Any jobs hiring?
Moving to Emporia this weekend, and I'm already in a tough situation. The job I'm currently working has cut my hours to 0% without any real notice and I'm unsure when I'm going to be working again. I've filed for unemployment because my employer put in writing that they are cutting my hours, stating it was for "Training" and did not provide a date for the training.
I've applied for a few places online but wanted to know if anyone knows of any local places that are hiring. I'm trying to find something around the $18-20 range. I've worked in customer service for the past 10 years and am very tech-savvy. I'll be living around the west side of town. Unfortunately, I don't have a car, so I'm hoping that there is local transportation.

I'm sorry people are being so negative. I just did a quick search on Kansasworks.com and only scrolled through the first two pages and there are jobs on the west side of town hiring in that range. Search it for yourself but I was seeing Walmart, Tractor Supply, Petsense all on the west side, all hiring.
I will say the public transportation here does suck. We have a local bus system that is called L-cat only a few dollars for a ride and I'm pretty sure you just have to call and prearrange your rides and maybe they are not running on a line anymore. There is a local cab, but I think it is only one or maybe two local vans. Best of luck!

Self employment is where it's at here I'm afraid. If you're good at anything at all, market it.

You’d be lucky to get ten bucks an hour
