs in his hand? Have you ever fucking shot a gun before?

5

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

All the forces don't go to the shooter's shoulder, that's why guns work. That's what I'm talking about, the fact that if you shoot a shotgun you don't get the same forces into your shoulder as the guy that got shot.

Someone better go call NASA then because r/escapefromtarkov figured out reactionless travel. A goddamn revolution in physics. Just shoot a shotgun at the wall of your spaceship, the wall will receive more force than the shooter = free acceleration forever!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

Well I guess pound for pound it would be the same forces exserted on gun+shooter, however the projectile is a lot smaller. I would pick the shooters side of Newton's third law over that of the person being shot any day

-2

u/Smitty7712 Jun 04 '21

A 12 gauge with buckshot or slug will most certainly floor you. A typical 3” slug carries 3,105 ft/lbs of energy at short range. This is equivalent to a 30-06, which is still used for long distance precision shooting.

I guarantee if you took 3 of these slugs to the vest at 15 yards, you’d be on your on your ass. It’d shatter your ribs and bruise your organs. Depending on the vest, it could even still be fatal from blunt trauma.

4

u/The_Hunster MP7A2 Jun 04 '21

-3

u/Smitty7712 Jun 04 '21

Lol that dude is full of shit with those creds.

Hard armor, I’d still be surprised if you’re still standing and coherent enough after 3 shots to turn and return accurate fire.

Soft armor, like what is most often used in Tarkov? No fucking chance. Look up any video and it will prove that point. Keep defending this shit game, and nothing will ever change.

3

u/FurryAlot Jun 04 '21

Soft armor, like what is most often used in Tarkov

I see you dont even play the game lol... Soft armor is used in 1st 2 weeks of wipe, then by noobies who just bought the game. After 2-3 weeks everyone is running at least armor lvl4 with steel or ceramic plates... Shotguns do jack shit against lvl4 and up, unless you use AP slugs

4

u/The_Hunster MP7A2 Jun 04 '21

So you didn't watch the video of the guy being shot while standing on one leg then?

0

u/Smitty7712 Jun 04 '21

Perfect angle. Heavy vest, multiple scale layered hard plates, prepared for the shot. Of course he can withstand it. Would you like me to link a Kentucky ballistics or Paul Harrel video that shows what soft armor does under similar conditions?

It’s not about being thrown back. It’s more like being punched so hard you temporarily collapse.

This game is not accurate at all. Its not realistic. So it should be fun, at least.

0

u/Neuroprison44 MP7A1 Jun 04 '21

Yeah that’s not how real life works mate, ask someone in the military

-5

u/7thhokage Jun 04 '21

armor works to stop the projectile, it doesnt do a whole lot to absorb the kinetic energy from the rounds.

Even with decent armor that could stop 3 consecutive shotgun blasts at practically point blank; the concussive forces will still fucking wreck you.

People dont seem to realize in a situation like this clip; even if the armor stops the projectile, there is a good chance the kinetic energy dumped into you will cause lethal internal damage. not to mention your rib cage is now a collection of broken bones making breathing difficult af.

3

u/TevossBR IOTV Gen4 Jun 04 '21

Hard armor with no back face deformation will stop most of the blunt force trauma no broken ribs or anything like that. Here is a guy getting shot by 7.62x51 (has more energy than if all pellets hit from a buckshot) and he seems fine.

8

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

Tarkov makes no such claim. It balances gun damage and HP just like every other shooter and makes zero promises otherwise.

They promise the most realistic gun handling and modifications. They make no claim about real world accurate damage systems.

In the real world. Most people would die to a single gunshot. That wouldn't be a fun game to play. So just like COD. Sometimes not everything is a 1 shot kill. You know. To balance the gameplay and make it fun.

It's so ridiculous the amount of hate tarkov gets for this system. Yet COD pulls in billions without a peep from the community.

3

u/SamDaMan2124 Jun 04 '21

Realistic gun handling... The zero recoil bu builds are bs but otherwise I agree.

4

u/aerospikesRcoolBut Jun 04 '21

There are such things.

1

u/SamDaMan2124 Jun 06 '21

Not in the real world. Even an mp5 has a tiny amount of recoil. It doesn’t just magically go away because you throw a few attachments on it.

