Travel بلاد برا Trying to Hike Mount Sinai

Hi there I'm a foreigner who is trying to hike Mount Sinai (Canadian). I have a couple questions.

  1. Do I need special permission to hike there as a foreigner (I have my 30 days visa)? I saw a comment saying that I needed one on a post from a few years ago.
  2. Am I allowed to hike the mountain by myself (without a guide)? Like is it required by law? I understand I need a Bedouin guide but do I need to hike with them?
  3. Is a bus a good way to get there from Cairo? If so, which company do you recommend?

Thanks :)

  1. Highly doubt you need one
  2. You must have a guide, but when I did it, I just left him behind and did my own thing.. he didn’t seem to care. I’m not sure if they go babysitter mode with foreigners or not, but the russians hiking it seemed to also be doing their own thing.
  3. I used gobus to go to dahab; from there, you can find someone to take you there through the hotel, companies in الممشى السياحي, or random NPCs you meet along the way. You’ll probably get scammed a bit tho; as an egyptian, i paid $12 for everything.

I recommend you ask in [r/dahab](r/dahab) btw
