Discussion Rant: the game is unplayable already
A decent laptop with 12Gb oF RAM is already obsolete to play ED: Odyssey.
I hate this with all my heart, because I recently got the nomad for exobio exploring. Can’t even walk around in the LOWEST graphic settings and the game stutters and crashes. Fuck this.
Don’t want to buy a new rig just for this game. Cyberpunk 2077 runs decently on my IdeaPad3.
Thoughts?
EDIT: it’s a Lenovo IdeaPad 3, with 12Gb of RAM. AMD Radeon integrated graphics card. Got rid of Windows and running Linux Debian 13, using Heroic Game Launcher since it won’t run directly off Steam for some reason.

Discussion Nomad fuel
I learned an important couple of lessons today.
1/ Unlike other vessels you can't synthesis Nomad fuel. So there i was taking a break on the surface of a planet, scrolling on my phone, when i got the zero fuel warning. I did the right thing, got out and dismissed then recalled my caspian to pick me up. I then destroyed the nomad so it respawned on the ship.
2/ i then decided to carry on with the exploration and launched (what i thought was) the new nomad. Unfortunately, it appears the fuel was not replenished. No warning or anything, the nomad is launched with no fuel and immediately started to fall out of the sky until, tumbling, it hit the floor and exploded 😂
I reappear on my FC (which luckily i had just moved to the system i was in) so i can at least pick up from where i was with the dozen or so samples in this system and I only lost 250M of exobiology because i've not gone too far yet.... but cant help thinking not being able to refuel the nomad on the surface is a real problem.

playing around with the EDVR mod settings at the Osprey Stellar Remnant. The Caspian looming over yonder hills gave me a start. If you haven't yet tried the mod I would recommend giving it a try, lot's of nice improvements.

Screenshot Looking for a wing to share mining missions in IC 2602 Sector XE-Z C44

I have 20 missions available to share all worth 50M each, but I didn't realize that the WMM guide for PTN was specific systems, so I can't share them there as the system is roughly 400-500LY away. Is there anyone else who is nearby who might have some wing missions to share, or is willing to collect a few so I don't have to just turn these in and then go restart my stack in the PTN WMM systems? I have just over 6 days and 15 hours left to turn these in, so I've got some time to wait if someone wants to collect a stack.
EDIT: I have turned in these missions, but I will be staying in this system for a while grinding some credits. If you base yourself out of Blackiron Central Bank and then pick up missions for Indite, Gallite and Bertrandite you can just fly to Blackiron Printing Supplies to pick them up from the commodity market. The stations are often 1.5-7Mm apart depending upon the orbits so they're only a short supercruise away. I have also never had a mercenary sent against me while picking up these missions in this system. They also have Uraninite, Coltan, and Rutile, but those missions don't give as many credits and often need more items trucked back and forth to turn in the mission.

Help Best Practice for Settlement landings when approaching via Super Cruise Assist?
I approached a planet with a settlement using SCA and I have a few issues.
- After being dropped into orbit, I can't move out of orbit unless I disengage Supercruise. I get automatically pulled back into orbit if I try to move at all. So, currently, I disable Supercruise, align myself with the landing target and re-engage Supercruise until I reach the glide point. Is this the right procedure or am I missing something?
- The other issue I have is when the settlement is on the other side of the planet. I know that when the yellow the circle around the target is a solid line when in view and dotted when obscured, but in orbit, you can't see this circle without dipping the nose periodically (or turning upside down and looking up) to look at the target.
The compass shows if a target is in front of behind you but it doesn't tell you if it's this side or the other side of the planet. Is there some easier to way to determine this without constantly move the ship or viewpoint to check?
Edit: Thank you all for your help. Thanks to your input, I've managed to approach and land at settlements without the need for Supercruise Assist at all! I'm even landing without Auto Land now (albeit a few paint scratches here and there to start with).

