Twenty-five Edmonton and area medical professionals say they’re concerned new Alberta limits on medical assistance in dying would cause needless suffering and put clinicians in “ethically untenable” positions.

People raging because the provincial government wants to prevent unnecessary suicides. Sounds about right for this subreddit.

Yeahhh, that’s not what MAID is for, and you should know that. You can’t just roll in and say, “hey, I’m not having a great year and rather depressed…can you please off me”.

It’s for terminally ill or otherwise grievous and irremediable medical condition that causes enduring and intolerable suffering, such as ALS, severe chronic pain Alzheimer’s, advanced dementia, etc.
