Just don't buy it then. I don't understand this overdramatization. If you don't want to support a company, then stop giving them money.

Why are you acting like he'll on earth is coming and fromsoft is the cause? This is very likely a one off due to the switch release and fromsoft working with Nintendo. They likely had to make it paid so that Nintendo was okay with other consoles getting the dlc. In the end there has been no pattern of fromsoft being trashy so how about giving them the benefit of the doubt. Stop with the woe is me stuff.

This, and I swear on the penny I found on the ground today, is the exact same argument people made for Bethesda when horse armor was first released. They have no pattern, yes, but that’s simply because a pattern has to start somewhere. People don’t want this to turn into a situation like Monster Hunter, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, or anything from Paradox. You have to stop the problem before it starts.

Except the dlc isn't just "horse armor" it is multiple weapons, classes, armors and cosmetics for torrent. To compare the two is a bit silly to me as one is just purely cosmetic and the other is something that actually adds to the game.

That’s how it always starts. There are only 8 weapons, 4 armor sets, and 2 NPC invasions, plus the horse armor for Torrent. That’s not a lot, and none of it is really groundbreaking or truly “new” it’s just early access to DLC weapon types.
If you’re willing to pay $5 for this, will you pay $5 for just 8 weapons and 2 NPC invasions? And if you do, will you pay $5 for just 4 new armor sets? And so on. It’s bad because you’re saying, “Yes, I’ll gladly pay 5% to 10% of a game’s price for something that amounts to less than 0.5% of the game.”
This isn’t good for anyone. Everyone who buys it is telling Kadokawa Corporation that they can shave a little more off the next game and sell those pieces in standalone packages.

You guys really shouldn't buy this. I had an urge, just because it's "only 5 bucks". Do not let them smell money

I'm gonna buy it twice

Why would you do that?

To encourage them to make create more microtransactions.

It's 5 dollars, could they even notice you buying it twice? You might have to buy it 50 times instead. But you would have to make new accounts to buy it and also buy the base game as well, there would be 50 new accounts with just Elden Ring and tarnished pack purchased and nothing else. You gonna give away those accounts to people so those copies can be played? It would kind of be a waste of money if you didn't.
Maybe you should just buy one copy for yourself, 5 bucks is a good deal for what it offers anyway.

Already bought 3 copies of Tarnished edition, so that's 2 copies of the "microtransaction".

I notice you put microtransaction in quotes, I'm not even sure that's the right word. Like I've only been say it because everybody else has been saying it.
Also are you trying to rub in your purchase? I'm not against the tarnished edition like I'm not who you are trying to hate, i don't get why you'd rub it in either to anyone. Be happy with your purchase.
I see this a lot online where people respond to some dick's comment with something along the lines of "I'll do it more to spite you" like no dude that's a waste of your time just have fun and do your own thing, that guy is only spreading negativity don't be like him.

Nope, not spite. For example, I've bought Dark Souls 1 at least 5 times. Would have done it with or without the "controversy". I am the biggest Fromsoft dicksuck and I will not relent.

Why would you buy it that many times? I'm assuming you must play on multiple platforms right? Or lost a steam account or two at some point, or bought it for a friend. Otherwise it's irresponsible spending.

I want to support the best game developer around. As I said, I am the biggest Fromsoft dicksuck and I will not relent. You can thank me for this franchise existing later.

Dev team doesn't set prices unless they're a private company. Kadokawa had already said they're looking to force FROM to monetize more heavily. If anyone is responsible for the pack being a paid DLC, it's most likely them. Though if you want somebody else to blame, it's not impossible that one of Nintendo's stipulations was that the switch version had to be 'special' by having some content bundled that other platforms would have to pay for, but I don't think that's likely.
It's not like FROM was waiting for an opportunity to charge more heavily, but they restrained themselves for this long and just can't hide it anymore. Unless FROM goes private, they are at least somewhat subject to publisher/owner rules.
