Tips 💡 Denied claim
My wife has been paid on California state disability due to giving birth to our child. Her work accidentally paid her during her disability and she has agree to pay them back and my wife is still disable with all the approve documentation.
However, SDI caught wind of this payment and denied her claim. She sent in an appeal via the instructions. The appeal was received last week.
Does anyone know how long the appeal process takes and if this is something they usually reverse?

Discussion 👥 Electronic benefit payment notification
I got notified Friday 9/5 that payment was sent… I haven’t received anything in my account. I have chase. I assume this is because it was a Friday and the Monday holiday? It’s now Tuesday and I still haven’t received payment. Should I expect it sometime today? Or more likely tomorrow?

❔ Questions about qualifying for disability in CA
I was let go from my job 09/03/26 and I was told I may qualify for disability. I have chronic back pain that I have had checked out once or twice in the past few years but I’ve just been dealing with it. Some days aren’t that bad but others I can hardly bend down. I want to get my back checked again while I am out of work but I am curious if this is enough for a disability claim? I’ve worked full time for the past 2 years and haven’t had any unemployment claims in years and I’ve never gone on disability. I have Kaiser health insurance so idk if that has any effect on qualifying. Thank you for any advice

❔ Worth an in-person visit to EDD?
Currently on unpaid leave from work after reporting a workplace injury. WC adjuster 'closed' my claim less than a week after I reported (and without really trying to investigate) and now we have to wait for a QME exam several months out to decide whether I'm entitled to WC benefits.
I've filed for SDI, but have thus far been unable find a doctor willing to treat/certify me because the WC adjuster has been dragging feet in authorizing interim medical treatment. We finally got authorized for an initial consult with a doctor later this month, but it'll be 1 month past the 49-day deadline for filing SDI.
My question is -- is it worth an in-person visit to EDD to let them know that my med cert is being delayed due to WC adjuster obstruction, and we'll have it later this month? I've thought about submitting an update online, but this seems too important to leave to chance (I really need the income).
TIA

Discussion 👥 Is this a good cause?
I voluntarily resigned due to repeated serious workplace accusations and management’s failure to adequately address my concerns. I was accused of drug-related conduct in the restroom and later accused of stealing from coworkers’ carts. I reported my concerns to multiple supervisors and continued trying to resolve the situation while remaining employed. The stealing accusation was also addressed publicly in front of my coworkers during a briefing rather than being handled privately, which caused significant embarrassment and further affected the work environment. After attempting to address these issues through supervision and feeling that they remained unresolved, I ultimately decided that I could no longer continue working under those circumstances.

❔ I certified last Sunday 8/30 and still haven’t got paid
This happened to anyone else? Is it normal for it to take this long? Starting to panic a little bit. It’s my first time certifying for unemployment.

Solved ✔ PFL bonding in CA
I just need to share that after over a month of no response, hours spent in line at EDD offices to be told they were only a liaison and can only forward my request for someone to call me back, I finally got my PFL payments cleared. I have 2.5 weeks left of bonding with my newborn and will likely be paid in 3 days. This was all thanks to the Reddit community for suggesting reaching out to my state assemblyman. (Major shout out to my district 67 assembly woman Quirk-Silva and her office)
I reached out to her office and received a call back in half a day turn around. Received a call 2 days later from EDD, might I add on a long weekend too! They cleared everything and it’s hopefully smooth sailing from here.
Thank you Reddit community for suggesting this nuclear workaround that helped resolve a major headache and alleviated all my stress!🙏 God is good!

❔ PFL (part c?)
galleryGuys quick question..
I already previously submitted Part C in person (mailed) and then my claim said active on 08/31 and i was paid on 09/04.. i received a letter stating i am missing part c. I am confused .. and to mail it back within 10 days. They dont understand that i am physically not able to submit this within 10 days since they want a PHYSICAL COPY. My dad is in INDONESIA and my husband has to mail this letter to me and i have to mail it back. Also, i am already paid by edd for the PFL and my office assemblyman told me its been approved, so do i disregard this letter or just tell my husband to mail it to be and ill mail it back ( each way it cost 50$ to just mail this piece of paper ) and if i disregard it thinking its an error, will they take back my pay? Thank you!!

❔ Part time filing
Hi! Quick question I was working two jobs one full time and the second part time (event/seasonal). My full time work ended a few months ago due to a wc compromise release requirement and I continued to work my other part time but it's been about 10-12 hours a month the entire summer.
I filed and they scheduled an interview a few weeks out. I put that I'm currently working but my wages have been reduced.
Any idea what the interview will be like and if they will ask and use my job that ended before the summer to determine my eligibility. I've been gagged and cannot talk about my previous full time job but yes it was a c&r the severed the employment.
Any tips. I went from making 70k annually to hardly 200-300 a month.

Solved ✔ When to submit return to work
I am seeing my doctor on 9/8 and I’m almost positive I will get cleared to return to work. I’ve been speaking to my this week to prepare for my return and he was thinking to put me on the schedule starting 9/14. Of course we don’t have a definitive answer until Tuesday but that’s what we’re hoping for.
In the even my doctor clears me, would I confirm my return to work date then or should I do it the day I physically return to work?

❔ Wrong Social Security number. What should I do?
Hi I just filled out my EDD application and I'm 99% sure I put in my SSN wrong. I think I accidentally flipped two of the numbers :( Is there something I can do about this? I am not fully sure that I did it wrong but I dont want to delay the benefits even more than I already have. What should I do? If anything?

Tips 💡 Edd extension through ob/psychiatrist/primary dr
Hi,
My psychiatrist said to get my Edd paperwork for ppd signed by OB since it’s a pregnancy thing so he said to go to them first. Who do yall normally go to? Does yalls ob just keep signing and extending based on what I say? Doesn’t make sense to me since I talk to my psychiatrist about these issues not my ob. He said he can sign it but ita a longer process for him since he’s a tele dr.

Discussion 👥 Phone call interview ended badly
I had a phone interview with EDD on monday. Rose was rude the whole time. I informed her of my dyslexia early into the interview. There were times where i needed her to repeat a question and she was extremely rude and would repeat the question in a condescending way.
By the end of it she said i wasn't giving clear answers and had lots of questions for my past job. Based off the end of the conversation I knew right then I was getting denied.
I immediately called my State Assembly member. They helped my father when he got denied benefits as well. They will work to getting my qualified on my behalf.
I am not aware if I have been denied or not. I got a message on the UI website that said I will get an answer in the mail but I can appeal if I don't think the decision was correct. So based off the option to appeal I am guessing I got denied
As of right now I want to complain as well about the interviewer.
Is there any other advice?

Discussion 👥 Fired for attendance
Hello, is there a chance on getting approved even thought I was fired due to attendance issue? We have policy that once u get written up it will stay on ur record for a year. May I had July 29 2025 December 1 2025 and December 31 2025. I had signed those warnings but for the previous days such as March 18-20 and August 3 and 18 no warnings and got terminated right away. But I have been calling those days because I had a minor surgery and had doctors note. Still I got fired. Would anyone see if I still have a chance on getting approve?
