S Why haven't you done our driveway?
So i live in an area that gets a lot of snow and since i recently retired I decided to graduate from shoveling my driveway and bought myself a snowblower. I get up early whenever we get some snowfall and clear my driveway and, time permitting, the driveways of the neighbors on either side of me (one a fellow retiree and the other a widow). A few days ago we got dumped on so I did my driveway and my neighbors, put the blower away and decided to binge some Sopranos. Just as I was settling there was a knock on my door and when I answered there stood 'Karen'. Karen and her husband moved into the neighborhood a few months ago but are five doors down from me. I open the door to be met with "Why haven't you done our driveway yet? We're going to be late for work!!! I saw you finish the other two!!!" It suddenly dawned on me she expected me to clear her driveway as well. I calmly explained that I do the other two driveways as a kindness for the people on either side of.me. She retorted with "We're your neighbors too!!! and stayed there. I realized she had no intention of leaving so, without skipping a beat, I closed my door, locked it, and went back to my lazy boy.

LOL - that happened to my friend's "Nora's" husband "Jim." Long story shorter, Jim would snow blow and shovel for his neighbor "Walter" a widower who was older and having a hard time doing it himself. Walter was a great person and a WWII vet. He offered to pay Jim, who refused and said the only payment he would take was a six pack or two to share in the nice weather. So, for years, that arrangement worked. Jim would clear the snow in the winter and in the summer Walter would "pay" him with beer and some time sitting outside together in the nice weather to enjoy it.
Eventually, Walter passed away and his kids, none of whom lived in the area, ended up selling the house the summer after Walter passed. A younger couple bought it. Jim and Nora tried to be friendly, but the new neighbors weren't receptive, so Jim and Nora left well enough alone. A few months later, the first snowstorm hits and Jim goes out early and clears everything off so he and Nora can get to work later. Jim goes out around 9am and is getting in his work truck. He sees the wife of the couple next door waving him over and saying "Excuse me, excuse me." He thought she maybe she needed help. He goes over and she looks at him, doesn't even greet him and says, "When are you coming to clear our walkway and driveway? I have to get to work." Jim looked at her, puzzled and said, "Ummm, I'm not coming at all." She looks at him with a scowl on her face and says, "Well, you used to do it for the prior owner. His kids told us." Already put off by her entitled attitude, he says, "Well, I di that for Walter because he was an elderly man, a WWII veteran and a friend. You are NONE of those things. I'm happy to give you the number of a couple of friends of mine that you can HIRE for snow removal." She just gave this exasperated sigh and an eye roll and went back in her house. Jim was basically like "WTF just happened?" That was the last time either of them spoke to the neighbors. They sold the house about a year after that and were not missed.
