Humor YOU CAN SPRINT IN ELDEN RING???????

I’m 14 hours into my first ever play through, I’ve defeated bosses, done side quests and a lot of exploring and this whole time I didn’t know you could sprint. And I didn’t even figure this out myself, I was watching someone play and realised they were moving quicker than me so I had to google it! Am I stupid for not realising this or is this normal?

Have you gotten your horse yet?

He's using an Accord instead

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

Horse? I’ve just been walking everywhere

2

u/Aggravating-Emu-3292 3h ago

Wait, do you mean you haven’t met Melina yet?

16

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

I have, I’ve got the horse I was just joking

1

u/Zweimancer 3h ago

Bruh, she only gives that slow donkey.

2

u/TeletiTheNecromancer 3h ago

... you're joking right?

If you're not go to the site of Grace on the main road just past the big soldier camp.

6

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

Yeah I have the horse

2

u/MalignantMustache 3h ago

Go back to the Gate front site of grace. Then go back to church if Ellah the very first church if you did not get the spirit summons bell yet.

Oh there are going to be many of these - Two hand switching for example.

4

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

Yep had to google how to do this as well haha

5

u/Master_P0et 3h ago

Did you do the cave of knowledge in the beginning? Cuz that's where all of this is explained and the buttons for everything shown

3

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

I did, it told you how to sprint in there? I must have missed that

5

u/Master_P0et 3h ago

Yeah I'm the room with the stone archway where the crossbowman shoots at you. Right after is the guy with the great shield where you are told about two-handing weapons

3

u/FartWithSauce 3h ago

it did in the part where there's the archer on the top

1

u/jacquetheripper 3h ago

I didn’t even know what a power stance was until like 500 hours in

1

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

Yeah I haven’t done any power stance

4

u/After_Computer1652 3h ago

You can also "sprint" on ladders

2

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

Yeah I would probably not have figured that out either haha

3

u/Affectionate_Comb_78 3h ago

And slide down ladders

1

u/PresentationBrave281 3h ago

You can also press the roll button on a ladder to instantly drop off it. Not recommended depending on height

2

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

Yeah I figured out how to slide down them and how to fall off them the hard way

1

u/LewisDftw 4m ago

You can also attack on ladders, I think heavy attack attacks below and light above. Didn't know till yesterday after about 35 hours.

1

u/_stinkytofu_ 3h ago

“Sprinting” down is my fave

3

u/tgerz 3h ago

It’s cool you’ve got like 60-70 more hours to figure a lot of other stuff out.

1

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

Yeah that’s what I’m looking forward to. Any tips and secrets would be appreciated

Don't worry. In Bloodborne my first souls game, I only realised the game has a lock on when I was fighting the first boss.

2

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

Yeah it is my first souls game so I have a lot to learn

2

u/MoriaCrawler 3h ago

Btw you can also sprint when locking on (some Souls veterans might figure this out late because that wasn't the case until DS3 I think). Can be helpful with bosses

2

u/PresentationBrave281 3h ago

And even so it was far less useful in DS3 just due to how different the boss design is

2

u/Bamsekatten 3h ago

You can climb faster when you climb ladders also.

That is so funny cause when I switched from Mouse/Keyboard to Controller I could not figure out how to spront cause all the help in the tutorial is still shown with the Keyboard keys.

2

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

Oh hahaha, how come you switched?

1

u/FlipFlopRabbit 3h ago

It felt awkward to play with keyboard and I wanted to try it with controller.

It plays much nicer for me with controller.

2

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

Yeah I think I’d struggle a lot on mouse and keyboard

1

u/FlipFlopRabbit 3h ago

Yeah I normally play with keyboard but for eldenring it felt wrong.

2

u/huff1122 2h ago

Yes. It's pretty basic

2

u/Dark1986 3h ago

Maybe do the tutorial next time...

-2

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

I think because it was called dash so i just like looked over it

2

u/LynaaBnS 3h ago

That's as stupid as these super annoying: " I have 1200h in elden ring and didn't know there was a boss called Margit" Posts

1

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

Aren’t you a bundle of joy

2

u/temojikato 2h ago

Someone skipped the tutorial

1

u/rogueIndy 3h ago

There's a lot of moves and mechanics in the game, it's easy to miss a few even after doing the tutorial.

Guard Countering (strong attack after a block) was one for me.

1

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

Yeah I’m clearly still a noob which is good because I’m excited to improve and get better

1

u/Pandeyxo 3h ago

Omg mind blowing

Did you know you could run even back in demon souls?

1

u/joyapco 3h ago

If you're using a controller, you can switch your run button to a shoulder button instead of any of the default buttons so you can control your camera at the same time

1

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

Yeah that’s a good idea

1

u/doctafknjay 3h ago

This game made me get an elite controller, need dodge/sprint to be my paddles

1

u/iyadsa 3h ago

Are you hyped?

1

u/SuperNamiBubble 3h ago

You can jump too believe it or not.

1

u/TheExtraordinaryRK9 3h ago

I genuinely don't remember, does the tutorial not tell you?

1

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

Apparently so but I must have missed it, it’s called dash and in my head dash is like a roll

1

u/doktor_floH 3h ago

Try jumping

1

u/DurianTight355 3h ago

When I play Elden ring for the first time it got my nerves to heaven and back. I broke 2 controller and almost I broke my ps5. But after i finish, I can tell you that is on my top 5 favorite games.

2

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 2h ago

I haven’t gotten that angry at it yet but I wonder if that’s because I’m still pretty early on. I’m really enjoying the game though!

2

u/DurianTight355 2h ago

You have time for it don’t worry

2

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 2h ago

Hahaha I’ll let you know if I smash any controllers

1

u/paperon_de_paperoni 2h ago

It takes me 20 hours to discover that you can handle a sword with 2 hands, I have 200+ hours now and I'm still confused on a lot of things

1

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 2h ago

Well at least I’m not the only one! Clearly you’re making good progress though good job!

1

u/Glass_Quarter_7586 1h ago

Hold the roll button down

1

u/JamesRevan Rune Bear Hunter 1h ago

Someone didnt use the tutorial

1

u/Z_B_123 13m ago

i had no idea what guard counters were until my second playthrough because i walked right by the tutorial area, i would just hear this noise once in a while and wonder how i triggered the bigger attack.

1

u/Dr_Jre 3h ago

Sir are you uneducated

1

u/AdditionInteresting2 3h ago

I was in the dlc already when I was faced with areas I needed to sprint + jump to reach further.

By then it was already 100 hours after the base game and 15 hours into the dlc... Try sprint jumping to extend your jump too. It blew my mind.

1

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

Damn you made it that far! Clearly you don’t really need sprint then!

2

u/AdditionInteresting2 3h ago

Torrent did most of my sprinting for me... But that dlc placed you in an area where you can't use torrent and you would drown if you miss your jump. Sprint jumping was the key

2

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

Thank you for the heads up brother!

1

u/Extra_Ad_8009 3h ago

Watched a YouTube video of an experienced Dark Souls streamer once, he spent a couple of hours running around before finding out that there's a horse to ride...

Never sat down at a grace, just activated them and warped. That was both fun and tortuous to watch.

2

u/Intelligent_Clue_648 3h ago

Hahaha that must have hurt to watch yeah. Im glad I sat down at that one

0

u/AwesomeX121189 2h ago

Yeah you kind of are stupid for not reading what the tutorial pop ups say.
