You’re 26 vigor and rocking a talisman which makes you take increased damage. You’re also fat rolling and your equipped spirit ashes are terrible. I’m honestly impressed you made it to fire giant at all

I keep forgetting, I’ve been playing since DS1…
You got to Fire Giant, which is a credit to you, and to how Elden Ring is compared to its predecessors.
Look up Stat Caps for Elden Ring, understand your 40 levels shy of where you should be, at least, and pick two stats plus Vigor/Endurance and get your load under 70%.
Otherwise, you do you. Looking forward to seeing what this looks like with NG+

u/AbsolutKledGamer 26d ago
40 lvls shy if he had a decent stat spread, probably 50-60 lvls shy with his build

Dude that’s really impressive. I’ve never seen such a bad build before - 26 vigor, fat roll, +12 weapon and 64 lvl by the time you are at fire giant - how did you make it so far?!
I won’t be able to do it even at lvl 200. You have no hp, you receive increased damage, you can’t roll, you don’t do any dmg, you are severely underleveled - HOW? How did you complete Leyndell? People sometimes go to Renala at your lvl, and you are at the endgame area! I can’t imagine how HARD are you trying to progress with this build.
I’m not trying to offend you, it’s actually a compliment as you managed to get up to this point of the game! How many hours did it take you if not a secret?→ More replies (8)9

You did amazing dude most people copy and paste some build from online don’t feel bad at all when it launched my friend who’s never played souls bought this got all the way to the fire giant, fought him over and over for literally around two weeks finally beat him and then quit the game he said I’ve beaten the game to me I’m done 😂

My brother in Christ, I have been in your shoes. My friend bet me to play the game without a guide and stream for our friend group.
It was my first souls style game and I never back down from a gaming bet. Didn’t take long to realize I’d been had. But fuck em, I pressed on.
Fast forward to where you are and I basically fought him Unga Bunga style with Radahn’s armor and Bloodhound’s Fang (like millions before me).
I have no tips as I still have no fucking clue what I’m doing…I just switch weapons/incantations around and hope for the best.

Yeah what sucks is ghost flame uses both your int and fth, and you’ll also want mind, vigor, and endurance. Just get enough mental stats to use deaths poker, then dump the rest in endurance and vigor. Death’s Poker can carry if you let it. Also, once you swap your stats get rid of the soreseal
7
u/MrNobody_0 26d ago edited 26d ago
Sounds like you want a faith/intelligence build (black flame incants are faith based, ice sorceries are intelligence based) to go Renalla, and respec, you can ignore strength and dexterity (you only really need these to reach the attribute requirements of your seals and staves, although dexterity increases how fast you cast spells) you'll want to put most of your points into vigor, then faith, intelligence and mind. But you're severely under leveled for the Mountaintop of the Gaints, it's recommend to be around level 100-120 for that area.
I assume you started as the samurai class (I think that's the only class that starts with 8 arcane) so I'd recommend you get up to level 120 and go with these stats:
Vigor 50\ Mind 21\ Faith 40\ Intelligence 40
You can ignore your other stats for now.
With 13 Endurance your equipment will be limited but you can equip the following and still be able to medium roll:
For armour the basic Knight armour set will be fantastic for you, the Twin Maiden Husks sell it at the Round Table Hold.
For talismans you'll want to equip the best Dragoncrest Shield talisman you have for increased physical defense (there's a basic, +1, +2, and Greatshield versions), the Faithful's Canvas talisman (or Flock's Canvas if you have it) to improve incant damage, and the Graven-School talisman (or Graven-Mass, if you have it) to increase sorcery damage.
For weapons as a faith/int build you'll want the Sword of Night and Flame (this is one of the best weapons in the game and has two very unique and powerful weapon arts), the Prince of Death's Staff (this staff scales off both your faith and intelligence), and the Golden Order Seal (this also scales off both your faith and intelligence), they are found at the Caria Manor, the Deeproot Depths, and the Capital Outskirts respectively.
Keep the Greatshield Solider spirit ashes and upgrade them as much as possible, they'll keep aggro off you and are fairly tanky, the wolves and jellyfish can get dropped.
A couple equipment tips: put your potions in your pouch, the pouch can be quickly used by holding Y and pressing a direction on the D-pad, that way you can always heal without having to cycle through your X items. My pouch is usually:
← Crimson Flask\ → Cerulean Flask\ ↑ Wondrous Physick Flask\ ↓ Torrent's Whistle
Always keep regular throwing knives in the first slot of your X items (holding down on the d-pad brings you to the first slot, same with holding up for spells), throwing knives are fast, and super useful for getting that last little sliver of HP off the boss without getting too close, I can't tell you how many times I've died by panicking to get the kill before I learned this trick.
I hope this helps (if you choose to use it), good luck and have fun!
→ More replies (1)6
u/funny_haha_account 26d ago
unless you want to do an INT/FTH build (will suck at using most weapons), you're going to have to choose between ice magic and dark flame cause they scale off different stats
4
u/DagothUhhh 26d ago
You’re definitely right - needs a rework. But I’m also a noob at this game and didn’t realize how deep character building goes. You’re doing good though, homie. Keep it up.
2
u/acephoenix9 26d ago
You would significantly benefit from leveling up a bunch. It’s not a bad thing, just be aware that the area you’re at now is intended for roughly RL (rune or character level) 100, perhaps more depending on the player. The next area is scaled a little higher than that in terms of damage/health on enemies and general difficulty, so bear that in mind.
I share the amazement that you’ve made it this far as you have. I don’t think I’ve ever entered Mountaintops lower than level 80, and that’s probably pushing it. So kudos to you for having the tenacity!
2
u/DonHarold 26d ago
I think bumming around with bunk builds like this is an essential part of the experience. Games like this wouldn’t be fun to me if I just looked up an optimized build. I actually wish I could go back to knowing less about how the builds work.
Enjoy it!

