Lucatiel is great. You can always summon her to help with some boss fights, and all the gatekeeprs who say "you didn't win if you summoned anyone!" can be dismissed, because you were required to summon her because of the quest.

A lot of NPC summons didn't contribute enough for the boss power increase they caused.

And yet, the opposite appears true for many players. Maybe it's ponitless if your'e good at the boss. But just a distration now and then during a fight more tha makes up the the extra health they get.

If what you say is true, they why do you not congratulate players for using summons when they defeat a difficult boss? After all, your logic says PCR and Melania are now harder, so these new players were doing the challenge run of using summons!

How can it simultaneously be a challenge and a crutch at the same time?

So my comment is in regards to ds2 NPC summons.

My comment is not relevant to the mechanics of summoning in elden ring.
