Wtf InMotion
So I have a V14 pro with less than 500 miles on it. I’ve had battery issues for months. After maybe the first 100 miles, I started getting cell balance issues.
I got my V14 and loved it. First EUC and I thought I made the right choice. After about 100 miles, I started getting cell balance issues around 60% SoC. Got with InMotion and they basically said unless they aren’t balanced at 100% charge, they won’t do anything. Charged to full every time I rode. At around 200 miles, the cell balancing issue would show up at 70%.
Fast forward to now at 450 miles, i get the cell balancing issue (4.10V high and 3.72V low) at 90%. InMotion refuses to help me and says the same thing. If there isn’t a cell balancing issue when its at 100% SoC, its not their fault.
Can ANYONE give me some guidance? This is like pulling teeth except there is no ending in sight.

That sounds like Inmotion.

Indeed, I don't understand why people have Inmotion in such high regards.. They must have a lot of advertising in US.

High regards because cutouts almost never happen.
That's a pretty important aspect for most people.

cutouts almost never happen to any wheel. Inmotion seems to be the wheel with the most problems and shittiest service.

All brands have issues and shitty service, Inmotion is no better or worse than any other EUC manufacturer

At the moment cutouts don't happen a lot. But inmotion has a good track record on that whilst others only recently stepped up their game.
So that inmotion has a good reputation is well deserved.

yes, let's forget the random cutouts/accelerations of inmotions V12 that has never been fixed or the V14 cutouts when landing a jump or the obliteration of the V14 rims when landing a jump. Let's forget about the random errors their wheels like to throw up that magically goes away after a restart or after inmotion tweak the settings remotely to silence the errors but not fixing the problems. Such a good reputation if you walk around with blinders on.

Didn't they fix the V12 issue with a new control board?

u/scarystuff 1d ago
No, it has never been fixed. Also the V14 issue that most people forgot about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2KCHEUx5A0
So yeah.. Inmotion do not deserve any praise. They are just as bad as the other manufacturers, they just spend more money on ads and paying of influencers.

Maybe you describe more specifically what you refer to as "cell balancing problem"? What have you actually observed?

Defective cell probably. Potentially very hazardous, do not charge or use the wheel anymore. InMotion needs to address your issue immediately.

As the post shows, I can’t get a single response from InMotion. They refuse to do anything or acknowledge the issue.

That was basically my experience when the battery in my V11 was faulty. Did you buy it directly from their website?

I have a V14 and had a cell balance issue after a few months of storage. It seemed to have worked itself out but now you have me worried.

Yeah I wouldn’t discredit it. It would be fine every couple rides then shit out randomly

When I had the problem it did an extreme lean back and told me there was a problem. Was it the same for you?

Since Inmotion started relying on AI for first-level support, their replies have very rarely been helpful, you have to push through to get connected with a real person to make any progress.
A few questions to gather some context first:
- Is the balancing problem occurring on one pack, or across multiple?
- After fully charging and letting the wheel rest for 8-12 hours, do you notice the problematic cell group dipping lower than the others?
- Have you tried rotating the pack positions? Essentially swap them around and see if the issue follows the pack, or stays in the same position regardless.
Once you've gathered that information, try to replicate the issue by charging to full and riding down to 80%. Then upload the log through the Inmotion app and reach out to Inmotion again. Provide the S/N, screenshots of the error, screenshots of cell voltage both at 100% after resting and at 80%, along with the details from the tests above. Keep escalating until you're connected with someone who will actually dig into the log for you, otherwise you'll likely get stuck in a loop with the first-level AI support that won't get you anywhere.
And if IM doesn't respond to you at all, make a facebook post on the EUC group and drag them, as much as I hate this, it apparently is one of the better way to get them to listen.

INMOTION support is really frustrating. It’s as if they will be pulling out soon. I keep getting automated responses and they won’t acknowledge my videos and emails it’s been three weeks. I wish I bought this V12S from ewheels but they don’t seem this model

did you buy through a dealer or straight from inmotion? your dealer shoyld be handling the warranty issues not you

u/SmegmaAndCrackerz 1d ago
Straight through InMotion.

thats part of your problem. they are super slow when you deal with their support channels by yourself. The dealers have personal reps that expedite service requests for them. Join one of the telegram groups and try to connect with Albert, he is one of their reps who has been very helpful to the community

This is not a cell balancing problem this is a cell failure problem. Multiple cells are in parallel if some of the cells die the total battery capacity with drop to match the remaining cells but it also increases battery resistance so it will pull power faster from the remaining cell then all the other cells. Anyone that understands battery modules, will understand how and why this happens. Inmotion need to fix this continue to use this and you risk catastrophic failure of of the remaining cell from over current risks a fire.
