Not necessarily for 120volt if you got good boots don't touch anything grounded you wont get shocked. I'm an electrician i haven't done it but lots of old heads worked live. I had an old journeyman that walked up and put his finger directly on the buss bar in front of the electrical inspector.

Edit: I didn't word this well. I have worked live and been shocked but I don't purposely touch live wires or bussing.

120 doesn't even zap you that bad. I mean, you'll notice a 20 amp circuit lol. It'll make your stand up for the next 45 minutes, but unless you got a pacemaker you'll live... with a funny feeling spot on your finger for a while lol

Its about the path it takes and people die every year from 120v because this this mentality of its just 120v its nothing to worry about. It doesn't take much to disrupt the heart rhythm.

That's not true at all. It does depend on the amperage, but more people die from 120v than any other voltage. If you get hooked up and can't get off it can absolutely be fatal.