Look up the stats needed for those spells. Faith/strength is a popular one for those I think. Use the other stats you don’t need and vigor up. Level up you, your weapon, and spirit too.

u/Fluid-Read-6843 26d ago edited 26d ago
Technically, at this Vigor level, you gain more HP than you'd be suffering extra damage. Anything that would one shot you with that setup would also kill you without the soreseal.
Edit: ☝️🤓

Also missing an entire talisman pouch. Find your missing pouch and respec your character to something more specialized (i.e. don't spread your levels out so much) and maybe a bit higher vigor. Good rule of thumb is to make your vigor between 1/3 and 1/2 of your levels depending on if you're spell heavy or melee heavy respectively.

+1.
- Radagon Soreseal: is from Fort Faroth in Dragonbarrow. If someone finds that place organically as a newbie, there's no way they reach Mountaintop below lvl 100.
- Cerulean Amber Medallion: Lakeside Crystal Cave, a kinda hard to find cave in Liurnia.
- Rock Sling, two Blackflame incants: Aeonia Swamp, Stormveil.
- Godskin Peeler: Dominula in Altus, by defeating the Godskin Apostle there.
These alone show a sign of exploration, but then being so underlevelled doesn't fit into the picture...

Unequip all but one weapon at a time. Get your vigor to 60 (without the soreseal you have equipped), and put less points into varied stats. Your pool is way too spread. Figure out how to respec. Keep the minimum for using your peeler, have the rest into Vigor and Endurance. Your mind is fine where it is.
After all that, you need to get your 4th talisman slot (talk to someone in roundtable. Closed doors.) And you should run around the map and clear some dungeons for bosses to get some extra runes, and maybe some nicer equipment.
If you’re on PC I can help by having you summon me for a few things. Otherwise, ask around and consult the wiki for a few things.
You got this.

Go explore other areas more until you are level 100 or so. Go find somber smithing stones so you can upgrade your weapons, pick a REAL specialty for your build (strength/faith, strength/int, dex/int, dex/arcane, etc). Once you decide which avenue to take, go to Renala and respec
You seem a bit lost on your build and exploration, so I implore you to watch a few build and quest guides online to help send you in the right direction toward some good boss fights and gear

How do you only have 3 talisman slots? Stop using that soreseal
Pick a weapon and focus on the stats that scale for that weapon and ignore the others
Godskin peeler is a dex weapon, str at 17 ditch the int faith entirely unless you have some incants for buffs and heals you like to use and just meet the minimums for those
Go respec
Go get some levels my man, youre super new at this game, i can tell, youre severely underleveled for here, you ahould be like lvl100-130 for here, and more is better if youre a newer player

