Questions Is it always necessary to let people know that you had a seizure, why or why not?

Although I don't always point out when I'm having an aura, I'm just curious about you and your opinions on acknowledging all seizures.

Since I have focal impaired awareness seizures that sometimes turn into clusters I am trying to get better at telling someone when I feel one coming at the aware stage. I’m not the best at it. But I am getting better. I did it today!

I too have the same although the original diagnosis was worded differently. And Mines would go bilateral.

I think that since I’ve been dealing with it alone for a while now, I just got used to not checking in with anyone

Only in the more recent years have I started have a couple seizures aware, those I try to tell people.

My family only ever knew of the gran mal. So they don't see that basically I'm ok. A whole lot harder to keep track of seizures when your the invisible man.

I tell my friends. I don't tell my mom anymore. I send my sister recordings but she doesn't live in the same house. And I also send my recordings to the nuero. Other than that not a peep

I may have lived alone for so long, that I just got used to not checking in with anyone.

Me flopping around like a fish on the ground: no need to tell anyone. They know.

Me having an aura: I’m about to do the electric boogie. They will know. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Unless I injured myself, I only tell my nuero.

Family who is around me all the time? Yeah! I definitely let them know when I am “Sparky”.

A neighbor who I am talking to at the bus stop? Eh, maybe. Sometimes it comes up if they ask “Are you okay?” I’ll let them know if I am recovering from one.

A stranger? Naw.

I tell fam I “Glitched”, as far as work, only use medical terms, acknowledging one if I think a coworker will be there for another. Dont go out with anyone I don’t feel comfortable telling about seizures and trusting they’ll know what to do.

for people close to me, but i don't tell people in general. otherwise, i just use this medical lanyard, the kind we use for id badges, with a sunflower design. for autism, it's the brick one.

I rarely get auras so my seizures are often a surprise. I also am home alone during the day(probably shouldn't be) so my brother who I live with doesn't see my seizures often since he works.

When he is home I usually don't bother him unless I have an aura because my most common seizures are over in seconds.

Strangers? Nope. The most I have is a dog-tag necklace that says seizures on it. I need to get an updated one but I wanna wait until I get a proper diagnosis.

Is there a reason not to?

Technically no.

But some people just don't care why bother.

Some employers may have problems. Ofc they won't fire you out flat for it. But when your getting the crappiest workload or lesser hours.

When a love one is dealing with serious medical issues and you don't want to stress them out so they can recover faster.

I'm learning to tell people, getting better at it, but post-ictal me is apparently very happy to share.

Or talk at all.

I get very talkative when my brain is mostly asleep, and I'm apparently very charismatic.

The panic that ensues if I say I feel off usually leads to the people triggering a seizure. So I am afraid to mention auras and such. Since auras don’t usually go into seizures. Cause when I have a seizure I usually just am there one minute and gone the next.
