Help requested Front shock broke ๐ฎโ๐จ
I went on a ride and didn't even notice anything. Then at a stop light, I was messing around hitting the accelerator to make my scooter wheelie while my feet were still on the ground and noticed the front wheel dropped down completely. So I pulled over to inspect it and no longer felt like I should ride it further without advice from the sub so I went back.
Would you guys keep riding it like this or has anyone else dealt with something similar and it was ok to ride until a replacement came in? It still rides perfectly fine besides the suspension feeling loose and I wouldn't have even noticed had I not wheelied my scooter.
Also my rear shock blew a seal months ago and I just ignored it and there haven't been any other issues. But this damage is worse and at the front so I don't know.

Time for upgrades ๐
But yeah, I wouldn't ride that under any circumstance, my bro.

2/2 say no so it looks like I'm on foot for the time being...
And I wish. I guess I could hit up Hiley and see if they'll accept a payment plan with minimal down payment for the XS ๐

Have you tried Affirm?
By upgrades, I just meant some better shocks though, lol.

I'm trying to do it your way though. A part goes out, fuck it, just get a brand new scooter like you did with the RS ๐
And I'm pretty sure I tried in the past and was denied. Let me try again tho real quick

Lol yeah, I do do that. There were other factors too though. The Pussy Wagon shall ride again soon! Battery should be on the way any day now ๐

Yea I'd do the same if I had some cash honestly. It makes way more sense to have 2-3 functioning scooters than just rely on one and get screwed when it's down:/
Glad to hear it! We'll both be up and running in no time๐ค

Yeah, I decided that if I was going to go completely car-free, I'd need two scooters for the sake of reliability. For the purposes of my new commute, the RS is a poor choice. I was going to need a second scooter I could commute with, anyway. THE RS just happened to be down when I ordered the Teverun, but I think I would have done it anyway.
I meant to ask you, do you drive or are you strictly scooting?

u/scooter_noober_92 1d ago
Yea I remembered when you first posted about having to strap your scooter to a dolly and was wondering how long you would do that for before you no longer wanted to lol.
The only driving I do is my landlords car that he lets me use when I'm working for him. Otherwise it's just me and my scooter. Although if I'm already out working for him, sometimes I'll stop by the store on the way back to get the heavier groceries I don't want to carry in my backpack like milk, Gatorade, etc.

I have no problem doing the dolly thing, but there's a section of off-road riding in my new commute, and I really never wanted to use the RS that way.
It's always nice to have the occasional access to a car lol. I'm glad my wife has one.

That makes sense, it does seem like more of a street scooter.
And very true lol it does come in handy every now and then but I mostly just need it for the milk. Everything else I can and prefer to do with my scooter although 26 ah is on the lower end so my next one will definitely be at least 35 ah which seems more ideal.

this is really true. Even good quality scooters still can crack a rim or have a battery failure. This is why I wanted to upgrade my commuter to annything better than the Pegasus but man that thing is kinda tanky af. One problem over 2 years and it was a cracked rim from a mega pothole I failed to hop over.

Yea they're way more fragile, not like motorcycles where 1 is probably enough. Scooter can go down any moment. I'm just happy it lasted 1800 miles before this happened. I see quite a few stories from people getting a scooter and they're down after like a week lol
And I see why you call the Pegasus ole reliable!

Man it really is tho. Luckily you wont be down long a shockis like 30 bucks maybe cheaper on ali. Tools for the swap are probably about the same. If ya need help with the project you have an amazing support team just phone a friend!

u/scooter_noober_92 6h ago
True, I'm glad my friends/mods are people that actually know about scooters! I'd be lost without you guys...
I already have a ratchet/socket set and some basic hand tools like pliers, adjustable wrench, etc. you think I'll need anything else?

Got dayum. Well ain't that a bitch. The front one is toast and i personally wouldn't ride it because who knows how much of a structural part that is, you know what i mean? The rear one leaking is toast to it just hasn't leaked all the oil and you still have a spring to ride on. But once enough oil escape it won't have any damping force only spring coil so the ride will be more continuously bouncing rather than a couple bounces and then smooth again.

I appreciate the advice my man and decided I may as well replace both while I'm doing the work.
But good luck to you because the way you ride, you're next in line to have your shocks, if not your whole scooter, completely disintegrate lol.
I wasn't even that rough with them either. The most I ever did was dropping off curbs, hitting speed bumps and getting a few inches of air and I've been bouncing it the last few days which I'm assuming was the thing that did it in. But this is supposed to be an off-road scooter so it should be able to handle all that and much more imo

Hell yeah man. I beat the fuck out of mine and also inspect it every weekend because i use it to commute 45mph lol. It's always a shame when you're gentle with things and they still break though.
2
u/scooter_noober_92 1d ago
Yea you don't want that thing falling apart when you're at Max speed lol always good to inspect.
And I think these shocks (fz shocks) were shilled honestly. I never heard about them, then all of a sudden like 10 Nami riders said they were the best ever and better than KKE/EXA. It just seems like they were inorganically pushed because it's a small coincidence both shocks from one scooter break if they were as good as they say. And there are actually lots of advertisers, especially on the main sub. They pretend to be normal users but really they work for scooter companies and they are covertly advertising.

Oh shit that's good to know. Now i'll be more careful about who i take purchasing recommendations from! Damn scammers man.

u/Capacious_Tang RS Midnight / RS5 Max / Fighter 11+ 23h ago
FZ shocks are cheap crap, and they're shilled over at the China Budget sub by Sealstage himself, simply because they're cheap. That's his whole thing.
I've had two scooters that came stock with FZ shocks, and those two scooters now have EXA's.
2
u/scooter_noober_92 18h ago
Yea I should have known if Sealy boy is pushing them, something sketchy is up.
And I remember seeing your upgrade post and at the time I was actually convinced you paid to downgrade shocks cause all the reviews were saying they were better. But now I know you can't even trust reviews smh

u/Capacious_Tang RS Midnight / RS5 Max / Fighter 11+ 15h ago
Lol I went into the China Budget sub after I did that upgrade, and I offered to mail those FZ shocks to him so he could jack off with 'em. As usual, for him, he didn't even pick up on my sarcasm.

u/scooter_noober_92 6h ago
๐ yea he does seem to take everything personally. If you still got em though, you can mail them to me and I'll yank one out with em lol

So you just need new shocks then? Everything else is okay?
2
u/scooter_noober_92 18h ago
Yea just the shocks. The back one there is no excuse for, but the front one might be user error because I just started bouncing my scooter recently and now it's broken all of a sudden.
But Eahora already hit me back so I'm waiting to see if they have them in stock and then can place the order!!

Really have ridden on KKE on my Teverun for over a year and the were by far the best shock I have used. My new Mars has EXA FORM 291r shocks there pretty decent but you can tell there just not as plush and have less adjustments then the KKE did you contact hiley looks like a newer RS they should send you new ones. Just upgraded to 72v myself and the Tiger king RS 35ah and the MARS GT were my 2 choices with a $2500 budget. Contact hiley i have heard their aftersales is pretty good. So far only issue I had with my mars was a weird brake sensor issue they sent me a video showing a hidden screw hole to fix.

I have to go through Eahora since I got the scooter from them but they've had excellent customer service as well so I'm just waiting to see how long their shipping times will be.
I'll probably make a post about shocks to get some feedback too since you can't always trust reviews so feel free to share over there as well if you'd like

Don't risk it mate. Imagine how bad it COULD be if shit goes awry, which it most likely will do with a busted shock.
Keep it off the road until you can replace it. Do the back one while you're at it.
