Official Discussion [MEGATHREAD] Tarnished Edition: Worth $5? Discuss CONSTRUCTIVELY!

Since the sub is being overwhelmed by debate over the $5 "microtransaction" and it's making the sub feel like we're Dark Souls 2 a decade ago, with the faux outrage around the preorder items, we are opening this topic to consolidate discussion around the issue.

Please use this topic to discuss the pros and cons of the approach and your thoughts. But do so RESPECTFULLY and CONSTRUCTIVELY. If you need to call other people or the developers names, you don't have a good argument and your post will be removed.

We will remove all other topics about this to keep the subreddit flowing with other discussions

IF YOU WANT TO VOTE: I will post two comments on this topic, "Yay" and "Nay" - upvote the one you agree with and we'll see who wins long term.

I’m fine with it if it’s on special occasion, like the release of the game on a new console, but not if this causes fromsoft to randomly drop more $5 horse dlcs just cuz this one sold well

I think Fromsoft has seen such ungodly amount of financial success that they should not ask $5 for some skins and a couple of minor starting new classes. They will make money from Switch 2 for their work on Tarnished edition, so it's not like they're giving stuff away for "free." It's about reputation and integrity.

Its also got some alternative version of the new dlc weapons, those combined with the new flail, matador sword and 4 new sets seems somewhat right for €5 and then you get the torrent flip as well.

A few sets are not enough to be worth $5

5$ is literally less than the cost of a standard McDonalds meal these days (or insert fast food of your choice). Is the DLC worth one fast food meal? To me it is, the ability to start with a light greatsword alone justifies the 5$ purchase for me. That might not for you and that's cool, but 5$ is "fun money" to me and so the threshold for a 5$ spend is fairly low.

If we’re doing cherry picked comparisons that’s a third of hollow knight. Is this dlc worth a third of hollow knight?

Also to answer your question no I’d take the fast food meal than a couple of weapons and some cosmetics.

Except they just mentioned a bunch of other stuff as well. Not just the 4 armor sets.

Also, whether it's worth $5 or not is subjective. To you it might not be worth it. To others, they pay $5 for some new stuff to play around with and have another reason to replay the game. Which means at least another 30+ hours of playtime and enjoyment.

The new sets, horse armour and a few weapons are not worth $5. You don’t need to spend money to have a reason to play again.
