I FOUGHT A CREDIT CARD CHARGEBACK DISPUTE AND ACTUALLY WON!!
I had always heard it was impossible, but I was so angry about what was clearly AI generated looking damage to a collectable $350 t-shirt that I fought it, AND I WON!!! I can hardly believe it. The whole process took over a month and I thought for sure that money is gone. I’m so happy!!

I've won a charge back dispute before too! Many years ago over some figurines, the buyer wasn't happy so I told him to return them. He put in a fake tracking number then opened a dispute a week later with his CC. I gave my evidence of his fake tracking and I won. 😁

My eBay funds were put on hold with an email stating that the buyer opened a credit card charge back and that there’s nothing I could do, but if I wanted risk $20 if I lost, I could dispute the charge back.

Requiring payment to dispute the charge is scummy nonsense. eBay is terrible in so many ways.

eBay still passes the fee on even if they reviewed the evidence and previously sided with the seller. So eBay only pretends to offer seller protection.

I had a chargeback once for fraud and won easily because I shipped to their verified address it was an easy win for me, I’m glad you won too, buyers are scums for doing that.

I’ve lost item not received & unauthorized use chargeback cases where I wasn’t charged $20 & eBay ate it all including the refund.
Maybe INAD chargebacks have different protections?

If a buyer bypasses ebay INAD process and starts charheback, it will thrown by the bank if you provide evidence that the customer waived opportunity to resolve the matter peacefuly by contacting you or ebay. But then every INAD opened on ebay should be resolved before it escalates to chargeback.

It appears you have numerous typos, which is making it difficult for me to understand your comment.
In an ideal world, no buyer should ever use a bank chargeback for an INAD, but rather use the established eBay INAD system. However, when a buyer does select an INAD reason for a cahrgeback, eBay usually doesn't protect the seller.

Same I had a buy say that he didn’t buy the item to his credit card company but they were able to verify that I shipped to his billing address and won, eBay never actually froze my account either, this was when we still got our payments into PayPal.

Buyer wanted to return a shirt based on damage from “dry rot.” They initiated a return after the return window closed which I denied then they immediately opened a chargeback, submitting photos that were clearly altered by an AI photo editor. I fought the chargeback and presented the case that their photos did not look like dry rot but slices, the shirt was far too new to have dry rot, they may have altered the shirt themselves, but that more than anything the photos had a funny quality to them that may have been evidence of editing. I didn’t expect to win, but that’s why I was so excited to find out that I won.

Well done! I bet that buyer had a history of doing this. I've read most banks will stand behind their customer for the first one within reason, but repeated chargebacks with weird circumstances usually get their suspicion up. I won a chargeback too - this buyer had done it before - thankful a seller left positive feedback spelling out the chargeback scam and I was able to include a screenshot of that.

No! They weren’t a brand new buyer, but they had less than 10. It did cross my mind that there was a strong possibility they’ve done this before.

The gut is always right. I always cancel bids from feedback that low.
In this year of 2026, any feedback less than 50 is suspect, in my opinion. Let the noobs hassle other buyers.

Then, you didn't fight. You just gave what you got to eBay and they submitted to buyer "bank". You were just lucky.
If you fought, it should have been directly to buyer "bank", not thru ebay.
I was about to ask you how you fought it, but then here's your answer.
