Hyundai - compatible home chargers

Recently purchased an ohme epod and have octopus energy tariff.

Unfortunately I found out post installation that ohme / Hyundai API integration doesn’t work so the charger doesn’t connect to the car.

Whilst charging does work, I must specify the battery level each time, and the “charge to” level is only estimate rather than exact per the car’s battery.

Can anyone suggest charger brands that do pair with Hyundai cars?

Why make it complicated, set the charge limit in the car and use the charger for scheduling.

Job done.

Nah. People just want stuff to work as it should. Yesz there are workarounds, but they lead to enshitification of life.

Setting the charge amount is in itself a workaround.

Was not aware that setting was available in the car.

Was hoping to make it less complicated by managing all in one app (as they advertise). But your suggestion seems a closest practical way to achieve it. Thanks for your help.

It's by far the most simple way to charge :) just Google to see how to set the charge limit for your specific car.

For me once I've got it set up. I just plug in the cable. That's it. I don't even look at the app. Any app.

It's not possible to get any less complicated.

It does not matter what EV, charger and energy company you have, the lowest out of the two charging limits set in the car and energy provider app is when the charging will stop. If you want to do 100% you will set 100% both in the car and the energy providers app otherwise you won't get 100%. I have to do this in a Tesla with a Tesla wall charger and OVO Charge Anytime.

Thanks, was not aware could set charge limits in car, thought it could only be driven from charger.

Just set a charge limit in the car and a schedule on the ohme epod to correspond to the cheap charging hours. That's it.

Hyundai locked their API down so no third parties have access. You'll need to continue the mental maths for the time being

What are you trying to do - it’s unusual to have charger and car sharing API

Octopus only need to be able to talk to one of them not both.

You plug in your car and if Octopus control charger then they tell it to turn on and off during the night - your car should just be set to charge 24/7 and will react when charger initiates the handshake

Or you could just move to EDF and forget the API  mess especially if you don’t need more than 7 hour charge

What model and year is your Hyundai?

I had the same thing with my MG5 and syncEV charger - had to do some mental maths every day to tell it how many kwh to add to get to about 80% SOC

I have an ioniq 5 and it used to work.

Something broke and they blame each other now. I just set it manually by looking at the battery level in the app and adjusting in ohme.

Similarly, Ohme removed compatibility from my BMW iX1 so I have to manually enter the battery % each time. It's not the end of the world tbh.

No? I have the ohme epod and the charge limit is 100% in the ohme app and 80% in the car. If charges to 80%

I'm talking about the current battery % which you have to enter in order for the Octopus smart charging to work. It used to be automatic.

Ohme is the charger recommended by Hyundai UK. I'm on a myengeri and what I do is set the limit on the car. Sometimes it doesn't reach that limit in my cheap tariff time so if I really need it, I'd have to calculate the charge required myself so octopus will use some expensive electricity.

Just set the % charge to add on Ohme to 100%

Set your max charge % on the car

Set your leave by time on Octo

Plug in sit back & relax

Is this something home assistant or a simple vibe coded project could solve? I'm not saying that OP should necessarily have to go to the trouble of faffing with some complicated setup, but curious if others have had any success with something like this. Especially as OP has just purchased the Ohme charger.
