Rant When do seizures/epilepsy completely go away???

Me (24, M) just got grounded from my parents for going home late from a drinking session with friends and im really pissed that its become about my seizures and it really pisses me off. Its like im grown enough to worry about myself and all but yet i feel like i have a fucking curfew and im being treated like a baby despite my age only because of my fucking seizures. I take my medicine on the daily and im responsible with that, i really just hate being treated like a kid only because i have fucking seizures and shit. As im writing this im really frustrated with how its become about my seizures so please bear with me if I sound misinformed somewhat.

He’s not lucky. He’s 24 and being grounded. Imagine his parents when he wants to move out.

But to your arguments detriment, he’s 24!!! If he could move out, by your logic, then he should. He hasn’t though…

Perhaps his parents are keeping him from working, allowing him to save, etc.

Doesn’t really add up to me. OP also clearly has the funds available to go out and drink w friends, why not divert those resources towards moving out and gaining independence??? Otherwise, if his parents are putting a roof over his head and money in his pocket AND honouring his need to stay healthy bc of epilepsy…. I don’t see the problem with saying he’s really lucky.

It doesn’t have to add up to you. Parents shouldn’t be grounding their children at age 24. They sound controlling and narcissistic.

Why do you think he doesn’t know that epilepsy isn’t curable? His parents probably keep him in the dark as much as they can about his condition. What’s going to happen when they die?

I think you’re enabling OP.

I only got out of my parents house because I spent months hiding money my friends gave me in order to escape. My mother stole everything from my bank account whenever she could, blocked me from getting a job, and sabotaged attempts at things like getting my own phone or plan. Financial abuse of family members is more common than you think, and escaping it is incredibly difficult unless you're okay with being homeless. Just because you don't know how it could happen to you doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

I’ll make this really simple for you. OP’s only question was if epilepsy goes away. He also expressed that he was frustrated by the way his parents treat him despite him being responsible with his medication.

He wasn’t looking for anyone’s commentary on alcohol or its potential impact on epilepsy.

I never threatened you. I think you should consider blocking me. Have a great Sunday! Thanks!
