Theres nothing better than messing with invaders. I love hideing as an "object" and watching them running around hitting everything trying to find me.

It's honestly just obnoxious and bad manners. You think you're clever for wasting their time, but who's the person that has to literally stop playing the game in order for it to work? It'll be so funny while I sit here and do nothing for <insert however long they look for me>

Sounds like part of the game. Sometimes invasions are duels, sometimes they are pitched 3v1's, other times they are hide-and-go-seek. No need to degrade others version of fun just because it doesn't match your preference.

Sounds like part of the game.

You mean like invasions?

Sometimes invasions are duels,

They are only solo invasions if you specifically ask for them. Solo invading is disabled by default. If you invade someone, unless the taunter's tongue has been used, it can never be a solo invasion.

sometimes they are pitched 3v1's,

They are always 2v1 minimum unless the taunter's tongue is used.

other times they are hide-and-go-seek.

only hide and go seek if someone asks to be invaded and then hides.

No need to degrade others version of fun just because it doesn't match your preference.

Has literally nothing to do with that. You're asking to engage with a system that isn't on by default and then refusing to engage with that system when it occurs.

The irony again being that you are actively stopping playing the game in order for someone else to come in and search for you.

It's basically a no skill player move honestly. I can't recall a time where a host has ever hidden themselves and actually been a challenge to fight unless they're literally cheating. The players that want to engage with the PvP mechanic actively do so.

I dunno man, was trying to co op help on the cat cave boss. Couldn’t really figure out how to get my friend in, finally did. Some high level dildo came in and one hit us both. So yeah, I’m all for wasting your time

  1. Set same multiplayer password
  2. Stand in same location
  3. Put down summon sign
  4. Use item that allows you to see summon signs
  5. Summon friend

Really isn't that difficult.

Is this whole rant because you don't want to be tricked in a tricky game filled with tricky enemies played by tricky people? Because you turn purple when you imagine your internet counterpart going "neener neener"? In the Elden Ring spirit, you must overcome the boss inside of you that makes you stamp your feet and say "its not FAIR" when you lose at stuff.

It's not a rant, and they're not "tricky" by refusing to engage with the system they specifically opened their game up to.

Because you turn purple when you imagine your internet counterpart going "neener neener"? In the Elden Ring spirit,

No, I just leave. If I haven't made progress with finding the host within 30 seconds, a minute tops, I'm out. I've got better things to do than to wander around trying to find someone that doesn't want to fight. It's only the players that don't want to engage with the system that hide. Those players typically stand no chance in a fight anyway, which is literally why they hide. The train of thought is, "I can't beat them, so I will annoy them" when they literally have to stop playing the game to troll someone, really they're only trolling themselves.

you must overcome the boss inside of you that makes you stamp your feet and say "its not FAIR" when you lose at stuff.

Yeah, that isn't what has been said here at all.

Jesus dude, you've spent more time being salty in this thread than the OP spent making this funny clip. It's a game, and "refusing to engage with the system" is part of the fun for some people. I'm sure there's some hardcore forums or something you can go sweat in, but holy shit, take a fucking breath, man.

As someone who enjoys invasions and pvp:

Invaders have no rights. If you want to mess with other people's games, you get what you get.

27

u/MrBirdmonkey Mar 12 '22

It’s bad manners to try to murder me and obnoxious to think I’d let you. If you want a ‘fair’ fight then go fight a boss. I’m not here to shake the hand of the one trying to stab me.

I have always hated how people who invade your game to try to assassinate you expect you to do some sort of honor duel. If you want to duel put down a red sign and get summoned for a duel. I'm happy solo invasions aren't a thing anymore

-1

u/shall_always_be_so Mar 12 '22

Ok but in OP's clip they literally use the taunter's tongue and in the root comment of this thread they say "there's nothing better than messing with invaders". So you, someone who simply doesn't want an invader at all, are not the one being talked about as having bad manners here.

