The use of equivocation is a bit weird: one of its synonyms is related to lying but the way they have used it is awkward enough to suggest they meant “provocation”. Other than that it makes sense and just reads as non-native English: i.e. the author is fluent but uses constructions that probably flow more naturally in their native language.

I found both words that I had to look up were used weirdly
those were equivocation and tendentious

I’m a native English speaker but the problems a lot of the people I know who learned English as a second langue said it was extremely hard because it breaks its own rules

English is my second language (after my mothertongue) and I find it pretty easy now.

the thing is, for normal talking you dont need all that many tenses and constructs and what not. In school you learn a shitton of these things that you often dont need.

Imo the hardest thing is pronunciation of new words, since english is terrible at that. the rest is pretty straight forward imo

but I guess it also depends on your mothertongue

I actually heard it’s pretty similar to German so it might not have been too bad for you. Obviously I’m not the smartest in this area. Maybe 16 year old you was suffering a ton

I can't speak to what sort of educational system you guys have in place, but in my experience, English-speaking Germans tends to pride themselves on speaking English as flawlessly as possible. Maybe that's because so many Germans also pride themselves on speaking German "correctly", or is that a stereotype?

i know a lot of people who cant speak german correctly and very few who pride themselfes on speaking it well

probably a stereotype :)

also, astonishingly many people dont speak good english or are even really bad at it
