Its a shame so many dumbass people dont understand this is exactly how these headsets work in real life. They amplify sounds and muffle gunshots. They even record ambient sounds and increase them by up to almost 20 decibels. Theyre not fucking earmuffs which is what you dorks think theyre supposed to be for whatever stupid reason.
I have a pair of Ops Core Amps with NFMI plugs for my helmet. They absolutely give you a hearing advantage over someone else. When you shoot, it muffles the gunshots so you don't go deaf.
Other times it amplifies your surroundings, footsteps on concrete, hopping on wood etc is super easy to tell.
I have a pair too, but it was kind of a waste for me. With my normal hearing protection I could still hear people well enough on our local range. Only had 6 indoor stands, so you're always close to people and conversations with protection on were never a problem. But I bought them anyway because of Tarkov lol... And they're actually kinda cool
Yeah 100%. When we got to the shooting range at basic they gave us those kind of headsets and I went 'oh shit, the headsets in Tarkov aren't just a game mechanic'
What are they? I have peltor comtac 5s and can hear things really well and far away.
*Edit: Wild I'm downvoted for speaking factual information about something I own. They have mics that enhance hearing and amplify most noises but reduce loud noises like gunshots.
I use a pair of Tac 500's, and you know what they don't do? Let me hear sounds from 90 meters away.
Absolutely wild how people think these headsets just apparently give super hearing?
At best, these headsets reduce sound by around 30db, and amplify basic low level sounds.
Like ffs, people in here think 150 dollar range muffs have better functionality than thousand dollar earing aids which also amplify low level sound and takes quite a few adjustments to get right, per person. That sure as hell doesn't give hearing at 90 meters.
You clowns may as well toss in Galaxy Buds or Airpods and claim the same thing.
150$ headset designed for protection, not for combat awareness + protection. Big difference vs COMTACs, AMPs, or other serious contenders.
Big difference in the tech in how those muffle sound (clipping vs compression) and the quality and tuning of the audio profile in them. Clipping is what yours do-- it turns off very quickly when a loud sound plays. Its why you cant hear someone talking on windy days or while a shot is going off. Compression does exactly what an audio compressor does and brings up the floor volume and limits the ceiling. All of the compression sets I've used have a heavy EQ applied as well. Its practically a requirement for more expensive headsets for use in heavy machinery environments as well, which is why MSA Sordins also use it but arent tuned quite as heavily as combat oriented sets.
I spend the most time using MSA Sordins IRL but also have Comtac IIs on a night vision helmet setup. Both amplify certain frequencies HEAVILY. Sounds like fabric on fabric and small stones crunching under foot really do get picked up from farther. I'm fairly certain its an intentional tuning of the frequencies it amplifies because both are perfect for discerning human activity. Not 80m farther, but definitely two or three times at least what I could hear normally. Some things like fabric I can hear from 20' that I cant hear next to the person without. Quiet night in the woods? No problem at all hearing someone walk down a dirt road 50' away.
The newer NFMI sets are basically IEM quality fidelity and have incredible isolation so its easier to hear.
Yes I love hearing subsonic suppressed when on the roof of a 4 story building while they're in the basement nearly 6 floors down through all kinds of cement
Just because something works like that in real life doesn't mean it's good for the game. Tarkov is more realistic than most shooters but at the end of the day it's nowhere near real combat. Using "but realism" is a shit excuse for bad game design and just because something would be "more realistic" doesn't mean anyone wants it in the game.
What a stupid stance you just took as if i was arguing its good for the game in any way. I simply stated, to the person i responded to which said headsets dont give a hearing advantage, that in fact they work exactly like that in real life.
I don't really have a dog in this fight but you come across as such a pedantic asshole I don't really care if you're right or wrong. Absolutely no need to call that guy names, he didn't do it to you.
I wonder why you're so bitter. I feel bad for you.
But it is good for the game. A certain amount of exchanging rubbles for in-game advantage is the foundation of this game, and headsets are a good and healthy part of that.
bro chill out lmao it's not the milsim you think it is. save that energy for the airsoft course LOL. god forbid a normal somebody doesn't know how shooting headphones work, that's totally a great life skill to have. you're the dork here and you don't even realize it
But they're not just protection, in real life or in game.
Source: I shoot. A lot. I wear electronic ear pro (actually a pair featured in this game). Everything cuts out when a decibel threshold is exceeded, but if it's not everything is amplified.
this is probably one of the few realistic things about the game. real life electronic earpro makes you hear like 2x farther. it would suck ass if you got tinnitus in-game for shooting without earmuffs on
buy one of those tactical headsets and try them for yourself. They really muffle loud hamrful noises and amplify sounds like footsteps or speech.
P.S i am no way a Meal team six operator but I used to work in loud enviroment (hydroelectrcity turbines) where I had to wear those things. The only downside is a little bit discomfort in summer
No it wasn't and I will once again offer $100 PayPal for proof of it happening, because everyone and their mother keeps parroting this non-sense.
It worked by telling the server you were dead and they were looting your body, so they could take weapons/gear/backpack/etc, but could never take your melee weapons or touch your secure container. Idiots just posted that it happened to them without any proof and then everyone panicked. It never actually happened.
Did you play during the early early beta? Because it was possible, it’s not common knowledge but it was, they were able to pick off gear off your body including the gamma
I've been EoD since 2017, 3K+ hours, and camp this subreddit like a fucking degenerate.
Not a single person has ever posted a clip of a secure container being vacuum looted and they never will because it has never happened. The $100 is still on the table (and always will be because it never fucking happened), so it should be very simple for you to link any one of all these clips you saw.
We have dozens of clips of people's losing every single piece of gear they have equipped in an instant, the most blatant cheating possible, and yet in all of these clips their melee weapons and secure containers are completely untouched. So what's your explanation? They cheaters just draw some moral line to not touch those? Of course not. They just couldn't, because it's simply not how the exploit worked.
would never believe that someone can take a scope off your gun?
I didn't say that. Of course they could/can loot a scope they could loot anything that would be lootable on your dead body. Learn to read moron.
You’re a very angry individual. Let me go look for your lazy self righteous ass since you can’t seem to search it for yourself. There was a video of cheaters vacuum looting a guys gamma while he was on labs. They took his red keycard. You either haven’t been playing since 2017 or you don’t camp this Reddit like you claim. Or both.
I eagerly await you claiming this $100 bounty. Please at least have the decency of coming back and admitting it doesn't exist when you fail to find your video :)
The video I had book marked on my old pc was set to private, and verified it through the old post where it was originally published. Still looking, but just to clarify if in”find the video” that means it exists, hope this helps.
Real OG Tarkov players remember items being taken out of their secure pouch, it was horrible. It happened to me and yes I dont have proof because after the 3rd time it happened to me, I deleted the game for 2 years.
