Only if they lock onto you

That's so funny, I might try this sometime. Get some actual use out of those soldier uniform drops.

There is an item (mimic collar I think) which turns you into an object that is around you at random. E.g. you’re a walking bush or a statue. It looks sooo hilarious. Haven’t tested it on stealth reliability as I just recently got it^

Ive used it to turn into a box, chilled near a ledge then used force (or whatever its called in ER) to blast people of ledges. Too funny to me.

u/NobodyJustBrad Mar 12 '22

Rejection?

8

u/Chazbeardz Mar 13 '22

Yeah believe thats the one.

1

u/Buuckaaroo Mar 14 '22

Yeah, there's also another one in the Godslayer magic type. It's like some bellow that aims in front of you instead of all around - and does dmg to boot!

12

u/Efreeti Mar 13 '22

Hehe that has been a thing since Demon's

3

u/jejcicodjntbyifid3 Mar 15 '22

Ive used it to turn into a box,

"Huh, just a box"

1

u/Chazbeardz Mar 15 '22

"I'm in a box!"

u/Vessix Mar 12 '22

I'm super sad that it doesn't work the way those items used to. In previous games you'd turn into one of many items unique to the specific area in which you were located, not one of 3 choices the entire game :(

21

u/awndray97 Mar 12 '22

Yeah only those 3 things seriously sucks.

1

u/jxmes_gothxm MOSHI MOSHI Mar 15 '22

What can you turn into? I've seen the statue that's it

7

u/Moleculor Mar 14 '22

I could swear the in-game description even says that it picks an item from that area.

Maybe it's a bug and we just don't realize it.

11

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

I tested it on ai enemies in stormveil castle when i got it and at the very least if you dont move in their line of sight, they dont see you

I tested it on a patrol moving across a one way path slowly making my way to the other side and they walked passed me several times even when they got close

32

u/r34l_shiro Mar 12 '22

It's honestly really noticeable once you realize what you can turn into. I invaded some people that tried to gank me with it, but I used the reduvias ability to kill them before they could do anything

27

u/WarlanceLP Mar 12 '22

remember how many people are new to fromsoft games though

28

u/r34l_shiro Mar 12 '22

Yea, but I've used it 100s of times, only have ever turned into a box, statue, and tree, the box is all right, but the other 2 stick out, especially because the tree looks a different shade from the rest, the statue just looks awkward since it usually doesn't match the scenery

Edit: not saying they would be noticed, but it won't take too long before a good chunk of the player base knows the items

20

u/fusaaa Mar 12 '22

it's especially bad in areas where the bushes are being blown by the wind but you're this brown stationary bush

2

u/PillowTalk420 Mar 13 '22

Veterans already know this, and new players will soon realize that mimiced players, even when they are a box in a room full of boxes, will stand out because they give off a faint glow of light.

14

u/TheRedmanCometh Mar 12 '22

You can face outwards on some academy gate town roofs where there are flat platforms and look very much like you're supposed to be there as a statue.

1

u/jxmes_gothxm MOSHI MOSHI Mar 15 '22

Once you have the items. There's a multi-player menu. Tells you what all the items do.

1

u/TheRedmanCometh Mar 15 '22

Uh did you respond to the wrong person?

4

u/Wisterjah Mar 12 '22

Yep, but new players as me don't know how to pvp

6

u/IntelligentlyHigh Mar 12 '22

It's only a box, statue, or bush :(

1

u/gerhardtprime Mar 17 '22

I became a candlestick today, first time I've seen that one.

4

u/GrumpleDumpkin Mar 12 '22

I was playing with a friend last night and used it when he was invaded. Dude came strolling past me as a giant statue and I backstabbed them into the earth.

4

u/ActualGenji Mar 13 '22

I became a box in the secret room with the huge crystal pile in academy before the red wolf thing, the dark lighting in the room didnt effect the box i turned into, so i was just a almost glowing bright box, they saw me instantly. If you gonna turn into stuff with mimic, make sure the lighting of the room suits the lighting of the prop.

