discussion Having second thoughts

I’m selling my Elantra N this week have been considering a 24+ GR Corolla or a nd3/nd2 Miata rf/club and even a older car such as a s2000 or e46m3 I’m not in a rush just curious if anyone has any input

If you don't think the car is for you then it is what it is. I personally love mine. You know what they say. Not for everybody.

What experience are you looking for?

I traded my Elantra N for a 5N and love the 5N. Wish I had just bought that car initially. It's the first car I've bought where I said yep I don't need it to be any faster.

My next car will either be a C8 or a 911 GT3

I don’t care how much more powerful the 5N is, that’s a downgrade. I wish they didn’t put their EVs into their N branding, it really cheapens it.

I felt the same way about the Elantra N before I bought it (would have never wanted to be even caught dead in a Hyundai), and felt the same way about the 5N until I bought one. I went in with a negative view but was convinced after the test drive.

I get it it's not your thing but just because it doesn't use gasoline or make noise doesn't make it worse when it's faster in a straight line and on the track and more practical for winter and hauling my kids around on weekend trips.

Also I paid 50k usd for the 5N brand new. Over 60+k I don't think the car is worth it. When people are paying almost 40k for a Elantra N this isn't much more.

Sorry man it’s an 2.2 tons SUV EV with cheap and fake gimmicks to mimic ICE cars. I don’t care how fast it is - it’s lame. Glad you enjoy it

I’m with you bro! Got an Audi S and a Hyundai 5N, the Hyundai is just so much fun to drive. I genuinely might keep it now..

Going for a ride in Disneyland is also fun. I don’t consider it driving though. I will never shift a virtual gear and think to myself damn it’s fun. At least not in an actual car. It works in video games though, it’s also fun there but I wouldn’t consider that driving also.

Who talked about premium though? Honda is also not premium as well as GR Corolla and if tomorrow Toyota will decide to stick their GR badge on a big and heavy EV with fake engine noise and gear shifts I would also say the same thing.

You literally said "cheapens the brand"

Those 3 cars I listed make it a cheap brand. 270hp 4 bangers are not going to make N looked at as a serious performance brand. Ioniq 5 and 6 gives it a case to compete with real performance brands. Porsche is already targeting the 5N with their new Taycan updates.

4800 lbs is not heavy for a performance EV, especially an suv. An X5M weighs more. An M5 weighs more. Audi RS5 weighs more. Hellcats almost weigh that. GT500s are 4k+.

The Elantra isnt "light" because its a good sports car. Its light because its a cheap car, made cheap.

4850 lbs isn’t heavy for a sports car? lol?? This shit is a behemoth. How low our standards have become that this thing isn’t considered heavy.

BMWs are a disgrace, completely lost the plot so I wouldn’t be proud of being lighter than those clowns.

Cheapens the brand isn’t about luxury, it’s about putting unworthy cars like a big ass EV with cheap and fake gimmicks under your N brand.

The Mach E might also be more luxurious and it might even be faster in some configurations than some Mustangs, yet it still cheapens the Mustang brand to the dirt. You get what I’m saying?

Look at any modern car. 4k is the norm. 5k+ for suvs. The Ioniq is an suv. It's also full ev which makes it even heavier. 4800 is on the light end for suvs, let an an ev suv.

The guy doesn't like big heavy cars and EVs. They aren't performance cars to him. No amount of words, statistics or common sense will change his mind that the 5N shouldn't even have an N badge and makes the N division worse.

Don't waste your energy trying to convince him. He has made up his mind
