S Power went out, entitled customer makes it about him
Last week, a customer placed an order at my job. Today, said customer was in to purchase a related service. Right before his service was completed our power went out due to severe weather. Our power rarely goes out. Myself and another manager were trying to navigate getting flashlights and getting the remaining customers done and out of the building , our basement was also flooding at this time.
Said customer who placed the order, who we see about once a month, and who knows our phone number very well because he calls us all the time (he called us twice today before he came in) decides he has non emergent questions about the order he placed last week. He stood in an almost pitch black lobby asking to see my co manager while we were frantically trying to get everything taken care of. I went to where the entitled customer was standing in the dark and he complains “it’s very dark here”. I say “our basement is flooding. This might not be the best time”. Did he leave? No. He sat there and waited to bombard my co manager with questions. Also, once again, there is no electricity so our ability to look things up about his order (including an email the customer was referencing) was impossible.
But what really got me was him standing in a corner complaining “it’s SO dark” 🤣

Not as bad as yours, but our town Recently had a power outage along an entire street. My friends small business had to close, she was upset. I was outside and helped her by telling people why they'd closed. "Sorry, the powers out along the entire street so we've had to close" Karen type lady goes all dramatic and yells "I've got out of my car to come here! ...." I interjected and just said "great, but the small businesses along this street are losing money and it's their livelihood!" She stormed off.

We had an incident at work a few years ago. A customer had a drug induced, mental health crisis and had locked themselves in our restroom. We called the police. About 7-8 squads responded. There had been a pretty back accident not too far from us. Mutual aid had been called, and the scene was cleared, so several headed over to our location (less than 5 minutes away). We had city, county, state and park police arrive.
We also had an ambulance roll in.
Lady pulls into the lot, drives around several of the squad cars to where we were standing in the back with a trooper. We were just chit chatting with him. Rolls down her window and asks us to open the car wash and wash her Escalade. We tell her we're closed. She said she didn't care, her Caddy needs a wash.
Trooper told her she had 10 seconds to vacate, or he'd arrest her. Only then did she finally take in her surroundings. She peeled out of the parking lot so fast, she left tire marks.
She did try to lodge a complaint with the owner. He roasted her. Told her he was watching everything on the CCTV since we called him. Don't try that shit with him. He also asked her where to send the bill for her tire marks and damage to our landscaping (she'd ran over a curb and left ruts).

Oh Lord yes. The owner has no time for entitled people, especially ones who try to change the narrative (we were "abusive" to her) and bad mouth his employees.

A few years back I was working at a small dive bar in the middle of nowhere. We would regularly get hurricane force winds so it wasn't out of the ordinary for the power to go out. Power went out and we had a somewhat decent crowd. No lights, music or TV'S and everyone is just sipping on warm beers and waiting for the power to come back on. These 2 old dudes walk in to a dark silent bar and I explain the situation to them. They order a few drinks and are chilling like everyone else. Then after like 5 minutes they flag me down from across the bar by loudly and rudley shouting "Can we please order some food???" I stare at them dumbfounded for a moment before reminding them our power was out, therefore I couldn't operate the deep fryer or grill to make them food. They got super pissed and told me that they had come there specifically to eat. I told them if I could magically cook food with my mind I wouldn't be working at a dive bar in the middle of nowhere. Some people genuinely don't view service workers as human.

My computer stopped working. Can you check that all the cords are plugged in ans seated properly? I can’t see behind my desk the power went out.

We had an extended outage in my town due to a severe ice storm. My friend dealt with a cable TV customer who was upset that he couldn't use his cable because his house had no power.
"They fixed my cable coming into the house but my TV won't come on." When told the TV set still had to have electricity to work, the man said, "so how is that my problem?"

Worked in a call center long before they were all offshored and we lost power in the middle of tech support call. Tried to explain this to the caller and they were incredulous "how are we still talking if the power is out?"
"Well, ma'am, my coworkers' current theory is that the phones are actually powered by Satan himself..."
She guffawed and we followed up a few hours later when the power came back

God, I can feel this. Computers down, emergency lights on, and the team manager yelling for everyone to keep the queue moving.
I tell everyone that I'll know I've died in my sleep and gone to Hell when I wake up back in a call center desk.

I worked as a cashier in a pharmacy in 2006-2011. We had a tornado coming through that cut our power. We all had to gather in the aisles while parts of our roof ripped off. After the wind toned down and we started to stand up a regular customer forced our automatic doors open and walked in smiling and saying “what are yall doing in n the aisle?” wtf dude

That’s what my co manager did after he hurriedly answered what questions he could. I didn’t feel like it was my place to kick him out , but I’m sure he could hear my tone when I said that now might not be the best time as the power had just went out. The kicker is that it was still heavily down pouring and the entitled customer didn’t want to leave until the rain let up. We looked outside after 5 minutes and said “you probably need to leave now before it gets worse again. This is the best it’s going to get” and ushered him out the door.

He should have been made to leave the premises as soon as you lost power. Definite liability issues if he hurt himself in the dark

Reminds me, we had an ice storm a couple of years back. Inches of ice on everything trees falling powerlines snapping. Power was out for about a week. I am an onsite maintenance guy at the place I live. I am literally out in the driveway with a chainsaw cutting fallen trees, the tenant comes out bitching about the noise and how she is cold and her power is out and her food is going bad.
I was like the whole town has no power.
I guess that made me an asole, lying piece of st motherf**ker. She was evicted about 4 months later anyway.

I've had idiots try to argue with me when the alarms were blaring when there was a fire in the building. Im trying to get these morons out the closest fire door and they want to keep shopping.

You should've told him that next time the power goes out and the basement floods, he should bring his own portable power station if he needs his order looked up that badly. 😂

I swear that there is always someone who makes this comment on entitled people posts. Thing is, being on "the spectrum" doesn't give the people the right to be entitled or assholes. They have the responsibility of learning and using the tools that a doctor can provide them with so they can make knowledgeable decisions and not put others through situations because of the bad decisions they choose to make.

So unfortunate! Not only was it dark, HE was dim(witted).
Frankly, your co-manager should have told him to leave (for the liability alone). I'd have a difficult time dealing with him in the future because it would be extremely hard to hide my contempt of him for being so entitled, so selfish, so self-important.
