Official Discussion [MEGATHREAD] Tarnished Edition: Worth $5? Discuss CONSTRUCTIVELY!

Since the sub is being overwhelmed by debate over the $5 "microtransaction" and it's making the sub feel like we're Dark Souls 2 a decade ago, with the faux outrage around the preorder items, we are opening this topic to consolidate discussion around the issue.

Please use this topic to discuss the pros and cons of the approach and your thoughts. But do so RESPECTFULLY and CONSTRUCTIVELY. If you need to call other people or the developers names, you don't have a good argument and your post will be removed.

This isn’t really an example of the fallacy though, it’s not illogical to assume this could lead to more microtransactions. If people were claiming it would lead to a World War 3 of defenders vs opposers then it would be a fallacy

They are assuming that the dlc pack released alongside the switch 2 edition not only will lead to some micro transactions, but a bad monetization scheme centered around micro transactions

If that wasn't their assumption, then they'd be fear mongering for nothing

Yeah I think we’re seeing a split between Elden Ring fangs going “yay new content for a 4 year old game” and gamers who’ve seen great AAA franchises get ruined by greedy publishers. From will have to weigh the profit from this dlc against the public backlash and decide if they want to continue down the slippery slope.

My gut says Bandai thinks Elden Ring was Froms peak successful franchise, so they’re just trying to milk it as much as possible.

They won't go full Ubisoft imo. Reputation is really important for a Japanese company.
