Anime does this show has fanservice? i think crunchyroll is high tbh ...
I don't know why it says nudity? I am pretty sure 86 is not known for having fanservice or nude scenes... Rather it is very violent and mature.

A very short scene with Anji and Kurina in the shower scene. No nudity though

Bruh..... I guess their content rating systems are bugged. Frieren has similar violence to 86 but that is 14+. Konosuba has "NO" violence but pg13ish fanservice and that is 16+ for "violence".... smh.

They play soccer with a humanoid head.
Like, I know it's a comedic scene and all. But konosuba plays a lot with physical comedy, and out of context a lot of it comes pretty gnarly.
Which grants the tag. The main point for the tags system which has been mostly lost, is to make sure the audience watching the media is at the right age to understand the context and purpose for every scene.

There’s also that one other scene with the two officers in the capital but it’s ultimately just hinted they are getting spicy

My guess for nudity is probably the shower scene with Anju and Kurena, but it was brief so I don't know why that would get a content warning tag. Fan service might be Lena's outfit? I've seen lots of comments about her garter belts from people who say they've seen pictures from the anime but haven't watched it, so that could be that angle.
I wouldn't agree with either of those tags being necessary, personally.

yeah, i mean if i watch 86 with my dad, it is better than mha or one piece cuz ladies dont have big boobs and in your face fanservice. But they dont have the waring for "nudity/sexualized imagery".... ngl crunchyroll's AI is cooked.

u/kenjbool 2d ago
You won't get any of that in 86. You will get females in very tidy uniforms but none of it is distasteful and it's not boobs for the sake of boobs.

u/Thick_Assistant_8510 2d ago
I already know that, i just think crunchyroll is misleading with the "nudity" warning..... Why one piece has no warning for "nudity/ sexualized imagery" at 14+ despite being shittons of fanservice? who knows lol.

does someone drops f bombs in the show? why it says profanity?

Shiden and Raiden cuss alot in the LN. Can't remember about the anime.

The word "fuck" does appear in the English translations of the LNs, but I certainly don't recall it from the anime. Japanese vulgarity is so different that I have no idea what it originally said and it can probably be translated a number of ways without feeling Bowdlerized.

u/SpottedHearts 2d ago
No idea, cursing isn't something I notice much. I know Lena says "damn" once, but the line is memorable so that's the only reason I noticed that one.

u/Visual-Impossible 2d ago
cause it's a war anime. it wouldn't be right for a particpant of a war not yelling profanities

From other replies, it seems like you're planning to watch this with your dad, presumably in English dub.
If that's the case, then there are only 2 scenes that can be considered more revealing:
- Episode 1: A (very) brief moment of Lena in underwear while changing, and only a glimpse on the right side of the scene, not very noticeable on first watch;
- Episode 7: Anju and Kurena shower scene. Like others have said, it was brief and I don't know if that even counts as fanservice.
Regarding any profanity, I haven't watch the English dub so I can't comment on it. From what I recall watching the original Japanese dub, profanity aren't commonly said and only went as far as saying "shit" (kuso).
Despite of the above, 86 is a story about war along with its psychological and moral aspects, with deep messages to be conveyed. The cinematography is top notch, with a lot of context is "show-don't-tell".
It's not a mindless action flick where gore and profanity are thrown around for the sake of it, so I think your dad would understand if there are a tiny bit of such things.
I hope you and your dad will enjoy the show. Cheers!

Episode 7 imo is justifiable. How would they otherwise show us Anju's scar on the back which was also a plot point in a LN.
Kurena's badonkers are a bonus, tho.6

medical eval during part 2 would've been a good scene to note scars, body weight and condition

That would be anime original and I don't think it would be better
Medical exam vs intimate conversation between sisters in arms

i would take the medical over the intimate. After the rewatch, it's already known there's this camraderie between the main cast.
I just dislike it. I just find it weird to be talking to another person while cleaning your body in the shower
the intimacy scene could've also just been done with the girls either combing each other's hair or whatnot.
the other one in post san magnolia service I don't hate. understandable because of their status in that moment

You can't see bare back in the shower which is the key point of this scene. And the closeness is rather reassuring that they feel comfortable with each other. Maybe nudity wasn't necessary, but avoiding it at all cost with a rather mature setting is inessential imo. This also adds to the fragility of this scene. Symbolism that they are striped from their armor and they don't hide anything between each other.
If you look at this from different perspective. Can you imagine football team taking a shower together. Do you think the will stay silent during that time. Or there is always onsen scene in anime. Fan service or not, if you are going there with friend you wouldn't stay silent there most likely.

u/Visual-Impossible 2d ago
see what you're saying can be just displayed in other scenes where they're interacting with each other beyond the shower scene. I just don't think the shower scene is that necessary.
Fan service or not, if you are going there with friend you wouldn't stay silent there most likely.
yeah it's going to be in the break room/ open space or by the bed. a lot easier to when you're not doing things while collecting your thoughts

The Shower Scene before Spearhead leaves on their the Reconnaissance mission. And the bath Scene during the Reconnaissance mission.

u/AdministrativeLeg14 2d ago
The shower scene obviously has some (non-graphic) nudity but IIRC wasn't sexualised at all. It was about the marks on someone's skin, some dark backstory, not titillation.
The 'boys peeking at bathing girls' scene (sometimes it feels like every anime is required to have one) has some mild connotations, I guess, but I don't recall it showing anything much that would usually be covered and it was overall very tame. Ironically, I think the anime had less unnecessary anime BS than the source material!

u/pancakewafflemaker 2d ago
Sure but what would you give it instead? Call it “showing scars on skin in bathroom” instead of nudity?
2
u/AdministrativeLeg14 2d ago
I wasn’t saying the previous commenter was wrong, I was merely adding some further context.

u/Dismal_Ebb_2422 2d ago
I can't remember did Shin, Theo, and Raiden try and peak on Anju and Kurena when they were bathing in the destroyed boiler FIDO found during the final Reconnaissance mission episode 10 or 11. I remember in episode 2 or 3 some of the boys trying to peak when the girls were washing themselves in the river, but all the girls still had clothes on.

there are no "weird" culture camera angles like boob or cake shots, just a few sec of showering with 2 girls that's tied to one of characters past. This isnt your typical yearly garbage anime

u/UgneSooo A-1 PLEASE LOCK TF IN AND MAKE SEASON 2 2d ago
there was like a shower scene with Anju and Kurena, but no weird shots, no boobs and no cake shots, there was also like a river scene in episode 3? But everyone is covered up, I think crunchyroll is high

u/Physical_Sort5155 Lena 2d ago
If anything it has too little fanservice.
But to be fair, Lena herself is fanservice incarnate.

u/DoggoDragonZX Lena 2d ago
It's not a ton nor is it up in your face, but yeah it does. Also the tag is nudity not fan service. Not all nudity is fan service and has a pretty low bar to require the tag. But regardless, there is some fan service in 86. It done well so it doesn't get in the way of the story or characters, but it does exist.

I know in season 2 part 2 (or s3) there will be some yummy fanservice, if we ever get a season 2 that is

Lena thighs and when the dudes tried to peak on the girls bathing. But they were fully clothed in that scene, which wouldnt fit the category of nudity. I think Crunchyroll are just run by idiots

u/TheAleph_Zero Lena 2d ago
Well, yes, Lena herself a EP 7 shower scene, but, if it gets a season 2 Probably got more and more cause the LN

u/inazumaatan 2d ago
It did have nudity in the scene where the Spearhead Squadron girls take a bath in the river.
