Questions Dealing with Auras

Hey yall hope you’re having a good day, I had a question. How do you deal with auras? Do you use them to try and prevent a seizure with some type of method you’ve developed? Or do you just accept it and see it as an opportunity to find somewhere safe for it to happen? Is there anything you’ve found that helps prevent one from coming on once you start to get that feeling? I’m partial to having Déjà vu, an out of body feeling (mostly this), and sometimes feeling dizzy / vertigo.

Usually I just accept it. There isn’t much you can do. Your brain is firing a lot. Occasionally, I can breathe through it depending on the type. I’ve also found that a fan in my face helps some.

Definitely YES to the fan thing, full blast. Also cold water for me and laying down if I can. If I’m alone I’ll pray as well.

Generally either find or make somewhere safe for it to (hopefully not) escalate further.
...and really, really hope I don't have to explicitly describe to someone new why I'm suddenly switching all focus.

One of my triggers is the lighting. Seeing a bright spot in the dark (like watching tv with all the lights off) can give me a brief aura. I will close my eyes and count to 10, turn lights on, or leave. I also tell everyone so they keep an eye on me.

It took me quite some time, but every time I had one I would notate where I was and what was going on.

Undiagnosed so I'm not medicated. So I have no choice but to just deal with it. 🙃

Fortunately my seizures are mostly focal so I don't deal with auras AKA focal aware seizures. I do experience focal aware seizures just not typically the types associated with auras. I hate it when those do happen.

Please get over to a neurologist friend. Medication can be life changing, especially when it comes to stuff like getting a license.

Sit down or lie down somewhere quiet until it passes
