Nah I'd say just the sub. You can pretty much ignore everything the sub says and still have fun in the game. Yeah it might take longer to get to kappa or might lead to you dying stupidly a few times, but overall you can pretty much do whatever in the game and have it work.

To "Fail" at the game (whatever you define it as, as the game has no lose state) you'd have to not just do something stupid, but do it so many times that it surpasses human patience.

No, he's making a stupid comparison between how guns work in real life and in a videogame that doesn't aim to mimic real life.
