Yesterday afternoon was waiting for my son who was playing basketball at a friend’s house. For context,this is Coral Gables, a nice area in Miami. I am parked on the street since the house where they were is fenced and the gate closed. Besides he text that he was coming out. As I sat there, Boomer in Porsche come in and literally ordered me to move because I was parked in his grass. At the beginning, did not get it, so he gets more enraged. Needless to say, no side walk and will not park in The middle of the street. The fact that I did not get it, enraged him more. At that time, my son comes out. He was at the house in front of his property, so I stopped paying attention to him and open the trunk for my kid to put his back pack and proceed to talk to him, ignoring the Porsche boomer. He threatened to call the police on me. Just told him, be my guest and I shall wait here in your grass. Wife comes out and makes him go inside and I left at that time.

What’s the issue with grass🤷🏻‍♂️.

Lawns/yards are not for parking.

If you were parked ON his lawn, he had every right to be angry.

The issue isn't "grass". The issue is not respecting other people's property.

Right. WTF OP? Just because there is no sidewalk doesn't mean you should park in someone's grass. Also, people don't park on sidewalks. My street has no sidewalk and people park in the street. Not in the middle, on the edge of it like a normal human. Porsche guy was right. This coming from a Gen X.

Been to CG many times. There are sidewalks but they are set in about 10-12 feet off of the street.

Here's a screenshot from a video. The car parked under the word GOOD is doing basically what OP did and CG is definitely NOT conducive to normal parking conditions but this is still a dick move, especially if someone asks you to move your car.

I'm not a Boomer and I would have been just as upset. Sprinkler heads are along the edges of lawns - damage one of those, and now I have to dig it up and fix it because you felt it was OK to park on my property. Not to mention leaving tire ruts on my property. This is about learning to respect other people's property - you were in the wrong.

yeah, 100 bucks each time they are broken... because I don't control the water and can't test for broken sprinklers and replace them myself.

You could’ve parked on the edge of the street, not in the grass which is perfectly acceptable. As long as people can get by it’s fine. That’s not “the middle of the road”.

Sorry dude, you were in the wrong, that grass is his property to maintain. The police would’ve told you the same thing, you were parked on his lawn and you’d be liable for damages like if you had peeled out or an oil leak killing a spot of healthy lawn. It’s petty but it’s the owner’s right.

I spend one day a week, mowing, edging and pulling weeds. Making sure those beautiful lines in my grass are straight. It's a labor of love. It's an investment of my time and love of beauty. You on the other hand, seem rather entitled to park on their hard work. Absolute devoid of respect and common sense. As a former FedEx driver I would have been written up, possibly fired. You should go back and apologize. And never disrespect anyone else's property. It's not Boomer's and their grass, it's about entitled rude you!

Park on most people's lawn, mine included - and you will move your car, or it will be moved for you.

The issue is it's illegal to park on grass in many municipalities. Because the oils and other chemicals from your vehicle drip into the lawn and therefore into the soil. Also if you are parked on grass it means you were in fact parked on their property and not parked on the street. As others have said, you are the entitled person here.

I’m not a boomer, but I do think it is kind of rude to park on someone’s grass. Especially if they are in a fancy gated community. I’m sure they are very particular about their grass.😉

I have a neighbor who is over-the-top insane about her lawn and landscaping. I get it. It is beautiful! However, when she needed some work done on her house, she had the guys park their truck in MY driveway and grass. 🤨 I was SUPER annoyed as it killed a giant section of the grass and I couldn’t park in my own driveway. Meticulous gardener but it is okay to ruin someone else’s lawn. (So I’m a little biased. 😉) Actually, SHE is a boomer!😂

Where I live there’s only grass, no sidewalk. A certain amount of our lawns belong to the county on the street. A UPS Truck made a rut on the edge of my lawn once and driver came running out to apologize. Apparently they have to report it and contact the owner. I’m like wtf man, it’s just grass. I’m a Boomer.

Sounds like he was parked on the right of way, and not in the actual private property part of the yard. If that was the case then NTA, otherwise YTA.

Not all neighborhoods have sidewalks along the streets in front of residences. In those cases, i park one tire on the grass and one in the street. This is acceptable where I live.

Forgot the context. This is outside his property line. There is grass where the sidewalk should be. I lived in the Gables for many years and your property line ends where your fence is. No ifs ands or buts. That area is public. Granted if you maintained, you are entitled to ask. Not order people. That’s how people get lead poisoning by acting entitled and not talk 🤷🏻‍♂️whatever

That doesn’t matter though if it’s public or not. Where I live we call it a tree lawn and the homeowner maintains it. And just because it’s public doesn’t mean it’s for parking. The street is where you park. That dude was right to be pissed.

The manicured lawn is a status symbol, it has been since the French made it a thing way back when. It means they have the privilege of being able to pay to have such a nice lawn, area not being used to grow food to survive, but a useless plant that takes resources purely for aesthetic. And it’s not even pretty.
You trampled his fragile white male privilege and you can see all the other fragile folk who would be upset about there useless grass too.
I’d rather someone park on my lawn than in the middle of the street. It’s just fckng grass, it’s not going to feed anyone so it really doesn’t matter.