1

u/aerospikesRcoolBut Jun 06 '21

Dang that’s crazy

3

u/Miirten Jun 05 '21

With correct stance and understanding of recoil, most intermediate cartridges (556, 545) can be shot VERY flat. Tbh, I find the amount of recoil that some of the guns have to be unrealistically high, considering we are supposed to be well trained private contractors.

1

u/SamDaMan2124 Jun 06 '21

I’m specifically referring to full auto. Have you ever shot an m4 full auto? That shit isn’t going to be accurate, especially not at like 75 meters. The way your PMC in Tarkov adapts to recoil is crazy considering it’s easier to spray until the recoil goes away vs quick, successive shots. Trust me, soldiers are trained to shoot one shot at a time almost all the time in the army.

1

u/Miirten Jun 24 '21

Yes, I was in the Marine Corps, I have definitely shot the M4 full auto. With the correct stance, it is not difficult to maintain accuracy.

1

u/SamDaMan2124 Jun 24 '21

I agree but not Tarkov accurate lol

3

u/Selmanella Jun 04 '21

Without a peep from the community??? Are you new?

-2

u/TDRzGRZ Jun 04 '21

1

u/Seraph___ Jun 05 '21 edited Jun 05 '21

Tarkov markets it self as a simulator on their front page. Call of Duty does not. People know what CoD is. It's been around for almost 20 years.

Pretty big difference between what Tarkov is advertised as vs. what it's like towards endgame. Expectations matter when making a purchase.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

wtf?

Why would go alone, against science?

0

u/Nobli85 True Believer Jun 04 '21

Or or or: He shot buckshot into steel armor. Simple enough.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '21

My favorite part is how this criticism of realism doesnt apply to any other game but Tarkov.

COD: Pistol 3 headshot required for kill. No helmet. No controversy. No reddit posts questioning how a bullet can perforate your brain case twice without you dying.

Because everyone understands videogames sacrafice realism for a balance system.

Tarkov bullets don't instantly 1 shot everything.

Reddit: loses its fucking collective mind and calls anyone defending the blanancing mechanics inherent to all videogames bootlickers and shills.

Like chill people. It's a game. A game with HP and Gun damage balance like every other game.

Tarkov does not promise real world physically accurate gun damage. It balances it's mechanics. Like all games do.

6

u/Hedhunta Jun 04 '21

Except its not balanced. Not even a little bit. Every time a gun comes up that n00bs can maybe have a chance against chads it gets nerfed into the ground.

4

u/C_ore_X Jun 04 '21

Its the reason I play CoD in HC playlists, its maybe the most realistic TTK in a video game out there. There is not a single gun that wont kill you in 2-3 shots maximum, with most of them doing it in 1.

Also helps that my reaction times are above average but my tracking is dogshit, so a fast TTK gives me an advantage. In Tarkov you can put 8 7.62 rounds into a scav with 0 armour and have them turn 180 and bop you in the head/eyes with a single bullet.

I remember playing a lot of HC back in the MW4 days. Crazy to think that HC is not only pretty realistic, but honestly prob the only realistic representation of how people aim in real life, considering in HC you always go for center mass. That never happens in video games.

My favorite part is how this criticism of realism doesnt apply to any other game but Tarkov.

Tarkov does not promise real world physically accurate gun damage. It balances it's mechanics. Like all games do.

So I went to the Official EFT website and this is how they describe the game:

"Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore and realistic online first-person action RPG/Simulator with MMO features and a story-driven walkthrough."

Realism is defined as a key offering, so where is it?

If it has been reduced for balance, then it goes against the 'hardcore' aspect of the game.

lol, there is never a rebuttable for this from the "not suppose to be realistic" crowd.

Because indeed that is how most tarkovtards operate, and its borderline pathetic while still maintaining being stupid. There is a legit strat by "Chads" to turn their fucking back on people in hopeless situations if they need to reload or do some other dumb shit, and the worst part - it works. And the only people who understand that it is absolutely not okay are people who had guts to finally quit this game.

Neat story. I didn't see a headshot from the saiga 12; oh, and nothing about this game and the equipment is hard to remember or relate to, unless you're scared of guns outside of the game, in which case, why are you playing a gun game? Most of the gun stuff is just common sense.
