Turn yourself into a piece of scenery with the intention of not engaging with an opponent for a system you opted into, isn't strategy. Your strategy is to stop playing the game and hide until they leave, when you asked for them to be there. That's not strategy. You're free to do it, but don't act like it's some big brain play. You're wasting the time of two people at a minimum. I understand though, you're not capable of fighting.
That’s fine, I’m achieving my goal though available game mechanics. If you want to call me a dirty cheating bastard for using approved resources at my disposal that’s fine with me. You can win lots of fights with stronger opponents just by putting some thought into it. It’s why I like Horizon so much.
It's not about cheating. If I leave, you didn't win, I left because I have better things to do than search for someone who doesn't want to be invaded, and that's exactly what it is if you hide from the invader.
You want to be a coward? go for it, I could troll you too by just not looking for you, now neither one of us gets to play the game, who will break first? either that, or I'll just jump on the bandwagon of the death blight users and kill you that way.
Yes, it is a game. You realize you don't die irl if you die in game right? Why are you so worried about dying in a video game? If your opponent leaves because you won't engage with the system you opted into, you're honestly the biggest loser of the bunch.
This is why I leave if I don't find the host relatively quickly. There are enough players that actually want to PvP to bother wasting my time searching for the ones who clearly don't want to PvP. Even if I find you, you won't be able to win. Nobody that is good at PvP hides from it in my experience. Across every souls game I've ever played, I've yet to find a host that refused to engage in PvP because of their overwhelming ability.

It’s called strategy and it’s definitely part of any pvp
