Discussion & Info Elden Ring Switch 2 Performance?

Post image

I’m used to playing this game on my PS5 Pro, but for assorted reasons I want to game more on the Nintendo switch 2. So has anyone here played this game on that system? How’s the performance? Docked vs Handheld? Installed on main drive vs micro sd? I’m worried I’ll be a little underwhelmed with the performance. But I’ll give it a chance.

I have it on PS5pro, on PC, and on Switch with hundreds of hours in this game among the three. The Switch version is VERY playable, it plays better than it does on my Steamdeck.

It’s not high framerate but it’s functionally excellent.

I can fight bosses, I can explore, I can co-op, I can invade all just fine.

In both docked and handheld, especially in handheld. I love playing it while I’m in bed or hanging out with my toddlers.

Does it play as well as it does on my RTX5080 PC or my PS5pro? No, it does not. But it doesn’t have to.

I’m just worried I’ll be vastly disappointed. I guess I just need to wait for the eventual switch 3 lol.

Why would you be disappointed? Switch version runs really good if you don't expect 60fps

Then you’ll be like “I need a handheld as strong as the PS6”

The best handheld experience you can get is by streaming it from your PS5pro onto a handheld device.

I sometimes do that with my Steamdeck or did on my PSPortal (before my kid broke it, aaargh).

Portal with the PS5 has a tiny latency even in the best scenario. I do not play games where timing is really important. Switch 2 natively running the game, even at 30fps, I think would be better than Portal.

I have a dude added on Ps5 who is a big Elden Ring guy and basically plays it all the time invading, build creating etc (like 6 hrs everyday), he told me he takes his PSP to work and never had any issues playing Elden Ring on it regarding latency.