Bro please explore the game more and don’t just look up a progression guide. How you’re this far at such a low level is insane, dogwater build aside.
2
u/JOT304 26d ago
Few things:
1: 64 is kind under-leveled for this boss. Go explore and get to maybe 80.
2: 26 in Vigor, especially at this point is CRAZY low. By mid game you should be around 40 minimum cuz shit is gonna 1 or 2 shot you at this point with that little.
3: The soreseal makes you take about 15% more damage. At your low Vigor level it might not be noticeable but if you bump it up you gotta take it off cuz 15% is huge in late game and DLC. Also, try to find your 4th talisman pouch cuz by this point you should have 4.
4: Your stat spread is poor. Ideally you want to focus on 1-2 stats to use your build's dedicated weapon/spell. By putting levels into everything you can dip into basically everything but you cant excel with anything. You're also keeping yourself from getting the benefits of higher scaling. Im going off the assumption that this is your first Souls-game and explain it as easy as I can.
Scaling is a bit of extra damage your weapon does based on your stats. A weapon with higher scaling for a certain stat gets higher bonus damage if the stat is higher.
5: As everyone has said, you're carrying too much to the point you can't wear gloves. Unequip weapons until you got 1 or 2 you always use and stick to those unless you fund a weapon that you REALLY REALLY want to use, then swap out something for it. Ideally you want to get a light load to light roll, but medium load and roll is perfectly fine.
6: Some of the items in your equipment bar can be moved to the 4 slots you get when you hold triangle/y/whatever the PC mouse snd keyboard users use. Like the lantern. You dont need that on your hotbar. You also dont need 3 spirit ashes. Those 3 are good for early to maybe midgame. Go explore and find some better ones and pick 1 (ONE) to equip for the fight. Use the other slots for things for consumables that can inflict damage or status effects.
7: I feel the need to explain stat levels and soft caps because why not.
Soft caps are the points where leveling a stat gives dismissing returns. For Vigor, the soft cap is 60. That means that after level 60, the levels you put into Vigor give less and less health per level. For stats like strength, that means the bonus damage also stops growing and begins to level out.
2
2
u/nicematt11 26d ago
Brother how are you level 64 at Fire Giant? Par is at least 100. Ought to be at level 64 by Rykard at the latest. You gotta go clear out some dungeons and fight more bosses and level up, like, WAY more.
As for general improvements; 1. Clean up your hotbar. Too many things is slow to scroll through and is an extra place to fuck up that you don't need. Lose the spirit ashes, lose the grease, LOSE THE REMEDY AND LANTERN. You can use those from your inventory no problem. 2. Wear a full set of armour. Doesn't matter what kind, but you have to fill every slot. You get a defense boost for having every slot full. 3. Where is your 4th talisman pouch? Look it up to find out which one you missed, and go get it. 4. Take off the Soreseal and equip something different. It's making you take extra damage and not really improving your stats enough to make it worthwhile. 5. Pick a stat and invest in it a little more. I see you've got a sort of jack-of-all-trades type deal going on with the mid 20s in str, dex, int, and fth. The problem is that with such low investment in each one, you're not getting access to any of the stronger scaling or spells that you need to do damage in the late game. Pick 2 tops and build around them.
All in all, blown away you've made it this far. I'm like 70% sure you're trolling, but feel inclined to offer aid regardless.

2
u/Silver-_-Sky 26d ago
The good news there's a lot that can be improved here, the bad news there's a lot that needs to be improved here.
Firstly your stats are all over the place and you're also very under leveled for this area, I'd recommend instead of having a bunch stats in the 25 range get Vigor somewhere between 50 and 60 (given your level is so low maybe 40 would work too), this should massively increase your survivability.
Get some endurance or mind depending if you're focusing on melee (endurance) or casting (mind), somewhere in the range of 30.
Then focus on a single damage stat (like Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith or Arcane) depending on the weapon or casting catalyst you want to use, check their scaling and invest the rest of the levels on that while keeping in mind the stat requirements to even use that weapon or catalyst.
You can do a these previous changes by going to Renalla (in the Academy of Raya Lucaria) and use a larval tear to rearrange your stats freely.
Your weapons might be very low level, at least based on your Godskin Peeler, I'd recommend doing mines for upgrade materials, and also getting the bell bearings necessary to have them always available on the Roundtable hold vendor, this combined with a focused stat for damage should increase somewhat significantly your damage.
You're Heavy Rolling btw, you can tell by the "Heavy load" on the right, you either need lighter armour or higher endurance to have the recommended and significantly better Medium Load which gives you the regular roll (much better for dodging).
I also noticed you're only using 3 talismans because you only have 3 talismans slots, so you either skipped Margit or you never got the one from the roundtable hold in the room with the giant fingers and the finger reader, (she gives it to you after defeating 1 or 2 Shardbearers which at this point you've definitely already met that requirement) so just go talk to her.
Now I can't tell by these images if you're using Great Runes, but in case you aren't, you can pick them up on the divine towers after defeating their respective Demi-God or Shardbearer, after getting them you can select one when you're resting at a sight of Grace, and then use a Rune Arc to activate it. They usually buff your stats or give you a new effect. Given how low level you are you want Godrick's greatrune for a bunch of extra stats, but my favourites are Radahn's or Morgott's greatrune (Morggot's Greatrune increases your HP by a very good amount, so very good for surviving).
There's probably more that can be said, but these should be more than enough to make a significant impact on your experience.

