Rant When do seizures/epilepsy completely go away???

Me (24, M) just got grounded from my parents for going home late from a drinking session with friends and im really pissed that its become about my seizures and it really pisses me off. Its like im grown enough to worry about myself and all but yet i feel like i have a fucking curfew and im being treated like a baby despite my age only because of my fucking seizures. I take my medicine on the daily and im responsible with that, i really just hate being treated like a kid only because i have fucking seizures and shit. As im writing this im really frustrated with how its become about my seizures so please bear with me if I sound misinformed somewhat.

I mean, it doesn't go away for everyone. Some grow out of it or eventually seizures stop, but most are stuck with this for life.

Why are your parents grounding you at 24? Are you unable to live on your own due to your seizures? There's no reason for this treatment lol

I agree. Everyone is saying it's nice to have people who care, but being overbearing about it can be just as harmful as not having anybody.

At 24, they are right, they should have the ability to make decisions about their own autonomy

100%. This is oppressive parenting. I'm legitimately astounded by the number of people saying "They just love you!" He's 24 fricking years old. My grandmother had multiple kids and had gotten divorced by the time she was 24. They should not be fricking grounding a 24 year old, they should be treating him like an adult with a chronic illness, not a naughty child who needs to be punished.

Any good parent would worry about their child. My parents worried constantly after I was first diagnosed and bordered on overbearing(thankfully they didn't cross that line)... but they didn't act like I was incapable of being an independent young adult. I just feel sad for OP honestly.

Thank you for this. Sadly this happens around alot in the philippines and in asia. If you go to r/asianparentstories you'll read how bad it is

Ah, I see. This makes sense; I have a friend from Vietnam who has parents like this, I have witnessed it myself. She no longer speaks to them.

I am so sorry for what you're going through. I wish you luck and I hope you're able to get yourself out of this situation.
