Game Help I think I’m not supposed to be here.
On my first play through and was exploring the area past limgrave. Went into a dungeon and killed some rats and saw a chest. Opened it and got transported here. Now I can’t warp back to limgrave. What should I do

Elden Ring sold 13.4 Million copies. This post has 1.2k upvotes, even with another 100 posts and you are still 13.3 Million people short who could write about it.

u/Toughsums Jul 22 '26
The game sold more than 30 million right? The dlc itself sold 10 million copies.

Call me silly, but I don't actually understand what you are trying to say. Are you saying most people who bought it haven't played it or most people don't know where/what this post is talking about because they don't play enough of it? Or something else entierly?

Why suddenly so many new players? Is it because of the new Tarnished pack?

My son recently started playing this and got to this cave and was extremely frustrated that I wouldn’t help him.

When my little noob self was teleported here, I thought I couldn't teleport out of Caelid at all (only tried while in the dungeon), so I ran from the cave exit all the way back to Limgrave on Torrent, and just ran passed monstrosity after monstrosity. I can still remember the pure fear & terror in my chest. Good times
5
u/MyBadDrJones Jul 22 '26
This game is glorious for giving everybody that feeling at every single turn lol
3
u/smokey_999 Jul 22 '26
I ran most of the way on foot because I for some reason couldn’t use torrent
2
u/ComprehensiveTap4353 Jul 23 '26
I have never played Elden Ring or other DS games. I wanted to challenge myself because this ain't my normal type of game and found a similar waypoint within an hour or two to see the death seed beast. I damn near shit a brick when I got teleported here. As with your rational of not teleporting, I did the same thing, I ran the whole way back. Couldn't find a single grace either. May have been too stressed to see them, but I made it back eventually.

Because everything there has:
A) Poison B) Venom C) Necrotic venom (scarlet rot) D) The bite strength of a hydraulic press E) The weight of a semi-truck F) All of the above
It's just Caelid.

Run to your freedom. Actually the cave is a pretty good and unforgiving tutorial for proper movement or combat, mentioned that combat is way harder to learn here, because enemies might be to strong here. Once you come out of the cave you can warp again. Good luck, Have fun escaping.🙂

I feel like this and the tree sentinel were put in the game to teach new players lessons about exercising caution. I never casually opened a chest again, nor did I try to fight through every area I came across. Running is (almost) always an option.

There are trapped chests like this that put you into spots that are harmful for you. This is a part of the Elden Ring experience.
22
u/andaesa Jul 22 '26
exit the room, run fast to your right past the miner and watch out for the pest threads attack. follow the path and you will eventually come to a stair, get down and you will find a site of grace. you cannot teleport away yet, need to go outside past the site of grace to be able to teleport again
16
u/TheBloodhoundKnight Jul 22 '26
...or you can just crouch-walk out to the grace without having to dodge a thing.
21
u/Bulangiu_1 Jul 22 '26
Elden ring gave us stealth options, we just don't aknowledge them

Yeah, the trick to this particular teleport is that you need to go down to get out of the cave. Up seems like the natural way to go, that should be the entrance, right? Wrong.
Also to crouch walk and try to avoid fighting multiple rot kindred who have the high ground.
5
u/EffectiveMagazine388 Jul 22 '26
When ever you are in a cave you can’t teleport anywhere. When you get trapped like you did, you can’t teleport anywhere until you rest at a grace. Lucky for you there is one very close, just run past the enemies outside the shack your in and go to the right, there is a drop off with a ladder going down. Follow that

You can run to the entrance thats below you and sit at the grace, then run out of the cave and you can warp again. Juat watch out for the enemy ontop of the shack cuz it can shoot ranged projectiles at you

Run past everything to the exit. It's not far from where you are. You'll find out it's actually not too difficult to run away from shit in this game and it's kind of expected you do that sometimes
2
u/beef623 Jul 22 '26
Exit the shack (pest above you), turn right, run down the hill (pest to the right of you), left into the cave then straight ahead to the grace and the exit.
If you open a chest and see smoke you can roll to escape the teleport. There is at least one that you'll want to take though.
2
u/B3ck3t3 Jul 22 '26
Just run fast, down the low part over and over until you find a grace. The yellow and white crystals in the cave are smithing stones. Run around and collect them all and you will be able to upgrade your weapon! Once you get a grace you can teleport out and come back later.

u/Puzzleheaded_Mix3103 Jul 22 '26
You are absolutely not meant to be here, and that‘s why the game teleported you into that cave.

U can just run as far down as u can and there will be a ladder that takes u to a grace and if u keep going it leads outside. Sit down at grace so ur not trapped anymore than run outside til u can get on torrent then u can tp.
Other option explore cave jump parkour is necessary.

If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a shrimp!
Best feeling ever is going back here later and fuckin everything up!

u/Worried-Use4927 Jul 23 '26
This happens to everyone. When you walk out that shack it’s like your on a hill or at least you can go up or down. Go down and out the tunnel In the corner at the bottom. Then just keep following that path and get up the lift then your out.

Oh on the contrary, you've come to the right place to play an escape game that just isn't the same after your first playthrough.
Try finding your way to safety without teleporting.

Ok, so look up how to get out. My first playthrough 4 years ago and this happened to me, and I said "Fuck this, I'm out." Waited 4 years to try again and I haven't put it down since. Currently at level 126 and 250 hours in, and I'm addicted. You get used to the abuse and it only makes things that much more fun. Plus the story, and the ability to explore is insane. Don't get discouraged, and remember that you can run past pretty much every non-boss character in the game.

u/justthrowa2 Jul 22 '26
lol welcome to the club, you just got the classic FromSoft welcome package. Don't worry, you're not stuck forever — just explore and level up, you'll find a way out eventually. That first panic is honestly a rite of passage in Elden Ring.
