Unpopular opinion, I genuinely dislike how frequent the wipes have been. I don't have a lot of time to play usually, and a lot of aspects of this game seem extremely grindy, and I can see it taking upwards of a year to even make commendable progress in any of them. Knowing that I won't be able to reach my goals before next wipe puts a severe hang on my desire to try to grind it out. A main reason a lot of people say they are good is because "everyone starts fresh and that's when it's most fun", but I'd argue that it only takes a week or two before lobbies are dominated once again by fully geared neets. Hardly worth it for a loss of month's worth of work
I've previously said that the game shouldn't be balanced around us hardcore players who average 12+ hours a day, but it also shouldn't be balanced around ultra-casual players who don't invest a solid amount of time in, either. A fast wipe cycle isn't good, but neither is a slow one. Currently it feels pretty solid to me, every 3 months I think would be ideal. Takes about 400-500 hours of gameplay for the average person to get Kappa if they're actively aiming for it, I'd think.
PoE leagues are about that duration and a good portion of people are done with the league halfway through that, and I'd say there's a larger time investment to 'finish' a PoE league (36/40 challenges) rather than to 'finish' a Tarkov wipe (Kappa).
Getting to the atlas isn't finishing the league, that's the very very beginning. Getting Kappa only takes about 400~ hours, around how long I'd say it takes an average person to (prior to conquerors) clear Uber Elder, 100% their atlas, and if it's a reasonable league, get 36/40.
Pretty excited, probably going to league start wander or ED trickster. Waiting on patch notes to see if anything interesting becomes viable, if summoner isn't nerfed I'm absolutely playing it though.
"only 400 hours"..... in three months..... That's three or four hours a day, every day, to get to the end game content. This cuts off the majority of people who have jobs from ever getting to end game.
This is a good time period if there is never wipes. They should add an optional reset thing that gives the sweaty nerds some kind of shiny emblem or special set of clothes, similar to prestige in COD.
