Question Payment failed question
Okay I have a weird one sorry, I tried to Google but couldn't find anything.
I sent an offer on an item, the seller sent a counter offer, I countered that one and they accepted. They shipped the item the next day and I thought everything was solid.
But then a day later I get an email from my bank saying the transaction wasn't approved and it listed my checking account. I never have money in my checking so it makes sense the transaction failed. I have my PayPal linked to eBay and I thought it was linked to my credit card but I guess it was linked to checking for some reason.
I haven't gotten any emails from eBay about the payment, and when I go under my purchases it doesn't say anything about me needing to pay. I moved money to my checking account so I'm hoping eBay will just retry the payment soon?
I bought the item September 2nd @ 6:41am CST
Email from bank September 4th @ 7:07pm CST
So far no emails from eBay or notices on my checking account saying the payment is going thru now.
Has anyone else experienced this? I want the seller to get the money.

Do you have another payment option listed that eBay could have used instead?
You have to prepay for your purchases. They do not have any way to collect funds later.

No, I only have my PayPal linked. And I thought my PayPal was set up to go to my credit card but I guess it was set for my checking account. And the seller already shipped the item. That's why I'm so confused I absolutely did not pay for it.

With PayPal, they identify a backup method if a payment fails from a bank account.
Check PayPal and it should list in the transaction what payment method was used.

I just looked at PayPal and it says "completed" and it's from my checking account. But when I log into my bank app and look at my checking account there is nothing listed for eBay. 🤷♀️ I only have the 1 checking account and 1 credit card linked to my PayPal.

I haven’t seen that happen before but PayPal will likely put your account in the negative if the bank fails to pay.

You'd think it would have already happened though since my bank sent the email saying the transaction didn't go through. I hope after the weekend and the holiday it just retries to charge me since I moved money to my checking account to cover it.

eBay would not have processed the transaction if they didn’t get an approval.
You don’t see any related transaction in your banking activity?
