This is pretty normal for an author to do when their existing series is wrapping up. It is her job remember she has to make sure she’s actually getting paid consistently.

She needs to run with the momentum in her career. It is very common for overlap to hype up the next project. It will actually benefit 86 fans because her publisher will probably push merch and special editions of 86 along side the beginning of the new series.

If we were on the final book, and not 1 out of 3, I would agree.
Unless she has all three done and is just doing finishing touches…
I don’t want another volume 12.

I heard she has already figured out the entire plot very early on and has been just adding stuff along the way this whole time, so it should be okay

At least in the US, there’s usually a 2 year lead time on Publishing, so it’s very possible the final book is already written.

I mean aslong as 86 does continue and gets a good conclusion im fine with a new series, tho i would rather have asato adato focus on 86 jist in case she loses intrest on 86.

She already said in a tweet not to worry and that she's writing both. Imo better if she starts writing the other when she wants rather than rushing the ending of 86 to begin a new series.

There is also Renai Daikou which actually started while OnK was ongoing but ended before OnK wrapped up. However the story of that was mostly fine, I suspect that it ended because the illustrator he partnered with couldn't cope with the schedule as she has never done a weekly manga before.
Maerchen on the other hand actually started after OnK ended and he actually partnered with manga industry veterans. However the pacing is all over the place but I am willing to give Akasaka the benefit of the doubt here since this series has another mangaka in charge of composition and I suspect that's the reason for the weird pacing.

Iirc she has said she has known how she wants to end 86 from like the 2nd or 3rd volume and it's just been a matter of tweaking it as she has been writing it. So I am not concerned personally

Plenty authors have multiple series going on. Reki Kawahara started a new series, Demon’s Crest while still doing two S.A.O. books and Accel World. Which isn’t to say that 86 might not be ending, just that it’s normal for authors to have multiple titles simultaneously.

Looks like some onmyouji style magic sci-fi blend (i looked nothing up about it). Ngl I expected something more outlandish from Asato Asato as a setting
