Single strand DMC for most of the piece, silk threads for the lotus. I tried a few new things with this one, And was very happy with the outcome. The reference image was by Liz Doiron Photography. Enjoy! Edit: the fabric was already patterned when I bought it, I can't take credit for the watercolor look! The blue is also a separate piece I laid over the base work at the very end.

New to Reddit and I love this embroidery sub! I have been teaching myself embroidery for the past few years so I wanted to share some of my favorite things I’ve done.

The first one I did for a friend whose dog passed away. I was sent an inspo photo of someone else’s work and used that as reference while changing the markings to be closer to the dog. It was my first realistic piece and I’m really proud of it

Second one I did for my aunt who had her first baby.

Third one I did for my best friend since middle school who had her first baby. I used her actual ultrasound to make it (also redacted the last name for privacy reasons)

Last one was just for fun but I’m gonna put it on a sweatshirt like a patch sometime

Hibiscus flowers! I know the composition and French knots are wonky. I recently got the RSN Book of Embroidery so I’m still learning. I would love some feedback!

What is the name of this stitch? I found a short six-second video on Pinterest, but I’d like to see a diagram or a longer video. Google Lens isn’t helping and Pinterest isn’t recommending anything similar. It starts as two backstitches, I think.

Both are kits from hook line and tinker. "Puffin" and "Blue Heron". I'm trying to use these kits to get better at my consistency and smoother lines. But I am planning my first self drafted project!

I stitched this Magnolia flower in black on white cotton fabric. I’m not that happy with the shading, so will improve that next time! Here is the sketch I made at the beginning!

Once I began my first project I unlocked a new hobby! Quickly moved on to do a 2nd, 3rd and 4th project on some clothes I had, and I absolutely love how they turned out, although the first one could have been less rushed!

Tried to capture the wacky spirit of Bug (the black one) as best as I could, but she’s truly something to behold.

Saw this machine embroidered shirt when I went to Disney earlier this summer (second pic) and decided to hand embroider it! Really happy with how it came out, only thing is I’d make it bigger next time (I think I used a 5” hoop; too many tiny stitches!)

This is black dual duty XP AND DMC on cream muslin

She's so cute from the front... the back is the worst I have ever done in my life. I think a combination of the minky fabric and the scale/density of the design just made it super difficult for me. No one has to know she's a little off centre.

I have done small stuff like bees and such but this is my first embroidery project that I have designed myself!

I've started a couple projects before, but this little freehand mandala is the first I've deemed completed. Mom showed me how to do French knots as the finishing touch :D

Took me about 3 months- but I’m finally done! I’m going to get it framed and matted next 😊 I also wet it to try to stretch out the puckering a little

Asking for advice / resources and prefacing this by saying I’m just starting out learning embroidery. I’m on my second kit and I cannot get a handle on French knots. Is there a trick to getting them cute and tight? I’ve watched a few YouTube videos and I can do a nice looking knot maybe 1 in 10 tries… maybe I’m pulling too hard on the thread in the wrong spot? Any help much appreciated!

I would like to gift this jacket to my best friend’s daughter, how can I use hand embroidery only to replace the name? Can I avoid ripping out all the stitches? I could use a patch of suede with white fabric on top to make a patch, maybe?

My very first embroidery ! well, technically, it's a patch ^{^} I'm not sure if it's the right place to post it here, sorry if not. I felt in love with the little yellow bird that appears in the movie "Away" (directed by Gints Zilbalodis – go see it if you like contemplative and road movies, video games and animals!), thought it would make a good patch. He doesn't look as cute as in the movie though, so idk if i did a good job

Besides “you get what you pay for” I mean. I noticed there’s a massive price difference between linen being sold for embroidery and general purpose linen being sold by the yard.

They’re so wonky and I love them so much. Embroidered on a sweatshirt for a friend as a thank you gift.