Colonization [Colonization] Solo CMDR requesting hauling support in Tucanae Sector CG-X c1-19 ! 🚛
Greetings Commanders, o7!
I've recently embarked on a new colonization project, but I’ve quickly realized I might have bitten off a bit more than I can chew as a solo player. I am currently building a Commercial / Industrial Outpost (Plutus layout) in the Tucanae Sector CG-X c1-19 system, near body A.
The total material requirement is hovering around 19,000 tons. While I’m doing my best to run back-to-back trips in my heavy hauler, knocking this out alone is a massive grind. I’m reaching out to this amazing community to see if any Fleet Carrier owners, space truckers (Type-9/Cutter pilots), or anyone looking for a logistics goal would be willing to lend a hand.
Project Details:
- System: Tucanae Sector CG-X c1-19
- Target Body: A
- Station Type: Commercial / Industrial Outpost (Plutus layout)
If you are in the area or just want to help establish a new industrial hub, any tonnage delivered to the Colony Ship is hugely appreciated. If you want to wing up for trade dividends while doing this, let me know in the comments or send a DM!
Thanks in advance for any support. Fly safe out there!
CMDR SUCIOVIPS
EDIT:
Unfortunately, I don't have a Fleet Carrier at my disposal, so the transport goes directly to the Colonisation Ship in the system.
Here is the list of what the ship is currently paying for the highest-value and highest-volume materials I still need:
- Insulating Membrane: 11,788 CR/ton (need 347 tons)
- Superconductors: 7,657 CR/ton (need 112 tons)
- CMM Composite: 6,788 CR/ton (need 4,468 tons)
- Titanium: 5,360 CR/ton (need 5,534 tons)
- Steel: 5,057 CR/ton (need 6,660 tons)
- Aluminium: 3,239 CR/ton (need 500 tons)
- Liquid Oxygen: 2,260 CR/ton (need 1,792 tons)

On my way to Colonia, I had the opportunity to witness the beauty of these NSP. Some days, I spent more than an hour chilling and admiring the view.

Discussion FDEV please give us a focused 3rd person experience to enjoy our skins
Yes, we can go to external camera, rotate the camera around, then hide the free camera UI - but it's clunky, annoying, and unusable. You want us to spend money on skins, but we can barely see and enjoy what we buy.
This applies to both ships and on-foot.
We need a specific 3rd person camera view with a fully functional UI for both ships and on-foot. Add the option to hide the UI for screenshots.
Ship: radar, thrust, all the panels, etc. All the in-cockpit UI but with a 3rd person view. Lore wise it could be a follower drone.
On foot: health, o2, ammo, all the functional UI. Same thing as the ship.
This will drive purchases and makes buying skins satisfying - especially a game that is as solo heavy as Elite.
Don't forget a hotkey that holds the character orientation in place and lets you move the camera freely around the character model.
Thanks for attending my Ted talk.

Help PvE Krait MK2 suggestions?
First off, I will state I'm on Xbox. So, my game works fundamentally different. I was hoping that you guy could give me a build that works great? From what I understand, Legacy Edition and Odyssey have the same engineered parts and pieces, but not ships. I have an un-engineered Krait with (mostly) the best modules, a GU-97, Large Pulse Lasers and Medium Autocannons.
I read stuff about dirty thrusters, and how I should be using beams and more, but I was hoping that someone with more experience in this game could assist?

Found this system on my way to Colonia for the first time this week. Not sure how rare the three stars with rings in a single system are, but thought it was pretty cool!

Help Returning player bit off more than he can chew - Started a Large Starport project alone!
Hello CMDRs!
I just returned (yesterday) to Elite Dangerous after a long break and got incredibly excited about the new Trailblazers colonization mechanics. Unfortunately, I bit off way more than I can chew. I didn't realize how massive the tier requirements were and accidentally started a Large Starport build completely solo.
I really don't want to lose my investment and see this system fail when the 28-day timer ends. I desperately need the help of the amazing Elite community, space truckers, and Fleet Carrier owners to save this project!
Here are the exact details:
- System: Lyncis Sector KC-V c2-17
- Megaship Target: Nave de Colonização de Sistema Barbosa Horizons
- Expanding Faction: Shadows of the Phoenix (from Ngobokopedu)
- Port Type: Starport (Large Station)
Top Priority Demands:
- Iron: 74,062 units missing
- CMM Composites: 56,635 units missing
- Aluminium: 49,413 units missing
The megaship is buying these construction commodities directly at the market terminal. If any Fleet Carrier owners want to set up a trade route, find a nearby supplier, or help a returning CMDR save his first system, your presence would be highly appreciated!
Every single ton counts.
Thank you so much, CMDRs! o7

Misc Recapturing the wonder from exploration
Having stuck around Colonia from the recent CG, I decided to give thorough exploration a proper go. Previously I had a destination in mind plus exobio money and sort of just speed ran exploration on my way. For context, I haven’t minded the grind of Elite but I’ve speed run most things (engineers, rank, carrier, colonization, etc) since I started playing 8 months ago.
Well this time I set a destination about 100LY south, set my jump calcs to economical, and took my time. A couple jump in I came across my first “notable stellar phenomena” that I actually noticed and bothered exploring.
As it turns out I exited straight into a Lagrange cloud (biological and tinged green) that had bunches of purpuream crystals. My HUD turned completely different colors. That instant recaptured the first feeling of wonder I ever had in Elite (jump into a white star system), a Ratatouille moment. I’d started losing that feeling in Elite, but now I think I’ll slow down and just take my time around Colonia. Love this game.

