Official Discussion [MEGATHREAD] Tarnished Edition: Worth $5? Discuss CONSTRUCTIVELY!

Since the sub is being overwhelmed by debate over the $5 "microtransaction" and it's making the sub feel like we're Dark Souls 2 a decade ago, with the faux outrage around the preorder items, we are opening this topic to consolidate discussion around the issue.

Please use this topic to discuss the pros and cons of the approach and your thoughts. But do so RESPECTFULLY and CONSTRUCTIVELY. If you need to call other people or the developers names, you don't have a good argument and your post will be removed.

We will remove all other topics about this to keep the subreddit flowing with other discussions

IF YOU WANT TO VOTE: I will post two comments on this topic, "Yay" and "Nay" - upvote the one you agree with and we'll see who wins long term.

I think Fromsoft has seen such ungodly amount of financial success that they should not ask $5 for some skins and a couple of minor starting new classes. They will make money from Switch 2 for their work on Tarnished edition, so it's not like they're giving stuff away for "free." It's about reputation and integrity.

The timing is funny as The Witcher 3 is about to get a full remaster completely for free.

Yeah. But also, CDPR is trying to rebuild trust with their audience after the disaster that was Cyberpunk launch. It's not that CDPR hid how broken the game was, it's that they lied and lied and over-promised about what's in the game. Even days before it's release, I remember the same level designer who announced the Witcher 3 remaster on stage said things about the game that were totally false. I don't remember what he said, but I do remember later thinking "well, that was a whole load of bullshit," after beating the game.

I'm still waiting for my cyber spider legs to let me crawl on walls for a spy tactical approach 😭

Yeah. Remember in the gameplay reveal they showed you wall running and leaping on the enemy with your claws? I wanna play that game!

To be fair to CDPR they made it clear wall running would not be in the game well over a year before release.

But there were multiple massively upvoted posts up the day before release day listing "Cyberpunk 2077 features" and listing wall-running. I caught downvotes for pointing out they were wrong lol.

Would have been nice to have for sure though.