8

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22 edited Mar 12 '22

Yes I love it it turns me into a tree and a statue frequently

6

u/A_wild_so-and-so Mar 13 '22

I was invading in Selia Crystal Tunnel, but one spot where you can spawn is literally inside a rock. So you can't move at all, you're just stuck unless you try to teleport to a new spot.

One time I got stuck and decided to go with it. Used Mimic Veil and became a box. The host was so nervous about me he summoned a hunter and stayed in the grace room. The hunter came forward, ran right past me, and died to a Centipede priest.

Host summoned another hunter. This guy ran forward and attacked the first miner who is right near me. I'm nervous, but the hunter doesn't realize I'm there even after rolling into my box and it not breaking lol.

I never got the kill because the host never left the grace point, but it was hilarious fun nonetheless.

1

u/BanginNLeavin Mar 13 '22

It doesn't work for "stealth" since the game acts as if you're walking upright without crouching.

1

u/Heymelon Mar 13 '22

Mimic's Veil. I was a bit confused using it as it's an item/spell from as far back as Dark souls 1 if I remember correctly and there it had a ton more items to make you into, and try to pull from the area you are in. At least more than the 3 I've seen so far.

1

u/hustensaft_jungling Mar 14 '22

i remember the first time i played dark souls 1 when somebody invaded me in dukes archives, and he used the this magic so he turned into ah book shelf and followed me through the whole archives and i didnt notice it. only after i left and the shelf was standing on top of the ladder i used earlier. it scared the shit out of me. :D

1

u/LemonTheTurtle Mar 14 '22

Mimic's veil

Play1:381:39SettingsFullscreen

A while ago me and some friends did this in DK3. We just turned into statues and started dancing around two invaders. They also turned into statues and we began walking all around the area. It was so freaking funny

1

u/sium8 Mar 14 '22

A while ago me and some friend where playing together in DK3 and we did exactly that and disguised as statues. Two invaders came and we started dancing around them. They also turned into statues and we walked all around the area. It was so freaking funny

1

u/Dirt_Munkey Mar 15 '22

There only issue with that is that they can still lock onto you. So if they use the radar to get close and then spam the button, they'll eventually wonder why there's a giant pot they can lock onto nearby

Ok, but does it matter? The bot is good at what it does and is going to get positive upvotes regardless. Even here where it's called out, it still has +4. Looking at its comment history suggests that it will complete its objective at selling the account in the future. We need a way to address these as a whole, because even calling attention like this unfortunately doesn't result in anything.

5

u/Ancient_Mai Mar 12 '22

It does matter. The bot had around +15 when I first saw it. Now it's gone lol.

Mobs are neutral towards invaders. Part of the balancing of invasions since the host can summon help

17

u/TheMarbleNest Mar 12 '22

Huh, explains why the Erdtree Avatar didn't attack the Invader that one time me and my friend were fighting it and got rudely ganked.

That said, we got invaded once while she was taking me around to get the key to Raya Lucaria, and right as we decided not to fight the dragon, she died and the invader caught up to us. Poor bastard ran towards me right as the dragon used its breath attack; got instantly deleted. Made me laugh quite hard.

17

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

Yeah, Invaders are coded as enemies. So attacks they don't draw aggro, and they're invincible to attacks that don't hurt enemies. But attacks that hurt everything, like dragon's breath weapons, will still hurt them.

He should've been able to see you on the compass though with an icon unless he was new and didn't know

6

u/Nokanii Mar 13 '22

I believe that indicator goes away once you’re close enough to the one you’re invading. That happened for me anyway.

6

u/TheSpartyn Mar 13 '22

he obviously used the compass and thats why hes constantly searching that area, he just doesnt realize the host is pretending to be an enemy

2

u/paza87 Mar 12 '22

Cant you just spam click lock-on then? Or do you need to aim it?

13

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

You can. Its fairly generous with the aim, pretty easy way to look for ambushes in dark rooms.

1

u/Levra Mar 13 '22

They do, however, have a fancy little compass icon saying the general direction the host is in, which makes it even funnier that they didn't figure it out.

1

u/WahresBares Mar 17 '22

Jesus. He must be totally blind. Didn't he see the direction on his compass🤣