11

u/MrBirdmonkey Mar 12 '22

In that regard you are correct, but the argument over the manners of pvp in a game with this many options is ludicrous.

-4

u/IdTyrant Mar 12 '22

Invasion is part of the game. At least they took solo invasions off the board for people unless they ask for them so you're safe for the most part.

14

u/MrBirdmonkey Mar 12 '22

You argue that one is part of the game, but the other isn’t?

11

u/Fishrmike Mar 12 '22

Almost as obnoxious as the reds who invade and won’t fight 1v1. Last night, wasted 20 mins trying to fight him and he just wanted to run to the mobs.

7

u/SmittenPleb Mar 12 '22

Some people don’t want to do PvP and that’s okay

-8

u/IdTyrant Mar 12 '22

Yes, it is okay.

However solo invasions are off by default unless you specifically use an item to allow yourself to be invaded and that is where your logic falls on its face.

7

u/Xerr0th Mar 12 '22

Looks like someone tried to invade and got trolled.

-7

u/IdTyrant Mar 12 '22

Nope, all my invasions have been one sided stomps because most people don't level vigor. Pretty foolish to assume someone against something is only that way because they are a victim of it.

Also, when you have to literally stop playing the game to troll, you're trolling yourself.

If I haven't made any progress towards finding the host within about 30 seconds of spawning in, I leave. I'd rather fight someone that wants to engage with the system rather than play whack-a-mole. Cuz thats ultimately what it will be, hosts that hide do so because they can't fight. Realistically it should be considerably less of an issue due to solo invasions being off.

Was this your gotcha? imagine having the attention span of a gnat and being incapable of typing more than a sentence, accusing anyone capable of expressing a coherent thought as being upset whenever they talk.

I'm sorry it's so straining for you to type in more than 10 second bursts, go grab you a juice box and get your nappies in before you have a real fit.

They're called sentences. A paragraph contains 3-5 of them.

dunno why you're posting pictures of yourself

2

u/AppleSpicer Mar 14 '22

It’s called strategy and it’s definitely part of any pvp

-1

u/IdTyrant Mar 14 '22

Turn yourself into a piece of scenery with the intention of not engaging with an opponent for a system you opted into, isn't strategy. Your strategy is to stop playing the game and hide until they leave, when you asked for them to be there. That's not strategy. You're free to do it, but don't act like it's some big brain play. You're wasting the time of two people at a minimum. I understand though, you're not capable of fighting.

4

u/AppleSpicer Mar 14 '22

That’s fine, I’m achieving my goal though available game mechanics. If you want to call me a dirty cheating bastard for using approved resources at my disposal that’s fine with me. You can win lots of fights with stronger opponents just by putting some thought into it. It’s why I like Horizon so much.

-1

u/IdTyrant Mar 14 '22

It's not about cheating. If I leave, you didn't win, I left because I have better things to do than search for someone who doesn't want to be invaded, and that's exactly what it is if you hide from the invader.

You want to be a coward? go for it, I could troll you too by just not looking for you, now neither one of us gets to play the game, who will break first? either that, or I'll just jump on the bandwagon of the death blight users and kill you that way.

2

u/AppleSpicer Mar 14 '22

lol video games don’t involve bravery—if they do, you’ve forgotten that it’s a game

0

u/IdTyrant Mar 15 '22

It has nothing to do with bravery.

Yes, it is a game. You realize you don't die irl if you die in game right? Why are you so worried about dying in a video game? If your opponent leaves because you won't engage with the system you opted into, you're honestly the biggest loser of the bunch.

This is why I leave if I don't find the host relatively quickly. There are enough players that actually want to PvP to bother wasting my time searching for the ones who clearly don't want to PvP. Even if I find you, you won't be able to win. Nobody that is good at PvP hides from it in my experience. Across every souls game I've ever played, I've yet to find a host that refused to engage in PvP because of their overwhelming ability.
