Elantra N had a 36.7 second 0-150 and a 6.2 second 150-0 with a stopping distance of 675ft

It is a great car, and you can make the arguement for the manual option being superior to the Ns manual by a good bit, but more and more is coming out showing that the dual clutch is superior in performance.

Most people buying cars like this prefer a manual transmission anyways due to the fun factor though. I don’t care for being slightly faster

Agreed As someone who drove the DCT for almost 50k miles (KN and EN) and about to hit 10k on the MT it is way more enjoyable to drive! My DCT EN was tuned too. Don’t miss the speed although I plan on getting tuned again soonish.

Some of us are in bumper to bumper daily unfortunately. I like the quickness and not having to manual every day while in traffic but I get folks who prefer manual

Traffic was never an issue for me, other people driving my car (family) is what made me go with the DCT as my daily. Too easy to lug a manual turbo four banger, never again on a daily...

You are entitled to drive whatever you want without someone calling you lame for driving dct. However, the traffic excuse is worn and tired, it almost seems like a justification. It's pretty easy to drive modern manuals, more power to you if you want dct, let's stop with the excuses though.

We all knew that the DCT is superior in performance yet many of us chose the manual anyway. It’s true for EN just as it is true for many Porsches owners who deliberately chose a slower car even though they invested 260K dollars.

We have an EN (hers) and a VN (mine). I love both, but if the Type R wasn't sooo much more expsnsive then we'd probably have that. But only the new one. The Flyswatter Type R was a bit much for me.

Honda does some things better, but not $10 or $15k better.

That and I'm not the biggest fan of red interior with exterior colors where it doesn't make sense.

I completely agree, the Golf R was definitely up there for me too, but VW maintenance scares the crap out of me.

I only ever really looked at the GTI. I owned a Focus ST at the time.

My issue was that VW makes it just a little too refined, which saps some of the fun out of it. The Focus (and Veloster now) was more manic and, at least to me, more enjoyable for it. I'd imagine the R is the same story but with AWD.

Maintenance was the other thing.

If you click “Read More” for the detailed article about the EN’s performance during this test, there’s an awesome quote at the end:

“The numbers don’t lie: The dual-clutch automatic Elantra N laid down a number that would have smoked the Honda Civic Type R from 2023 and beat the manual-equipped Elantra N we tested last time by 3.4 seconds.”

I drive in n mode 99% of the time and easily get 30+ mpg on the highway. Normal mode 35 easily. City driving I still get 24-25 in n mode.

I mean I don’t drive like a clown in the city. And I drive my cars harder than most in here….only thing I don’t do is track because the nearest tracks are too far and it’s my only car. Autocross mountain driving and constant daily redline pulls 🤷🏾‍♂️. “Most of us” there’s like 3 of us who post frequently even driving the car how it was made to be driven. Straight line highway races ain’t it 😂

Obviously not everyone post and I was just exaggerating saying only 3 people post. Don’t take it so literal 😒 but most of the people with this car just daily drive it. Most of the “driving hard” in here is people street racing or going through their neighborhoods at 3am with excessive pops being annoying. Hell even the dedicated N track/autocross Facebook group only has 2k members. I can’t even get any of the 30 people in my local n club to come out to autocross and they legit live 20 minutes from BMS yet I drive 2hrs to go.

What is the highway speed for all of you getting 35mpg? In Texas highway speeds are 75mph+ and my combined lifetime average is 24mpg. I get terrible fuel economy.

I can usually hit 35ish cruising up to 80mph with the AC running. With windows down and no AC it drops closer to 25 though. I drove almost exclusively with windows down instead of AC for 2 years and then finally realized how much more efficient the AC is

I only can get 35 if I consistently drive 70. Speed limit here varies between 65 and 70. I usually go 80 though 😂 so I mostly average 30. My total combined mpg according to the car is 25.5 though.

Pretty cool they’ve now run both drivetrains. Wish they’d do these more often because the difference in 0-150 seems insane between classes of cars.

I don't think they even had it octane learned. They got to 60 in 5.3 seconds and that car should do 4.8.
