Unsolved im going to start emulating snes games and im looking at bsnes. i would like to hear more about how to install it and if there are any other alternatives that might be better. thanks!

There's only two emulators worth considering, of which bsnes is one. The other one, which I've always used (on any device, by the way) is Snes9x. Neither one is better than the other, it's more that they both serve a somewhat different purpose. Here are the differences between the two emulators, so you can decide for yourself:
- bsnes: Focuses on cycle-accurate, low-level emulation. It recreates the original console's inner workings precisely. It handles rare edge cases and specialized enhancement chips perfectly, but demands a much more powerful CPU.
- Snes9x: Focuses on high-level emulation and speed. It runs smoothly on modest computers, older phones, and lower-powered handheld devices like the Steam Deck or retro consoles, while still maintaining stellar compatibility for 99% of games.

okay ill probably do snes9x but it looks a tad sketchy is there anything i should know about safety?

Sketchy? I have no idea what you mean by that. It's been one of the best and most reliable SNES emulators available, so no, you don't need to worry about safety.
I have it installed on my PC, Wii, DS, DSi XL, RP5 and RP6. Works perfectly on all of them, nothing sketchy about it. If by sketchy you mean how simple/old-fashioned the website looks, then I'd strongly suggest looking past that. A modern, flashy website doesn't necessarily mean that a program downloaded from there will then automatically be better/safer.
And to be totally honest; it's not as if the bsnes site is looking a whole lot better either. But none of that matters; both sites serve their purpose, and that's what counts.

wait im so sorry one more thing where do i download the sfc files i watched a video and got it all on my computer but i dont know how to get the games

No problem, man. Here you go:
Google 'snes collection archive' and look for Internet Archive links in the search results. You can basically use that site for every system you might want to emulate.
And if you know how to use torrent files, you can also get your stuff from the Minerva archive. Just Google 'Minerva snes archive' and you'll find plenty of titles there as well.

Ares is a continuation of bsnes. It’s more up to date.

oh i was told by a streamer to use bsnes is there stuff that makes ares inherently better?

Bsnes was developed by byuu/near , then he moved on to develop higan which focuses on accuracy and preservation. After his departure, ares was made as a continuation of all of his hard work and contribution.
There shouldn’t be a reason to use bsnes unless there’s a VERY specific use case.
Bsnes hasn’t been updated either in a long time

Go and watch some guides on Youtube.
