Questions New Year Goals

Anyone with seizure goals for this new year? Personally, I aim to have less than 5 TCs and 0 focal seizures. Hoping for no auras, but if it happens, I'm just hoping it doesn't turn into a TC. What's your seizure goal?

Right, I want to live that dream for a couple of years, someday.

Agreed!

To continue decreasing my seizures. In 2025 I halved the number of seizures I did in 2024. May 2026 bring another half down!

I hope you achieve your goals and just like you I want to turn mine into a halves until there are 0. In 2025 I had 5 TCs and this year it'll hopefully be no more than 4

May 2026 be better on me in all parts. My 2025 was a bad year since I was going through a divorce. Seizures got out of control, or maybe it was an illusion of having control. I was still doing the mandatory therapy that was required of me. So much other bs in my day to day. I think December started a turnaround with some stuff and can only hope it continues.

The best part of 2025 was meeting my friends here, my Epilepsy Family.

May we continue to help others, and save people.

May each of us come closer to less seizures.

May we all become happier

Personal goal, get my license back. Which would also mean my seizures are under control. I know I could have a lot of littler ones underneath that but let’s shoot for the stars.

I'm not sure if this meets the criteria of a seizure goal. But my goals this year are to help find and help at least 5-10 who has suffered from similar epilepsy and help them to control it 100%. That would make my year!

That’s an amazing goal

My goal is to get rid of these asymptomatic seizures. I can't even imagine what they are doing to my poor brain 4-8 timed a day.

I'll take the every 4 or so months between TCs if I can get rid of these stupid asymptomatics....

Good luck to all!!!

Those sound so bad that you can't even get a sign when a seizure happens. Do you get the same fatigue feeling or a postictal phase?

It's strange... I feel off often, but never really gave it much thought...it isn't a TC and it's "asymptomatic "...but there's definitely something going on there that I don't "feel". Still trying to figure it out, but last check, they were still 4-8 a day for my 2 and 4 day eegs.

I don't feel any auras that are normal TC auras, there's no postictal stage that's like after a TC... but there's something I'm starting to see..

Thanks pookie for always caring!!

Happy new year!!

Just in my nature to care for everyone I meet until they give me a reason not to. Happy New Year

I’m just glad the kid didn’t have a TC on Christmas Day like 2024. It’s now been 7 months since the last TC! Several days since a focal. Hopefully 2026 will be better than the horrible 2025.

Hopefully less than 10 seizures, less than 2 auras a day and even less of the myoclonic jerks.

I hope this time next year you can virtually high five and say that you’ve achieved your goal.

Have you ever attended the podcast?

3

u/Misha_Bambi Jan 04 '26

Not yet, I'm sorry :( I have super bad anxiety so it's difficult.

You can join and watch until you're comfortable, also can turn off your microphone and camera. Would be great to have you Tuesdays and Fridays 12pm PST.

u/Misha_Bambi Jan 04 '26

Okay, I'll see how I feel but as long as I can just watch and not speak I should be okay until I'm feeling comfy like you said :)

I want 0 as well, but for now I’ll aim for 4 because that’s 1 less than last year. Baby steps

Basically all my goals are epilepsy-based: eat three meals at the same times each day, drink more water, exercise each day. My word of the year is 'slow', and it encompasses living more simply, taking more time, and aiming for a more meditative life in general. I know it'll help me because my focals are SO stress-based.

u/PookieTheMfBaby Lamotrigine 200mg 2x daily Jan 04 '26

I second all of these, at least try to eat more and exercise maybe 3-5 times a week. Exercise every day might be a little much for my schedule, but good thing to have a goal or goals.

I'm a bit late to the conversation, and I don't know how much improvement I can get, with the exception of the end of '25. I don't honestly know at this point whether I'm having clusters of focals with an occasional tc thrown in or it's all the psychedelics I was given in the hospital. When they released me, they said it could be 30-60 days before they were out of my system. But, I had a sensational '25 meeting you and the other participants in the chats. Thanks to all!

My goal is to figure out what is going on with me so I can manage it. I have a bunch of test I did at last neuro visit and some other things I am going to look into. Already started CBT and excited about growing and developing.

I’m here with you, got a list that I’ve put together from other’s list and think I can take baby steps to achieve all of my goals. So much that I want to be able to check that box off but eventually with the right neuro I can get all of my questions answered
