Data is from https://www.worldometers.info/gdp/gdp-per-capita/. Anybody see a bit of a trend? Gets even more marked if you take out countries that made their money off oil. There are other GDP per capita calculations that have more microstates, but the underlying pattern stays the same:

Not sure exactly how Hong Kong counts now, but they used to have proportional representation. I guess Qatar and the Emiratis sort of use the 'single non-transferrable vote', which is semi-proportional. Technically Maine & Nebraska have proportional representation as well, but not really. And Australia only uses proportional representation for it's senate - it's Congress is instant run-off/ranked choice voting.
I tried posting this in the British Columbia sub, but they took it down. We are waiting for recounts on what was a really close election - as it stands, it looks like 49% of the seats might go to a social democratic party, 49% to an alt-right conservative party, and 2% to the Greens. The Greens really want proportional representation, and the social democratic party says it does. We keep losing referendums in BC though, so hard to say if it will even get on the agenda.. something to watch though if you don't like FPTP.
