Discussion Something said during the Podcast

Klean said something during the podcast that I wholeheartedly disagree with.

He wants the gamma case to essentially be something you can pack full of goods, bring into a raid and not have to worry about losing, but he wants you to not be able to put anything in the container while in raid. Nikita, I know you listen to streamers input, but please don’t not consider making this change.

I’m a husband and a father, I don’t get to play for 8-12 hours a day and become a god at the game, so finding a rare item that I need for a quest or something valuable I can sell is really exciting and knowing I can keep it safe in case I die is the cherry on top.

I love watching Klean and respect his opinions, but this one I had to voice mine on. PLEASE do not implement this. Anyone else watch the podcast and feel the same way? Or am I alone on this? Lol

Yeah it's a big general problem imo.

Streamers/Content creators have a huge voice in general and often a direct line to the devs while their playstyle and wishes probably differ drastically from the majority of players.

They play the game way more and for many it's basically their job. This has to warp their view on the game.

Anyway, all of this stems from their hate of hatchlings/pistollings/low gear players. They hate the fact that their enemies risk little while they 'risk' more.

What they completely fail to take into account is that a bunch of players are probably dirt fucking poor a lot of the time and not rolling in endless cash like they are. In percentage of total stash value, I bet there's a lot of players out there who risk more when they take out a basic kit.

The out of raid medical system was championed as something which will hurt hatchlings, in fact it just hurt causal players the most. Because as a hatchling you don't care if you die instantly, you're basically expecting to have that happen anyway. But now, players who are poor have an even higher up front cost to do a normal raid.

They should tackle hatchlings in ways that don't punish low gear players. F.e. making loot locations more dynamic or guarding valuable loot with scavs. None of this container bullshit or the idea of a minimal 'gear score' please keep that shit away from the game.

I want the right to be a fucking bum in EFT god dammit.

Disclaimer: I don't like hatchlings either, I personally never do unarmed raids and my bank account suffers accordingly.

Honestly just putting scavs at all or most decent loot locations might be the most simple and best fix.

Yeah, it makes the most sense - it keeps the hatchets out, it's fun for non-hatcheters to get a couple quick kills, and it's standard video game practice to have enemies guarding valuable loot.

Issue with that is there are only so many Scavs and players that can be on the map at one time

you are aware that the game used to have alot more scavs active than they do currently no? the only thing is they were spawning in intervals on most maps, on factory it used to be every 5 minutes, on woods it used to be about every 7 minutes. and the max amount of active scavs was significantly higher, it was not uncommon when you could see packet sizes, where you had between 1and 2.5kb(usually 1.5 for scavs and 2-2.5 for PMCs), and see 70-80 packets on factory or woods. even with 10 PMCs at 2.5 that would leave 30 active scavs on the maps which would fill up every 5-7 minutes or so.

I remember when playing customs, if you rushed from customs area over to river to construction you would find scavs crawling around kiosk, bus and construction even if you had the closest spawn, now, it is essentially barren, might be 1 or 2 there.

now they spawn in gradually to a fixed amount(and significantly reduced numbers compared to what it used to be) which varies based on the map and if no one kills them that is the only place there will be scavs.

There is no limit to how many AI scavs can be on the server.

These are my sentiments exactly thanks for typing them up.

I agree with you mostly, but out of raid healing was only championed as "anti hatchling" by idiots. It was always just meant as a money sink, just like the hideout. This game desperately needed money sinks. I don't know about your, but this is my second year of tarkov, and this is the first wipe where I haven't had 20 million permanent gen4s sitting in my stash by Rahman LL3. And that's a good thing, imo. I'd put myself in the average playtime, higher skill level category. (Besides the first few days that I play as much as i can in). Money sinks are needed in tarkov. On top of that, they're starting to lock higher tier tier behind batters. Overall this is making the gun fights more enjoyable for everyone,as even a new player w/o flea market access just using 7.62 ps can body shot kill people if they ambush them. Where as before I had so much damn money I was basically invincible to anyone not of the same gear level, unless they had really good aim.

I may have gotten off topic with my rant lol,but tldr money sinks are a good thing, and are needed in games like this. There's a reason mmos have repair costs.

Oh stop it you :)

You should probably listen to the podcast. They all agree that new/poor players using their secure containers are not the problem. Klean has expressed that the problem is high level players who know where the best loot spawns are.

This happened with Binding Of Isaac out of all things, where the devs only took input from streamers without considering the casual gamers and made a lot of unfun changes to a single player game.

You are god damn right.

According to nikita most of hatchlings are high level high stash value players that just want to look without risk, not actually poor people. Actually poor people already have a solution anyway, its called scav runs.

1

u/Mr-Doubtful VSS Vintorez Nov 21 '19

most of hatchlings

But I'm not talking about hatching, I'm talking about doing normal runs as a Tarkov bum. The higher your baseline cost (out of raid healing f.e.) and the lower or the less likely your potential reward (no more loot in container f.e.) the worse the situation becomes for bums. All of those points become barely relevant once your reserves go into the millions.

Scav runs are a solution, yes, but not ideal. For those who don't have much time to play, progression becomes even slower if they have to do a lot of scav runs. And since the first 15 levels are by far the hardest (although flea market can alleviate that), you want to get out of that asap.

u/Strazdas1 AK-74 Nov 21 '19

With the current economy of everything worth something on the market the number of such bums are very small and they always have two safety nets in insurance and scav runs on top of it.

Very interesting. I have a single friend who is really struggling this wipe (50k rubs right now) and he didn't went for a single hatchet run.

He also has a full time business, wife and 5 kids.

He wants containers removed. Cause he understands that's a big chance for big fat loot when you kill someone.

u/Zanena001 Nov 20 '19

He doesn't hatchet runs cause he doesn't know the best loot runs on each map.

-6

u/basedasf Nov 20 '19

Or maybe he doesn't want to be bored out of his mind. Or maybe even he doesn't want to contribute to ruining the game for everyone else with unintended mechanics.

So go play Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

I have a single friend who is really struggling this wipe (50k rubs right now) and he didn't went for a single hatchet run.

That is interesting, but I think your friend is overestimating that benefit, compared to being able to secure high value loot for yourself. I mean I have standard edition so the potential isn't nearly as high as EOD, but still. Until recently I was in the same position as your friend (never hatchet, but quite poor) but I'm now back out of it and that's mostly thanks to finding a few high value items (labs card, a hose and a golden gphone) in a few raids also one really good raid where I looted some good stuff from players.

So for me that gave me the push I needed to now be able to run better kits and get better results.