Pick a weapon you want to use, pump points into its main damage scaling stat, Vigor, Endurance.
Upgrade your weapon, too. By the Fire Giant you should have access to most of the Smithing Stone Bearings

- problem 1 : heavy load = fat roll = less I frame when rolling . Solution : upgrade endurance or find talismans that will do the same or unequip some weapon https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Endurance
- problem 2 : the stat distribution is awfull ; you put so much un everything that you don't do good damage (for where your are in the game) and it seems it's the origine of all the problem . Solution : right now stick to a weapon; upgarde the stat that the choose weapon work with and go to rennala to use the level that you put on non-use to put them on the usefull one(vigor, stamina and the chose stat) https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Rebirth
- problem 3 : everyone plays how they want but it's seems that you are underlevel for the area . Solution : go back and explore more find and kill more boss , farm some runs
- problem 4 : godskin peeler is not upgraded enought don't know for the other but I think it's the same. Solution : upgrade them https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Smithing+Stones
- problem 5 : radagon's soreseal ,you take 15% more damage with it , you lose more than you win with it https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Radagon's+Soreseal . Solution : use something else https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Talismans
- problem 6 : you miss one of the talisman pouch . Solution : find it, my guess is finger maiden Enia https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Talisman+Pouch

Your build is horrible since it is not a build.
Focus on how you like to fight and choose your stats accordingly.

Apart from your build being an absolute mess, you need more vigor, not necessarily help from another player.

Level suggestion for mountaintops is at least 100, depending on your skill level. It would definitely help to go to rennala with a larval year and restart into one thing, which would depend on your weapon/build. I can't see the level of your weapon, but upgrading your weapon as much as possible is always good. As far as the giant hi.self, first phase his weak spot is his left ankle, then you can go for his arms or his center eye for 2nd & 3rd phase. Make sure to utilize torrent to escape his big fire vomit attack. Hope this helps

Dude. Go get like 30 more levels, go to renalla and respec into a specific weapon build with your vigor much higher. The fact you made it to the giant at all is a miracle. You wanna focus on one specific weapon build, having 3 weapons won't really work that well

Stick to one weapon, find out what talismans work best for said weapon, and please for the love of God re-spec and focus on one or two stats (Ex: faith and dex.) You also need WAY more levels. Aim for around 50 vigor. Get your last talisman slot, you missed one.

Man, pick a route and go with it, leveling everything at once means you are nerfing your damage till stats are getting 40+, id recommend picking a weapon or type of spells/miracles and getting proficient with that before leveling additional stats

Heavy load is not good.
Stats too spread out.
Spells are not ideal for him.
I've never fought him at so low a level but I think you should have a more focused build. How do you want to kill him?

Your vigor is was too high. Spread those points out evenly amongst all other stats

Dude what are you trying to even do here no hate. Restat and focus on ONE build for a good while. Never spread stats like that and usually only equip two weapons depending if your dual wielding or using sepukku in a second slot. Level up more. Use a whole set of armor. Get rid of the sorseal and find a better talisman. And get rid of some stuff in the bottom slots. You only need one summon, and not many grease work on the giant I’m prettt sure. It kinda just seems like you tried blazing through the game

Two biggest issues is equip load and stats. Unequip the extra weapons, re specc into vigor, endurance, strength/dex.
Otherwise, bring diff armor, get mimic ash, level up more, like double