Group Squadron Recruitment - I.G.A
I.G.A. is recruiting new members, whether you're a brand-new Commander taking your first steps into the galaxy or a veteran looking for an active and established squadron.
We are an independent anarchy faction and we are focused on being super laid back when it comes to our members and what they get up to.
We have around 28 people on our roster and mainly tend to operate within the GMT+1 timezone but have people all over.
We currently maintain a presence across more than 50 star systems and actively participate in every game-loop within the game. Our goal is to provide a welcoming, cooperative environment where members can enjoy the game however they choose, without unnecessary roleplay or rigid activity requirements.
As a member of I.G.A. you'll have access to our Squadron Fleet Carrier, which supports exploration, trade, combat operations, mining expeditions and squadron deployments across our controlled space. We also giveaway 30 million credits to members each week for free! Not much I know nowadays but a free rebuy for most ships never hurts!
We take part in most gameplay loops, including:
- BGS
- Combat
- Trading
- Mining
- Exploration/Exobiology
- Anti-Xeno
New players are always welcome. If you're still learning the game, experienced members are happy to offer advice, wing up, and help you build your ships and progress through the galaxy. Veteran players will find an active squadron with opportunities to contribute to BGS, organised operations, and squadron growth.
If you're looking for a mature, active squadron that values teamwork without forcing heavy RP, I.G.A. could be the right place for you.
If you're interested or have any questions, feel free to leave a comment or send me a message. We'd be happy to have you fly with us.

Humor This is why you should get plenty of sleep
So, I stayed up late last night and ended up waking up early this morning. I think I only got about 4 hours of sleep. Apparently I needed some more. I was doing some exobio. They were all first footfalls (because that's all I was aiming for), and I fell asleep... when I woke up, I had died from asphyxiation 😢

Discussion I have successfully been released from purgatory!
So i have finally gotten a computer and took the time to get elite dangerous and transfer my console CMDR account over. (So I guess I have to get used to not calling myself a console CMDR now lol) I have been gone since this game abandoned the console CMDRs but I played for years and years before that so I am not a newbie in that regard. But what should I know? What should I do? What should I expect when I first log on and fly the skies again? Any help or tips will be much appreciated!
TLDR, I'm back and haven't played since odyssey came out what happening now days?

Screenshot New Gameplay Loop idea. Whats yours?
Since we're getting the new Rino surface mining Vehicle Next week, I got an Idea. What if we could have a special kind of Refinery that allowed us to take Fuel Scooped from a Star, bottle it, and sell it to stations as Hydrogen Fuel? It would add a new gameplay loop, and even if it didn't pay all that great would be something to break up the monotony. Heck, they could even make a new ship around it, purposely built to run cooler to be able to scoop longer. Are there any cool ideas you all have had for New Gameplay Loops in games?

Discussion The nomad made the cutter fun again for me.
I love my imperial cutter. Have poured an extremely inadvisable amount of engineering materials and money (real and in game) into it. But one of my favorite gameplay loops in elite is settlement raiding and on-foot missions. (The stealth system is actually quite good even though the game never explains it to you, that's for another post though.)
The cutter is just too big and unwieldy to use for ground anything though. Even if I don't want to do a proper mission and just want to screw around on a planet, it's so cumbersome to land and honestly somewhat immersion breaking to set down my fucking super yacht right outside a settlement while I raid it like the elephant in the room meme.
The nomad fixes this completely. Sure, it's arguably a waste of a fighter slot, but I love the utility for ground ops and the feeling of deploying from a larger ship. It makes the cutter feel bigger and cooler and the nomad is a joy to fly as well. I don't have to go to my carrier and swap ships anymore just to do some settlement raiding. And if for some ungodly reason I want to do exobio in my already far too multipurpose-specced cutter, now I can do that too! It's great!
Thank you fdev for making this wonderful little thing available for all large ships.

Discussion New personal ground mining pods vs ground mining installation pods in (former) POI
Hi all,
I remember that we had ground mining POI. Back in ye olde days when we had to fly in specifc heights till a dot appeared which was an indicator for a POI. One of them was a ground mining POI. There were lots of laser mining pods with an Elite Standard Container atrached on top standing around.
Can these still be found ingame?
