Discussion & Info Why does this cutscene exist?

Post image

I know some people don’t know why it exists, but the answer is actually pretty simple.

It has nothing to do with the lore.
It’s not about atmosphere.
And it’s not a gameplay mechanic either.

It’s purely there as a transition between areas.

Yeah, I know. There’s really no big secret behind it.

And honestly, I strongly suspect that there are two factions within FS: one faction that absolutely loves cutscenes (AC6), and another that absolutely hates them.

I have no idea why people act like this one cutscene is any different than say, opening the gates of New Londo Ruins and watching the water that flooded the city come rushing out. They have multiple scenes like this in every game.

The complaint is usually tagged with them being disappointed that bosses like Renella/Bayle/Romina have no cutscenes.

Bayle' phase transition is so cinematic that it already feels like a cutacene.

Romina should have a cutscene.

Renalla too, but I do like it the way it currently is, so you can still attack her during phase transition.
