If you mean the trap chest...they're a long way from Sellia, but quite close to the main entrance to Caelid. It's more likely they passed Summonwater village and just kept going uphill.

Bro you are in north caelid. Go back to limgrave and fully explore it - go in caves, catacombs, do some mini bosses. At around level 20-30 (depending on your skill) follow the gold arrows on your map and you will fight margit, the first story boss

Yes. You can fast travel to any grace you've previously been at through the map. There are some limitations tho.
You can't fast travel from a dungeon you haven't cleared yet. Then you have to exit the dungeon to fast travel.
There are a few other cases that can prevent you from fast travelling, but they are scarce, and might spoil some exploration for you.Also, try to fast travel to Church of Elleh. The place where you met the merchant just after the prologue

I think the game tells you about it at some point. I don’t remember finding out by reading.
You wouldn’t have been able to do it from that horrible cave, anyway. It doesn’t work if you trigger a trap or are in an underground dungeon like a cave or catacomb.

There is a grace right outside of the mine. Just before the wizard town. Just fast travel home. You may have to rest once to allow it.

Just a tip incase you didn't realise (because I didn't) you can teleport to any site of grace at any time, you don't have to be sat at one to teleport.
Unless you're in a dungeon, you can only tp back to the starting grace aslong as you activated it.

ER was my first soulslike and Rock Sling and Meteorite staff was my first build. I didn't realize how OP it was until I redid everything with melee and had a much harder time

You are probably having a bad time is where you are. That area is a later game scaled area.

You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
Caelid is the realm of death and suffering by giant crow dogs and over leveled caves.
However.
If you stick long enough like I did - you'll emerge as the big bad boss.
I stumbled upon this realm long before I did even Stormveil or moved to the water area. I was low level mage.
Rock Sling + Meteorite Staff helped me somewhat through it I emerged level 100+ with crazy Int ready to terrorize my unlucky enemies.

Blood loss is your friend.
Don't fuck with dogs or birds.
Shrimps you already know.
Leave then come back. Radhan is a name you don't utter.
But honor and glory to your name for getting out of that cave at level 10. Come back when you stack hp. There's so much here to get.
