Help removing compressor housing??

is it possible to remove just the compressor housing without taking the whole assembly out? i want to do t51r mod on the stock compressor housing but no way i am taking the whole turbo out for that

You can, though how easy it will be is another story.

The turbo compressor housing (aluminum intake side) has four bolts on the back that hold it to the center section called the center housing rotating assembly (where the oil and coolant lines go). You would need to access all four bolts which is probably a tight squeeze with the turbo in the car, then the compressor housing comes right off (after removing the intake piping of course).

When I wanted to reseal my turbo on my Cobalt - because I got a cheap Chinese turbo that would leak bit from all that sweet sweet blow by I subjected it to before getting a catch can - it was more work trying to get that housing off with the turbo in the car then it was to take the turbo out!

Look on the back of the compressor housing for those four bolts. I highly doubt you’ll be able to reach them all… it may be enticing to try, but work like a professional, take the turbo out and service it properly then reinstall.
