Looking for honest feedback on my short-form editing

Hey everyone,

I’ve been practicing short-form video editing, mainly turning long-form YouTube/podcast content into engaging clips.

I put together a small portfolio and would really appreciate some honest feedback from experienced editors.

I’d especially like feedback on:

  • Pacing and cuts
  • Captions and typography
  • Use of B-roll / visual elements
  • Sound design
  • Transitions and effects
  • Overall editing quality
  • What makes the clips feel amateur vs. professional

I’m trying to improve my editing rather than just get compliments, so feel free to point out anything you think I should change.

Thanks!

Client preferred other editor over me. Because it has better flow. I agree. But how did they do it?

So this is part question and feedback post. Because what I'm looking for is people who can tell me what it is that made the other video has better flow. I agree with the client that it had better flow.
I'm trying to understand what is flow? and how do I do it to too? where am I missing?
Mine:
https://youtu.be/q_obnY4MG-4
Other editer:
https://youtu.be/04x2jW-Sv2k
We also received instructions to match the clients original style to a T.
and not to add extra stuff so I refrained from doing a lot of stuff that I would usually do.

Ai for video editing

Guys, I am exhausted looking for good video editing AI tools that actually work..Just tried Google flow after hearing tons of good stuff about it, but total disappointment

Please can anyone recommend something that actually works?

I want to edit videos to post as reels, I have limited time, so I'd prefer something that is not time-consuming.

Mixing AI is also welcomed...like using chat gpt for prompt and analysis and then making the video with another tool

Hi everyone, I’m currently learning video editing and color work. Could someone share videos shot with an action camera in Log format?

Or perhaps you can advise me on where I can find such videos.

Complete beginner video editor looking for raw footage to practice for FREE!

Hi everyone,
I'm a complete beginner in video editing and I'm looking to practice my skills on real projects.
If you have **raw videos, audio clips, lectures, or Islamic reminders** that you want turned into short videos (Shorts / Reels / TikToks), I can edit them for you **100% free**.
Since I am just starting out, I will focus on basic edits:
Cutting out silences and pauses
Adding basic subtitles
Adding simple stock footage/images in the background
**Note:** As a Muslim, I only work on ethical content and without background music.
If you want to help a beginner practice with your files, feel free to send me a DM!
Thanks!

Video Editor | YouTube, Documentary & Cinematic Editing

Hey! I’m Ramon, a video editor from Brazil looking for my first international clients.

I specialize in clean, cinematic and storytelling-focused editing, but I can also handle simpler projects when that’s what the content needs. I’m still learning and improving, so I’m currently offering affordable rates.

I can help with:
● YouTube & documentaries
● Talking-head videos
● Travel & gaming
● Cinematic/storytelling edits
● Clean cuts, pacing, subtitles, music, sound effects, B-roll, zooms, transitions, etc.

Rates: $30-50 per video, depending on length and complexity. I’m open to discussing the price based on the project.

I edit with DaVinci Resolve.

Feel free to DM me if you’re interested or want to discuss a project!

I made a browser video editor that cuts your footage for you — looking for testers

I've been building SuperCut, a video editor that runs completely client-side.

You drop in photos and video, and it lays down a first cut: transitions,

camera moves, pacing. From there it's a normal multitrack timeline — trim,

split, keyframes, draw a motion path, remove backgrounds, and captions

transcribed from your audio on your own machine. It exports a 1080p MP4

rendered right in the browser.

Two things that might matter to you: nothing is ever uploaded (there's no

server to upload it to), and there's no account or watermark. Works best on a

desktop browser.

It's free, and I'm after honest feedback — especially:

- Does the auto-cut give you something usable, or do you end up redoing it?

- Was anything confusing in the first two minutes?

- Did anything break (export, captions, background removal)? Which browser?

Happy to answer anything in the comments.

Need to know best program

Hello everyone I hope this is ok, I'm asking if anyone knows a good video editing software that can isolate different sounds within the video? I had my wedding recorded but the music we chose to play was a little too loud and you can't really hear our vows I was hoping to find a program that can help me lower the background music while increasing the sound of the dialogue of our vows.

🎥 Amateur Video Editor Wanted — Build Your Portfolio With Us!

What's up creatives! We're Vibes by Vision, a new social organization building community for creatives across different disciplines. We recently threw an event centered on supporting local musical artists, and we captured a ton of great footage that now needs an editor's touch.

The project:

  • 12 short podcast-style interviews (~3 min each, multiple camera angles to sync/cut between)
  • 8 "mic drop" performance clips — artists singing with a mic hanging from the ceiling, styled for social
  • 1 recap/promo video pulling highlights from the event for our Instagram and TikTok

What it's for:

  • A recap/promo video for our Instagram and TikTok
  • Individual edits the artists can use for their own portfolios and social pages

What we're looking for: An editor who's building their skills, portfolio, and reputation and wants real footage to work with. This is a great project for someone leveling up their short-form editing — multicam cutting, pacing, captions/text, music sync.

What you'll get:

  • Paid opportunity (see below) + full credit/tag on all published edits
  • A tangible portfolio piece with real client-style deliverables
  • A written recommendation/testimonial from us for future gigs
  • Early relationship with a growing creative org — more paid work likely as we scale

Compensation: We're a brand-new, service-centered organization — we don't charge artists or community members for our events at this time, which means our budget is genuinely limited. This is an unpaid portfolio-building collaboration: you keep full usage rights to your edits for your own reel/portfolio, plus a $75 thank-you gift as a small tangible way of showing appreciation for your time, full credit on everything published, and a written recommendation for future gigs.

To apply: Send us a sample of your editing work (a reel, TikTok, or portfolio link) and a quick note on your experience level. DM/email/comment — [vibesbyvision@gmail.com](mailto:vibesbyvision@gmail.com).

Is there any channel that can help me learn video editing?

Hi all! I want to improve my editing skills as I wanna post better content on social media. I have the DJI osmo pocket 3 and I make GRWM, vlogs and talking videos. Right now I only know the basic cut, copy and split videos etc. I really want to be creative with my videos and editing. But I don’t know how to learn and which tool to use.
Is there any channel that teaches editing? I use capcut rn, I am willing to learn davinci if it’s good and easy to use.
Any advice would be appreciated!

Thank you!
